What is your favourite generation? Or perhaps your favourite game may even be a spin off title?

For me due to nostalgia Gen 4 has a solid place in my heart - I sunk countless hours into playing it as a kid when it came out so maybe the memories just bring me back to a time in my life with few worries or responsibilities.

Since then the game I've had the most enjoyment from is honestly Pokemon Violet. Despite all of the bugs and issues surrounding the release I've had a real blast with the game and the DLC additions so I'm satisfied and looking forward to see what comes next.

5 hands down. It’s honestly the only one I ever really see myself returning to in the future. It’s the only generation that feels like it doesn’t suffer from being filled with abhorrent balancing and team building issues like gens 1-4 while also not being overly gimmicky and half finished like 6-9. It’s like Game Freak and the Pokemon company sat down and decided that they were going to really try their hardest to make Pokemon as good as it could be, only to find out that actually putting in effort just lead to slightly lower sales and a bunch of people whining about a trash bag so they stopped caring afterwards.

I never actually played Platinum though, and I’ve heard that it fixes a lot of the issues I had with Diamond and Pearl, so maybe someday I’ll try that one.

I started with gen 2, and it'll most likely always be number one for me (especially if the series keeps on going as it has been for the past couple of gens). I don't know how many times I've replayed the gen 2 games by now, they're just that good.
But gen 5 comes close for me, I really wish they had kept going in that direction instead of what they did with gen 6...

3rd gen is my absolute favorite, it has my heart.

1 will always be special to me because it was my first pokemon game, I played it back in the day when it was first released (because I am OLD) and I’ve been in love with pokemon ever since!

I can vividly remember being absolutely FLOORED (heh) by the elevator when I was playing red, and I ran up to my parents to show them how cool it was.

I don't have a preference and I liked playing all the Pokemon games I have played.

I think I like Gen 8 and specifically Pokemon Sword the most of any game. I started with Pokemon Yellow and missed out on almost every game between that and Let's Go Eevee besides both Pokemon Stadiums and Soulsilver. Then I played through a game from each region still available so Brilliant Diamond, Pokemon Sword, Pokemon X, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Pokemon Sun, and Pokemon Scarlet. I also played Legends Arceus which was fantastic, but I thought the battle system was a net negative compared to the mainline games. The only region I've never played through is Unova so I hope that is remade soon.

Pokemon Sword is my most played Pokemon game because it has so many quality of life improvements compared to earlier games and features that add replayability. EV training is very easy, move relearning is super nice, and the game doesn't have much padding so it has a nice pace to it. I like to do nuzlockes, and Pokemon Sword has a lot of teambuilding options because of the wild area being near the start of the game so you can do all sorts of challenges. For example I did a run of only cats and dogs starting at the point you can find Yamper. I like all the games, but Pokemon Sword is just my favorite.

In spite of growing up with Red and Blue, my favorite generation is 4. DPP and HGSS are some of my favorite games.
Yes, Diamond and Pearl are a bit slow, but Platinum fixes that. Sinnoh is just such a cool region, with an equally cool mythology to go along with it. And as for the Gen 2 remakes, they remain, for me at least, the best remakes out of all of them.

Even though Gen 4 is my favorite, there are things that were done in later generations that I really think have improved the gameplay a lot. Being able to change your Pokemon's moveset on the fly, having access to your box anywhere you go, and not having to deal with the mess that is HMs and having to have a dedicated HM slave anymore are all great improvements.

As for my favorite game... it's Legends: Arceus. It mixes the region and mythology of Gen 4 with the some of the technical improvements of the later gens. I think my favorite thing, though, is watching the Pokemon just do their thing out in the wild (you can feed the Spheals and they roll right up to you and it's SO GOSH-DARNED CUTE).

Ironically, I tend to fall in love with the even number generations, Well there is bad in them usually starting at the start of a brand new console, they usually present a more wow factor because of that, along with all of the stuff they introduced to the series during those generations, from day and night cycles, to the physical special split, Gen 6, despite not having that much of a important thing to note, it was the first game to jump from 2D sprites to 3D models, and I always found Gen 6 to be crisper and more simple compared to the confusing mess of Gen 7, sometimes simpler is better. And while Gen 8 got rid of the National Dex, had a lot of side projects like the return of Mystery Dungeon that was lacking in Gen 7, and some really good Sinnoh games to boot. I always find the best ones to be the even ones because of that.

I have a soft spot for Generation 3. Pokemon Emerald is not only my favourite Pokemon game but one of my top 10 favourite games of all time. It has one of my favourite dexes, my favourite villainous teams, and a great region to boot. Could be some nostalgia bias at play as it was my intro to the franchise, in fact there definitely is, but regardless I don't think Gen 3 will ever be dethroned for me.

For me its Gen 8. Personal bias obviously with it being my first game and all. But it is an awesome game. Its no where near as glitchy as gen 9, its got good characters, a surprisingly deep villain. Overall its a great game and I like it not just because Galar is based of England and I live in England.

Gen 8 also had a lot of good games outside of Galar.
