Link's Awakening Which is Canonical?

LA is a fantastic game, but there are two versions of it. There's original LA. It's black and white, and it lacks a dungeon and some features seen in the second game. Also, Marin turns into a seagull and lives in the DX version. I thought the original was the canonical entry, so i ordered that online (though somebody screwed up and sent me DX anyway). But recently, nintendo has been releasing LA on the eshop, but it's LADX. I know it looks better, but is that the canonical version? Does is supersede the other?

LADX is the same thing as LA, just better. They're both canon.

They both have the ending of showing Marin as a seagull flying away, just in different fashions. You have to complete the game without dying to see it though. Ventus is right though, they're the same, just an added dungeon in LADX to use color puzzles and whatnot.
