Breath of the Wild What would a bleaker Breath of the Wild have been like?

Bleaker as in far more pessimistic, dreary and dark. Like something more similar to the first Fallout's New California. Link, a person from a time where good and evil are distinctly defined in black and white morality waking up to a brutal morally ambiguous and in some places, a morally bankrupt Hyrule where people are willing to do anything just to survive and get by on a day-to-day basis. Even if it means committing acts that would be either questionable or downright considered "Evil" or morally wrong in pre-calamity Hyrule.

A dog-eat-dog land full of warring factions where only the smartest and strongest survive as a post apocalyptic world should be. No Hope, No Innoncence, only Violence and only Death.

I'm using medieval art to help carry my point across as Hyrule itself is a medieval land.

Like everyone and everything beyond the usual monsters, killer robots, and Yiga warriors, wants to kill Link, violate his corpse and make jerky out of his @$$, "Hero of Hyrule" be damned.

It'd probably look a lot like Elden Ring. The two games share a lot of the same gameplay and narrative DNA, with the key difference being that society in BotW goes on while in Elden Ring it's deteriorated. The decay of the Triforce Elden Ring has torn the lands asunder and driven the inhabitants mad. The few clinging to sanity do so with only the faintest hope that things will get better.

Elden Ring is BotW if BotW committed to everything falling apart.

I wish Nintendo showed us post apocalyptic settings as the hopeless, cynical and bleak environments that they really are. There is no simple "moving on" in a post apocalypse where basic resources would be scarce. how can anyone "move on" after losing everything in said apocalypse and while in an environment where the chances of survival is low.
