Pro: The Controller design looks quite comfortable in my opinion and isn't ugly which is always good.
Pro: The 500GB Hard Drive kind of smashes the 32GB one on my Wii U in comparison, however you are required to download all games to the HD and these games will probably be large files so I wonder how long the 500GB will last for hardcore gamers.
Pro: More entertainment is a good thing, you don't have to use it if you don't want it but it is there for those that do want it I guess.
Pro: It apparently doesn't sound like an aeroplane engine while running.
Meh: Kinect always being connected is slightly annoying, as long as they don't force you to actually use it then it's not too much of a problem though.
Meh: The console looks really dull, just like a set top box. Not really a massive problem though.
Con: Xbox Live is still not free, sure some people think it is worth it but it isn't a good thing.
Con: The name will be confused as making the console sounding inferior to the 360. Wii U is a pretty bad name too though.
Con: Lack of backwards compatibly gives people that never had a 360 even less of a reason to buy the console.
Con: Pre-owned game fee. This is the one thing that is the worst and will stop many people from picking up an XBOX ONE console.
- Not everyone can afford new games, this would mean you would have to buy it from a store then pay again through the console.
- This is the kind of thing that kills video game specialist retailers, they make most of their profits on preowned sales. If I was a retailer like EB Games I'd consider not stocking the console that was going to screw me over.
- No more renting video games (self explanatory).
- You can't borrow games from a friend without paying the fee anymore.
- The actual fee will probably be really high (possibly retail), otherwise people could just install the game to their Hard Drive and then sell it and keep their copy on their Hard Drive.
- Apparently you can play the game on your account at a friends house for free though (
Source).
- What happens in 20-30 years when the XBOX ONE is retro, and the servers are all shut down? How will we play these now "retro" games if we didn't get them while we could?
I won't be picking one up.
