WW portrays a world living with the consequences of the gods flooding the world and lives having been lost from it. TP has no such consequences to speak of. That alone makes WW a thematicallydarker story.

like, that's irrelevant to how dark the game is
you're kind of injecting tragic backstory into the game that isn't really portrayed
the opening cutscene is definitely chilling, but it ends on a note of hope, not despair
I'm not saying WW is a kids game, like I of all people should get that considering how much time I've put into a single game

That's like
Not very dark lol
The distinction lies in the difference between aesthetics and themes. The games are polar opposites of each other, with Twilight Princess having a very dark aesthetic and relatively light themes, while Wind Waker has a very jovial and energetic look but makes heavy use of themes of bleakness, death, and violent rebirth.

Also, the overuse of the word "dark" in posts and youtube videos has essentially rendered it useless as an academic term.

Also also, I absolutely do not remember swearing in that original post. Glad the auto-filter caught it.

Well guys, it's been (over) a week! Discussion on the previous question is now closed, unless there's something you really want to add!

I am so sorry, I completely forgot to do this yesterday! I'm glad to see we got so much discussion last week, here's my next question-
What if Link had a regular Loftwing in SS? Does it's rare color actually lend any importance to the game (or series) as a whole?
