Working With Others Vs Working Alone

So I was watching the newest Game Grumps episode for Super Mario Sunshine, and they were talking about early Nintendo. You don't know were I'm going with this? Well, Arin said something about how the first president of Nintendo, Yamauchi, was kind of like an introvert who was to himself, and was hard to work with. With my random thought process, that lead to the idea of this thread.

So, now that the weird back story is out of the way, do you like to work with others, or do you like working alone?

I prefer working alone. I really don't work well with others. I am probably the worst person to work with. I either do absolutely nothing because I am too afraid to step up and speak out, or I take total control and just do it by myself because I don't trust people. I know you can learn from working with others, but I feel like I learn more and do better when I'm working by myself. I am not very good at working with others and working with their thoughts. I like being lost in my own mind and doing things my way. I am like that in general actually. There is only one person that I would actually like working with and I'd actually rather talk to them than being lost in my own thoughts.

So what about you guys?

It ultimately depends on the situation at hand or task assigned to me/a group including me. If it's something I know I can manage myself, then I prefer to work by myself, but I'm not entirely opposed to group work. The one thing that concerns me with group work is who's in my group. If it's people I'm generally comfortable being around, then I have no problem with pitching ideas and helping anyway I can. When the group I'm apart of consists of people I'm uncomfortable being around, then that's where issues may arise. Because I'm so unfamiliar with them, I tend to pitch in less and take up the most independent task possible. I'd like to change this habit slightly by being more vocal, but it's going to be a long process whether I like it or not.

Alone, for sure. I try to suppress it, and keep it to myself, but I'm a pretty severe control freak. I cannot handle my fate being in the hands of others, even if just a little. I'm a million times more comfortable being alone with my own thoughts, and with 100% control over the situation. This could stem from trust issues, or other sociability/anxiety-related problems or whatever, but it's just how I am.

Mostly, I like to work alone because I like to be in solitude. Working with others is ok, since it can provide better communication with others and you can get more information on what work or situation you're on. I don't like how when you work with others and sometimes things go how you don't like it to be. So mostly, I like to work alone and go on my own pace.

Depends in the situation but more often than not I like working with others. Without taking anything else into consideration, I like to socialise and don't like being alone so simply having other people there, to chat to and stuff, is good enough for me. But, I think it's good. Having someone else's opinions and thoughts on stuff is very useful, as well as any skills people might bring. I've found that really helps me learn, to be told and then shown another way of doing things or another way of thinking.

So, definitely prefer working with others. :) Even if I'm working alone, I'm still usually with people, on the phone or Skype or something.

I am like Clutch Powers, I work alone, at least till he became uncool.
The only person that I work with is Ratchet, and that's on;y because those turrets are pretty deadly

But really, I tend to work best alone

It depends, I worked alone and I worked with others. I love to work alone the most because then I can let my mind go and concentrate on so many things. But if I have great coworkers I wouldn't mind to work with them. It does make the time fly

I tend to be a bit of a lone wolf when it comes to working. I am sort of a control freak, so I always end up giving commands, and just being really annoying when I work with others. And when other people take charge, I tend to argue about the best way to do tasks, whether or not my way actually is the best way. It annoys even myself. So to avoid all of that, I just try to work alone, especially when it comes to things like school projects. I just have a really hard time working well with others.

In a work environment, you have to work with other people if you like it or not (unless you are like me and want to work at home on computer) being social isnt one of the things I like doing but I still have to. If I really have the choice of working alone or with other people, I would much rather work alone. I get more things done by myself and I'm not forced to like other people so no drama or arguments would come along and I am not forced to talk a lot. At my job I'm forced to talk a lot and they know I hate talking.

But idk, it's nice to have a conversation here and there but not consistently

I prefer to work alone unless forced in a group. It is especially annoying when the teacher pair you up and says everyone must work. Effectively the teacher is saying 'hey, you don't mind if I pair you up with an idiot who will ruin both his and your grade. K, thx, bye.'

I work equally well in both situations, and which I prefer depends on the setting, group, and task.

This fits me perfectly. I always seem to want to do or play things my way and my way alone.

When I'm working alone, I tend to be more productive since I can devote all my concentration on the task. If I'm working with anyone else, particularly in a group with people I know, I tend to get distracted and usually end up fooling around with them more than doing the actual task at hand.
