My my, 2010, eh?
Being biracial means that my ancestors come from different parts of the globe that seem to be total opposites as far as culture goes. My maternal ancestors originate from France; most of them came to the US long ago and settled in the state of Louisiana. However, genetic testing has found that there's a significant amount of mtDNA that originates from Germany, Italy and other places, and there's also a meager degree of Native American influences, including Blackfoot. Judging from the rules of blood-quantum, I'd probably be 1/16[sub]th[/sub](?) Native. So this means I have a menagerie of ancestral roots, at least on my mom's side.
My paternal ancestors originate from the Indian sub-continent and Sri Lanka, a country off the coast of India. My dad came to the US in the 1970s in search for a better life, and he was alone, so any recent paternal family members still reside in Sri Lanka. As far as I know, that is as far back as my paternal ancestry goes. :/
