....and they just give it away or sell it.
How do you feel? Does this affect your friendship?
Two weeks I gave a crochet kit to a friend. She was bored and depressed. She wanted to do some crochet. Not even a week later she made a doll and immidiatly put it up for sale. Mr Vee thought this was a big no. It is the idea behind all this that bugs him. "You give her something out of friendship and to cheer her up and she immidiatly uses this to make money".
So did something like this happen to you?

In your particular case I don't really see anything wrong with this. If she just up and sold the crochet kit it would be one thing, but it seems like she used in in the fashion you were expecting and thought she did a well enough job that somebody might be interested in purchasing what she made using the gift you gave her.

I see your point and normally I wouldn't mind either but she said before she went home she only wants to make money with her hobbies and if she won't make a profit she quits because a hobby is not interesting enough without a profit.
I didn't think too much of it until now.

I would find it really cool if I gave my friend some crafts and they found a way to monetize it. It doesn't take away from their appreciation of it, if they can turn it into a small business venture then good for them I say.

If I gave an object to someone and they sold that object, that's way weirder. But all my friends are broke so I wouldn't take offense. Most people would though, and I can see why because it's quite insensitive.

I think the goal here is the defeating of depression, and it seems to have done that, she made something and sold it. That is good in my book. :)

Many people like turning their hobbies into side hustles for some extra cash. I don't personally see the issue with it! She's using the crochet kit effectively, which means your gift is genuinely appreciated on her part.

Like others have said, if she had given the kit away or sold it, there would be a bigger issue. In my own case, I find that I just appreciate any gift people give me, even if it's something I'll never use. There are even some times where gifts just take up space and I don't really do anything with them, so then I think giving them away (after sufficient time has passed) is fine.

She hasn't sold anything yet. She put it on fb for sale but nobody bought it yet. And personally I don't have a problem with it but my husband doesn't see it like this. Neither did this affect our friendship. But the intention for this thread is not really about my situation but if YOU ever had something happen to you

I'm the same way. Someone can give me a piece of junk but having been given it makes it unique so I gotta hold onto it or at least give it a try. Some of my favorite gifts are ones with no inherent value
