Your Fears for the Future of the Zelda Series

Can members post what are there fears for the future of the zelda series.
A few for me are.
That link is made to look to old.
That he is replaced completely.

That zelda is replaced.
The reason i say this is that i heard a rumour that they where going to call it the legend of colin.
So instead of princess zelda it would be king colin.
That the master sword is taken out permanently.
When you hit a fake wall it does not make a different sound.
There are no more songs.
Ill think of more soon.

Cheers Darren.

Reduce, simplify, or eliminate puzzles and/or sidequests to make the game easier and less frustrating for casual gamers.

There are a number of things that I desperately hope they don't do with the series.
A. I hope they never go exclusively 1st person. Plain and simply.
B. I hope they, as insanity76 mentioned, never dull down the puzzles or make any aspect of the game mind-numbingly simplistic to cater to new gamers.
C. I hope they stop progressing with technology so much.
D. I hope they at least keep the basics of what Link looks like. If they make him look completely different I may have a heart attack. Same goes for the rest of the characters, like Zelda or Ganondorf.
E. I fear that they will continue to make WW-based games. At some point it has to stop.
F. I fear the end of Zelda, whenever that may be.

Do not get rid of the puzzles or sidequests.
I hear what insanity 76 is saying.
But these puzzles sidequests are a part and a big part of the zelda games.
Its the puzzles and the enjoyment of working them out that is so much fun.

if you play these games more often insanity 76 you will work the puzzles out.
Its only the first time they are real hard.
And 1st person would indeed be a very bad thing.
It just does not suit zelda games.
There are just certain things that must not change.

that they will completely take out the gannon/zelda/ link triangle.
that they will stop making it in hyrule.
that they will make a future game (while a future game would be cool, don't call it zelda!)
that they will get rid of the triforce.
that they will get reveal the true timeline as that would destroy any theorizing.

most of these fears are probably unfounded, but i still don't want it to happen

I fully agree with what all of you have already said. But my most reasonable fear is that they exaggerate it with the "kid-friendliness" (I'm looking at you, oversized mushrooms!). While I don't want Zelda to be a "mature" game (in the sense of blood-gore/porn etc. - but I have no concerns that this will happen anyway), I don't want the series to degrade to Hello Kitty/Pokémon/Mario Sunshine level. It's OK if they do that with the Mario series, but leave Zelda how it is. The difficulty level has been steadily declining since OoT (MM is an exception) and this doesn't have to be continued. Getting stuck in a game so that you have to stop, think about it and eventually progress gives a good feeling of accomplishment and is a key factor of a good game, at least to me. Maybe Nintendo fears that modern gamers will go all whiny if they get stuck somewhere and therefore loathe the game, but they're forgetting about players who want some challenge.

Keep the game hardcore. It's as simple as that. If you look at New Super Mario Bros, Galaxy 2, even Donkey Kong Country Returns have fallen under the "super guide" spell, making the game very easy for any player, regardless of their skill level. With Zelda, it must be left hardcore, with no super guide because if it does, then what will Nintendo rely on in terms of core games? They've already lost a few franchises, but I really hope that Zelda doesn't go that route as well.

Another fear of mine is making the Zelda games modern. We've all heard of the "futuristic Zelda" idea, which, in my opinion, sounds kind of ridiculous. Why take a beloved franchise like Zelda, and zoom years into the future, for basically a completely new game. I'm not saying that the Big N can't pull it off, which they probably couldn't, but they wouldn't ruin a great series by completely changing the core aspect. It can't be done.

My final fear for the Zelda future is the music. Bold steps have been taken in previous years as to the type of music to have in the game, and it comes down to the question: MIDI vs. Orchestrated? Twilight Princess fell to MIDI style music, and 90 second tracks that loop continuously, but back in the old days, I mean, back when the Zelda music was good, it was a treat to walk into Hyrule Field and hear those beautiful tunes. Although a minor worry of mine, it's still a big choice to consider during the development of a Zelda game.

I also hate the idea that Nintendo might try to pull a Final Fantasy 7 with the Zelda series and have Hyrule be a large metropolis with neon lights and cyborgs. While Link cleaves mutants and robots in half with a stylized techno sword.

Then in my mind it would no longer be Zelda.

Another thing I hope never happens is that the orchestral soundtrack is replaced with some Japanese metal band. And then it is nothing but horrible guitar riffs with every boss fight.

I don't fear for that much in the series, I trust that the creators will keep it bearable, but here are a few things...

Shorter, easier, less in-depth games for casual players.
Very child-friendly games for the young kids.
"M" games for the "M" audience.
No more Ganon, Link, or Zelda.
No more Triforce.
Technological advances.
Lack of new ideas.
The good Zelda music is replaced with some other band.
The founders of Zelda leave Nintendo and Zelda is left in irresponsible hands.
Zelda ends.

Although I doubt any of these will happen any time soon, they're just thoughts...
