Call me more educated today. I've never done it that way. I learnt something new. Using the Biggoron sword would make beating him early so much easier. Thanks for that.
I always just got a couple of green potions and hoped I got enough hits with the dins fire to get the job done and most times I did.

Yeah the Biggron's sword is the fastest way, the trick is to not use your target lock though, just wait until he gets close to you and wack him.
