Whatever Happened To? - Create Little Stories!

Shadsie

Sage of Tales
Inspired by the "What happened to the Kikwis?" thread. Pick one or more of the ancient races of Skyward Sword that doesn't appear in any of the other games. Write a little mini story in the thread speculating upon what happened to them. This doesn't have to be what you think is canon. It can be what you think is canon, or it can be humorous or dark in a way that wouldn't actually work for Nintendo. Whatever! Be creative and have fun!

My First Mini-Saga (I wrote it like a historical footnote):

The Perils of the Parella -

As of the modern Hyrule era, evidence for the existance of these creatures only exists in fossils and legends. It is said that they ruled the rivers of Central Hyrule until a distantly-related race, the Zoras that we all know, moved in from the rivers in the lands bordering Hyrule and inland from the sea. It is said that the Zoras introduced many kinds of piscine-based foods to the Hylian people when they came to settle from the Sky, including sushi. Among Zora favorites that became Hylian delicacies among the Hylian nobles were various kinds of squid. It is said that the Parella were a sientient race, but apparently not sientient enough as the current concenus given the tracing of legends and obscure historical records leads us to believe the early Hylians did not manage Parella populations as well as their Zora forbears and overfished the animals into extinction.

There is an old tale that speaks of the first King and Queen of Hyrule attempting to ban the fishing of Parella wholesale, as they considered members of the race to be personal friends. However, the law went largely unheeded on the grounds that it was tit-for-tat in regards to the ancient Water Dragon that led their race eating some unwary Hylians. We will never know if the rumors are true.

Hyrule before Settlment was a harsh land, indeed.

Well, here's my little story of Kikwis and their fate:

Spirits of the Forest
As the Skyloftians descended to the land of the Surface, many lived near Faron Woods where the timid Kikwis lived. The new settlers were at first shocked and amazed to see the Kikwis because of their strange plant/animal hybrid. Though the Skyloftians were a bit cautious of the Kikwis at first, they soon began to form friendly interactions and cooperation thanks to Link, Zelda, and Owlan. In time, the Skyloftians (or Hylians as they are now called) lived in harmony with the Kikwis, even allowing their children to play with them. The children and Kikwis would play games such as hide and seek or bug-hunting. Some even role-play fairy-tale stories involving knights who boldly defend their land from evil monsters.

This era of peace came to end, however, when the stories of the Triforce spreads across the land. Men became plagued with the thoughts of ultimate power and sought to take the legendary piece by force. Civil war broke out as neighbor murders neighbor in the attempt to obtain the Triforce. Some of these men formed alliances with each other to ensure their own safety and success of reaching its resting place, many of which would later become the Dark Interlopers. These new alliances soon discriminated the other races, seeing them as untrustworthy creatures who want the Triforce for themselves. Kikwis, Gorons, Parellas, and Mogmas all became easy targets for the evil tribes because of their appearance.

The Kikwis, helpless to fight back against the wicked men, were driven deeper into the forest and it was there the Hylians that protect them discover their special secret. They are not plant/animal hybrids as once purposed by Owlan, but rather spirits of the forest. They take on certain appearances to survive their environment and would transform should the environment change dramatically. In the era of chaos, the Kikwis choose the forms of young Hylian children dressed in green garbs of the old skyloftian knights. They choose these forms as a means to avoid the wrath of the dark tribes for those tribes only trust their own race. As for the Kikwis' elder and guardian, the Bucha, as opposed of having his spirit take the form of a young child, he instead merged himself with the great tree to watch over his Kikwis. The human face of the Bucha emerged the tree's trunk, complete with his long mustache. As the era of chaos draws to a close, a new race emerged from the old Kikwi kind. They are known as the Kokiri, a race of external children that lives under the protection of the guardian known as the Deku Tree.

The Hero of Gears

When Hylians returned to the land that was their birthright, the technology they'd left behind in the ancient days was rusted and busted. One man of the Sky, however, had kept the old secrets of how to repair machinery, having learned from his father, and his grandparents before that, and so on. He had an inventive spirit all his own, as well. His name was Gondo. For his hard work in creating technologies to help the people of the Sky settle the Surface and in reviving what lost technology he could, he was called the Great Tinker... and the Hero of Gears.

The Hero of the Earth and Sky - the first King of the reborn Hyrule - was able to bring Gondo rare flowers that lived deep in the past. These, the Great Tinker cultivated and used to slough the rust off of many ancient machines. There was, however, precious little the man could do to revive the ancient workforce of robot-helpers, for they had brains made from complex circuits and delicate wiring that was destroyed by the heat and sand of the Lanayru area. Most of the little robots had ceased functioning long ago and would remain dead. Gondo had revivied one robot - his family's helper - but that little being had been kept well in the cool and shade of the family home in Skyloft away from the desert's harsh elements. His brain had remained...largely undamaged. Gondo tried very hard to revive some friends for his lonely metal friend, concerned when the robot spent all of his time beside the pedestal of the King's sacred sword, pining for the spirit inside of it that would never come out again. Sadly, the rust, dust and damage meant that as valiant as the Hero of Gears was, he was unsuccesful in reviving an ancient race.

However, there are rumors that he may have had some successes. It is said that the Sages are much too busy in prayer and in protecting the people via magic and the elements to maintain the temples that are their places of devotion. Some say they have seen little metal men floating about, doing maintence and repairs and that they scuttle off to the darkness as soon as they think they've been spotted. These tales are rarely told. After all, one has to be mightly superstitious to believe in something as ridiculous as Ancient Robots.

The Loss Of Skyloft

There once was a great power, held by the goddess Hylia. So great that Demise led an army to fight for it, destroying everything in his path. The goddess sent man to the sky to protect them. Demise was sealed away, but Hylia still feared for man, and kept them aloft until she would be able to destroy the beast. Eventually, a hero :) defeated Demise, and the Surface was safe once again. Hylia had no more need to protect the people among Skyloft, and the endless waterfall began to stop flowing. With the rumors of a Surface, the Skyloftians left the island to seek hope below the clouds. They settled with the hero :) within the temple and built homes. Skyloft and the boulders of rock surrounding it came together, ever growing. It was abandoned, empty, until a race of small bird-like creatures, the Ooca's, had found it. They created the City in the Sky out of this large rock. They lived in peace for centuries, much like the Hylians. The records of Skyloft were lost among the Hylians, untranslatable to most. It was forgotten...

The Ancient Robots failure

Even though LInk stopped the Technoblins, the robots were doomed 1000 years ago and were already killed by the Technoblins.
