Greetings everyone, Ganondork here. Once again, we've received two entries this week - GaroXicon and Thareous. As I've said before, it is important to not only read - and comment - but to also participate. The Zelda Dungeon Community is among one of the most supportive communities that I have seen, and are willing to offer constructive criticism. Due to this, for any writers who wish to improve, I suggest you submit.

It's not hard to write a submission. Due to the word limit, it's quicker to write, and doesn't usually contain a beginning, a middle and an end - many submissions cut into the middle of a dungeon, or even the middle of a Zelda game. If the topics are too difficult to write, then suggest a topic, there is a high probability that your topic idea will be the following week's.

As stated before, GaroXicon and Thareous were the only ones to submit this week.

GaroXicon

Minuet

The dark passage way led to a set of stairs on the left as Link entered through the ornate, meticulously locked door. The stairs spiraled around and led to a large, circular platform with several identical pictures adorning the walls. There didn't appear to be anything worthwhile; it had all been for naught. Link turned to leave, when suddenly the railing rose out of the ground, trapping him in the ring. Turning once more, Link found himself facing the Great King of Evil himself.

Or was it? The figure before him looked like Ganondorf, that was certain - but there was an odd sense to him, as if it wasn't really there - as if it were simply an image. Readying his sword, Link prepared for a fight, but the figure shed its disguise and retreated into a nearby painting. Link would have jumped out of his skin for seeing what it truly was - a phantom, an aberration - had he not encountered countless ghosts in the mansion above. He drew his bow and waited.

It wasn't long before the phantom began trotting down the path within the painting. Link pulls back on the bowstring as the phantom began to emerge in a wave of violet energy. A carefully timed shot pierced the phantom just as it returned into the room, sending its steed reeling backward and collapsing, vanishing in a puff of green mist.

The phantom itself remained, however, floating high above the platform. It twirled its staff, generating a ball of electrical energy, and then thrust it at Link. Quickly dropping his bow, Link unsheathed the Master Sword in a swift motion, sending the energy ball flying back at the phantom as he did. The phantom was struck and collapsed to the floor, allowing Link an opening with which to rush forward and deal a finishing blow.

With a quick thrust into the phantom's skull, the creature disintegrated. Light entered the room, and a sense of a curse being lifted infused Link's spirits.

Thareous

Shadow of Oneself

Link grunted as he hefted the door open, moved inside, and looked back as the door fell shut. He heard an inner mechanism lock it, and grimaced. Clutching the Master Sword tighter, Link continued down the narrow foyer he'd entered into and glanced around. Circular walls of the chamber beyond rose toward a high ceiling. Vases were stationed around them, no doubt containing precious recovery hearts. Only a pool of water in the room's center illuminated it, dimly emanating a blue glow. Setting his gaze on it Link approached and looked into the water. His reflection was shadowy against the liquid, unclear and featureless.

Then red eyes opened where his would be, and the water erupted, launching Link back. The hero whirled onto his feet and raised his Hylian Shield, poised for an oncoming blow. A blur flashed to his left; Link lashed his sword out that way, but felt it weighted down suddenly. An inky replica of himself stood on his blade, pinning it to the cobblestones. Link jerked his weapon away, and the nimble figure flipped backward. They met with ringing metal. Link feinted a blow and swiped out on level with his foes head.

Dark Link, as he was called, caught Link's sword arm and swept his black blade across the hero's chest. Grunting, Link felt a heart fall out of his flesh. Enraged he swung out again. Dark Link made the exact same move as him, and Link took note of this. He blocked the blow with his shield and jabbed the Master Sword straight through his adversary's chest.

As a side-note, Thareous submitted right after this thread was posted, and technically submitted before the deadline. A poll has been added to this now, so the usual voting may occur.

And with that, it's time for next week's topic:

The Triforce

This topic can range from a large variety of things. Perhaps it could be Link's journey to obtaining it, an explanation of its creation, or even Ganondorf's attempts to take it for his own. This topic leaves a lot of ideas for the writer, so use your imagination.

This topic has a word limit of 500, due to the fact that this topic is so open to interpretation. Some entries may have to be a bit longer, therefore the word limit needs to be raised. Please comment on what you thought of this week's submission, and be sure to write your own submission. It is due 1/30/12; be sure to send it to me through Private Message. Have a great day.
