General Zelda Which Game is Deserving of a Sequel?

In a series with little continuity there have actually been quite a lot of sequels, and by sequels I mean, to an extent, direct sequels or sequels that actually link to their predecessors.

To be honest I think sequels can be great, they offer that sense of progression and generally make links and connections between games and to be honest that's essentially what I would like to see more with the Legend of Zelda Series.

So the question I ask is, what game would you like to receive have a sequel within the series and why? (disregarding the games that already have) Also explain what you would like to see if that sequel and the time frame in between.

Hmmm...TP or ST. The end of TP felt...unfinished. Like there was another quest to go to. And New Hyrule needs to be explored.

I want to see a sequel to Four Swords Adventures. Not a direct sequel but one that happens a thousand years or so, on.
Ganon is forgotten, he is sealed away where only a few know where. It has been a thousand or so years of peace, hyrule is doing great, a steampunk world which has had the time to develop and grow due to the sustained peace.

I want a steampunk Zelda title and this is the place to put it. There was a new Ganon introduced and I want to see him explored properly in the way that no 2D title could.

I would *love* another Spirit Tracks game! As was said by DarkestLink, New Hyrule is begging to be explored. By train. The game was adorable and it had this adventuresome feel unique to the romance of the rails... New Hyrule, in general, had a "frontier" feel. I am sure there are great evils lurking beyond the borders besides just Malladus... I'd like to see the same Link and Zelda in it, too. Perhaps Zelda can come on the adventure, too, but in the flesh, not as a ghost.

Twilight Princess looks like it begs for a sequel, too (besides just the crossbow game, which I haven't played). There are unanswered questions about the Twilight Realm and things like that (heck, this game could have a direct prequel... the war with the Dark Interlopers)... It also has something of a "frontier" spirit to it, what with all those beautifully-rendered horizons and mountains to explore beyond the Invisible Wall - and, of course, Link riding off in the end, presumably to more adventure. -- If Nintendo is very brave, they might pick up a sequel idea from one of my fanfics. (I did one that was something "The Oregon Trail" - Twilight Princess style in which Link led a caravan of settlers years after TP's events to a land beyond the horizon while fighting off monsters and Faron Influenza (in lieu of dysenterry)). Eh, I'm weird. Maybe just a straight up sequel where Link fights another great evil or a prequel that answers questions about the Dark Interlopers.

I love the idea of a game following up on ST. Like others here have said, there's a whole new world for them to explore, and with the industrious setting I wouldn't be surprised if they take the Industrial Revolution feel of ST even further. Who knows, maybe they'll come up with cars or guns or whatever technological advancement and make it work within the confines of Zelda.

Honestly I'd rather Nintendo created a Zelda game that does not have any connection to any previous game. For me this would be quite interesting to start anew and create a brand new universe with our beloved characters and land. Though I have to say Twilight Princess kinda gave the impression that a new adventure with the same Link would be made but it never happened... yet. Maybe Zelda Wii U will be a sequel to Twilight Princess, it's fairly Possible.

All in all I wish Nintendo would move away from the trend of making sequels for the series like so many other franchises tend to do, I would be more than happy if Zelda began from square one, I think it would bring more possibilities story wise since Nintendo wouldn't have to worry about the connections between other Zelda games.

That might lead to a foregone conclusion...everyone dying/escaping while Hyrule is flooded...

I wouldn't mind a sequel to the Minish Cap that explains how Vaati was sealed in the first place. While we defeat the guy in-game, it never explains how one, he got stuck in the Four Sword or how it is that he appears in other games. MC makes it look like Link killed him, but we know that can't be true because he appears in other Four Sword games later on it the time line. Perhaps that game could explain also why there are four independent Links when the four sword is used and not the four holographic Link clones we get in MC. Answers are fun...though, they're sometimes lacking...>_<

Also, a game that is set in New Hyrule (as pretty much everyone has said) because there's a lot potential for a game set in the timeline. Even one where Ganon comes back where the Sea is drained or some divers bring up the statue...New tech (at least trains) and probably guns (oh no) could appear I guess, but I would hope that Link just gets some nifty gadgets to go with the theme...

@Quaffler: I really want to play as Groose too. Hey, maybe we could get a Groose side-game and save the world from some giant evil thingy...using his cannon and other Groose inventions...D;

I think Twilight Princess. The ending kind of opened up a door to a sequel. I know the mirror was destroyed, but they could easily turn Midna into Thor and give her the ability to return to earth to help undo the misdeeds of an unforgiving member of the Twili race. I think it would be great to see Midna again, she is my favourite companion after all!

I also think we should get a sequel to SS/Prequel to TMC because the story of the Picori Blade and the Hero of Men was only briefly explained, and it could explain why we can't go back to Skyloft in any other Zelda games.

As much as i hate it i'll say Skyward Sword.

I wouldnt say it was 'deserving' of a sequel, but with a largely unexplored land not governed by any political rule and a monarchy about to begin and become what it became in the Zelda mythology, SS leaves a lot of room for expansion on what it sets up, i actually feel like the game was more of an introduction to something more than the story it told, it left off at such an intriguing and could-be rich point of the Zelda series origins (in relation to the monarchy and socialising Hyrule etc)

Give Twilight Princess a sequel, a direct sequel at that. I don't have much to say, just don't include Midna but have some other threat in the way. :)

I think either TP or SS needs a spiritual successor/sequel. TP2 would err more on the spiritual successor side, with a number of references and the same concepts and game style, almost like TP was to OoT. It would have a story dealing with the Twili or maybe Ganondorf. And SS2 would more of a direct sequel, maybe continuing the fanfic feel of SS by having the new Link be the son of the recently deceased SS Link, with Zelda as the mother. This new hero would to face a new evil threatening the future of the newly founded surface kingdom.

I have fanfics like that:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4665742/1/The-Great-Desert

And the in-progress remake, which will include more train-technology than the first one as well as Skyward Sword mythology as both SS and ST hadn't come out/had barely come out at the writing of the first story:

The Greater Desert Chapter 1: Prologue: The Threads of Time, a legend of zelda fanfic | FanFiction

Both stories are set in a Hyrule post-drying of the Great Sea and the invention of Hyrulean firearms.

If Nintendo makes an actual game sequel anything like these stories, Nintendo owes my co-writer and I places on the dev team. (It won't happen).
