Not once did I allude to the opposite. Sure, not everyone can afford every console, duh, that's life for you. Even then, not being as fortunate doesn't give one the right to make ignorant claims. It's like a homeless man saying homes are overrated.
.
That he's a dumb@ss and doesn't know any better?

Anyway, I will be getting both consoles, considering I already have a Wii U. You know, because I'm a gamer, not a *****.

The Xbox One actually convinced my Xbox fanboy of a brother to probably get a Wii U. That's saying a lot since he made fun of me for getting one.
She claims her brother might get a Wii U rather than an XBOX ONE? Is that an "ignorant" claim?
Bit harsh.
Not everyone can afford to buy all three consoles you know? Are they not gamers because they may be on a budget?
Many people can only pick just one console and if someone feels like any of the three consoles are the best for them after weighing up the pros and cons the that's good for them and they can have fun with their choice. That's what playing games and being a gamer is all about.
Or perhaps you are referring to something that I said, if so please kindly highlight what I said above that was ignorant.

You're playing connect the dots, with dots that aren't there. I fail to see the correlation between me wanting both systems, so I can get the most out of this upcoming generation as a gamer who appreciates what all systems have to offer, and people who aren't as fortunate enough to do the same.

As for the ignorant comments, just take a look. I'm not going to start naming people, or go through this entire thread and start fighting everyone on their opinions, stupid or not. It's not fair and I honestly don't care enough or have the time to do so.

Again, if they want to make money from games, they need to stop charging so much friggin' money for these rehash games. $60 for a "new" Call of Duty is not worth it. $60 is not justified - it never has been, not even with my favorite entry Black Ops. Lower it to $40 and maybe you'd stop seeing so many booty pirates lying around, huh?

Are you seriously blaming Microsoft for yearly CoD titles?
I'm sorry Ventus, my respect for you as a gamer is seriously at an all-time low.

Seriously, how are gamers going to live in a world where they can't borrow or give games as gifts? How will they get on when their favorite console throws out gaming for a bunch of lame computer gimmicks, Kinect (cause that's so beloved), and complicated TV crap?

You can apparently trade games on the new Xbox. Its not fully detailed yet, but it will be a feature. Similar to how you can do it on Steam, I think.
The TV stuff is optional. It doesn't force you to do it...

This is going to be one of those threads, ain't it?

I have no problem with you going out to purchase both systems and really do hope you find great experiences in both :) Gaming is all about enjoyable experiences and it's good that you are trying to get as many of those as possible. It may have just been me misinterpreting the way your post was written.
I agree that there are going to be ignorant comments within this thread and all over the Internet, some opinions on each side are perfectly valid and some are going to be based on things that aren't even confirmed yet or completely invalid ideas. But hey, this is the Internet, at the end of the day it won't really matter as long as people are happy just playing the games of their own choice :)

4 pages worth of discussion already wow wow wee wa, I think I'll just give my opinion on it.
I'm disappointed myself, I personally was hoping for something a little juicey, even if it is small. For instance I really love how Nintendo and Sony have implemented community features like the miiverse and the the PS4s share button. Small but I thought it was something good to bring to a console. It seems like they are really trying a little too hard to describe the machine and making it sound like it does something new, when in reality it doesn't.

It remains a games machine at heart, but Microsoft's broader aim was clear: to make the Xbox an all-in-one entertainment solution
Well congrats but you managed to do that last generation along with the PS3 and even the Wii managed. Any device with an internet connection nowadays is great for watching TV on. This is why I feel it's best to focus on what a console is supposed to do. No one is going to be buy a console because it can play netflix. Especially now with the influx of smart tvs that also have all these media capabilities. So really the xbox is left with one pro, it can play video games.

The Xbox One is a real advancement, one that will transform the way we experience TV, games, music, movies and more.
Because of voice commands I guess... :S Voice commands are cool I suppose but it always felt tacky to me, most people are more than happy to push a few buttons, unless they really have the voice recognition perfect this time.

A "snap mode" similar to Microsoft Windows 8 experience allows users to run two activities – such as watching TV and browsing the internet, or using Skype – simultaneously. It offers a second screen.
With the examples above I can't really see that being useful.

Anyway I think it's really silly when game consoles try to be these all in one devices when the monitors themselves these days come with those same capabilities. Right now this really doesn't look that appealing to me. Although we will see what happens later on.
On the subject of the name I find it odd that they went with Xbox one, as you all know our brains just love big numbers (comon how many post count blogs have we got) To market something you often want a bigger number, to look less inferior , that's why I thought they went with the name 360. As Xbox 2 doesn't sound as impressive as the PS3. Sometimes I do wonder if microsoft are trying to hurt themselves, they certainly have made some odd decisions this past decade. We can only see what the future holds.

P.s I'm tired that's why this post is everywhere and baaad, after all making posts is rocking science!

Hanyou

didn't build that
My Xbox 360 collects dust, and I've seen absolutely nothing to convince me that its successor will be worth my money. They've boasted new exclusive franchises, so I guess I shouldn't speak too soon--but I'd be surprised if more than half of them weren't Kinect-related or just shooters.

Then again, I've never fallen into any demographic Microsoft targets. My two favorite experiences on the Xbox were Shenmue II and Panzer Dragoon Orta, and my favorite exclusive on the 360 was Tales of Vesperia. To my knowledge, nothing was done to promote any of those games and the average Xbox gamer rejected them. This isn't changing, so whatever.

Looks like I'll still be spending most of my time with my 3DS and PC in the coming generation.

I actually plan on buying all the different eighth gen consoles, just for the hell of it. I have always enjoyed collecting video games and consoles, so these will just be more for my collection. The main thing about the XBox One that I dislike is the fact that we will have to pay an extra fee to play borrowed/rented games. Granted, I hardly ever borrow games, but I still do occasionally. I understand that Microsoft is doing that to sell more games, but come on... Does the company really need any more money? I guess though, that knowing Bill Gates, most of that money will go towards charity, so I guess that's a plus.

I also love how much harder the American console company is trying to make a revolutionary console compared to the two Japanese companies. Microsoft seems to be trying a little bit too hard to make a console that does everything but gaming... I may have expected that from Apple, but not Microsoft. Speaking of which... Is Apple ever going to make a video game console? I can totally see them coming up with something like the iGame, or iPlay, or iThis****isstupid...

Back In the day a console that dominated the market known as the Super Nintendo, had 2 features, 1 you could put a cartridge in it and play that game, and 2, it had a reset button.

Yo, here's the Impetus behind Xbox "One":
The original Xbox was just the "Xbox," it wasn't "One." But this vernacular formed where people referred to it as the Xbox. Even today during interviews, I've slipped.

It only takes a little while before you realize what's going on underneath that name. There's something very powerful about it. Xbox One really embodies the concept that this is the first device, the combination of this very powerful console that brings all its eight cores, 8GB of RAM, super fast memory, super powerful SoC we built, super powerful dedicated audio and video processing subsystems. There's incredible power in this device, married with the next generation of Kinect for really enabling those subtle interactions between you and your entertainment.

So to us, One is really the embodiment that this becomes one device that addresses all the entertainment that you want to enjoy on your TV, and brings it to you in a way that's so simple, that it can be the only input you have connected through your television. It is truly the one place to go for all this. So One ends up being a deeply meaningful thing to us here. It's almost a bar that we are striving to achieve, and I think we nailed it really well with the Xbox One.

Yeah, the name is stupid and the reason behind the name is WORSE THAN WII U.

Are you seriously blaming Microsoft for yearly CoD titles?
I'm sorry Ventus, my respect for you as a gamer is seriously at an all-time low.

"They" was not referring to Microsoft. Read it again. "They" was referring to the game market as a whole, obviously. Did you think Microsoft has CoD as a first party release? You must've by your response :/

I really don't care about anyone's respect for me as a gamer; I'm a pretty crappy gamer as it is, just saying.

dude the new xbox looks like garbage. having to pay a fine to install games to different accounts, no backwards compatibility, always on, etc. those are all deal breakers in my opinion. it's all about PC and ps4. while its true ps4 won't have backwards compatibility, most ps3 classics will make their way over at some point, as well as sony having a bunch of exclusive titles. but honestly my computer is more powerful than any console on the market right now. my pc would eat an xbox 360 and **** out a gamecube.

I think this will do well overall but as a video games console...not so much (the same goes for the PS4). I don't think its very accurate to be calling the Xbox One and PS4 a specialist video games console anymore, they are more of social media consoles with all these functions available. They're pretty much a Sky box HD that plays video games, with games not being the selling point.

I have played an Xbox 360 before and I kinda...enjoyed playing it, but I wasn't mad enough to rush out and get one myself. Given the choice between Xbox 360 and Xbox One I'd go for the Xbox 360 any day because when I look at what the Xbox One has in store, I just think its too much for a video game console. Seriously I think Microsoft and Sony should drop out of the Gaming industry and focus on overall entertainment because that's what they seem to be focusing more on at the moment.

Sony just got a new customer. Everything I heard about this console pisses me off.

I'd rather have a PS4 or a Wii U to be honest.
