Moving this to entertainment. And to reply to the topic I love Slade. A very underappreciated british band who had - during the 70's- almost as much top 10 hits as the Beatles

Well, subjectively speaking, these are the bands I listen to that I don't hear mentioned very often in my social circles, so as far as I know, not too well known:

  • Artist Vs Poet
  • Atreyu
  • Blue October (Favourite Albums: "Consent To Treatment", "History For Sale", "Approaching Normal" and "Sway"
  • Cannibal Corpse ( Favourite Album: "Butchered At Birth")
  • The Darkness (Favourite Album: "One Way Ticket To Hell")
  • Haysi Fantayzee (Listen to them at your own risk! Favourite Song: "Shiny Shiny")
  • Hi Fashion
  • Kaiser Chiefs
  • The Neighbourhood
  • Nightwish
  • Pansy Division (This genre [queercore] is not really for everyone...)

If I think of any others, I'll add them in.

Within Temptation is my favorite band. They play symphonic rock/metal, but most people, or at least Americans, don't know about them because they are Dutch and WT has yet to come over to the States on a tour. the lead singer, Sharon has a phenomenal voice that I could listen to all day, which I have done several times. Some fans complain that WT changes their sound too much, but that's what I like the most. Every song provides a new perspective. My only complaint is that their latest album, Hyrda, is mostly covers, when I was expecting more original songs.

Some other bands would be Theatre of Tragedy (Fade is my favorite song ever), Krypteria, and Silentium.

The Inkspots. They are a way old band, probably all members dead now. They were big in the 30s and 40s. I only found them through playing Fallout 3, but after that I listen to them a lot. It's an uncommonly known band simply because they were big so far back that now you don't really here their type of music even.

Eels are a band I always find people unfortunately aren't aware of. Really brilliant music, if you're interested I recommend listening to the album "Daisies of the Galaxy" in full and in track order.

Also Death Cab for Cutie. The only album of theirs I've heard properly is "Plans" but it's absolutely fantastic!

Hope I helped you a bit :)
