What is Your Guilty Pleasure?

I dress as the docor a lot and I randomly start using my sonic. Ive also got a plush Dalek perched on top of my tv. I think that speaks volumes about me.

Actually feel no guilt towards any of that. No shame!

"Guilty" pleasures that aren't really guilty to me, but the world would probably want to shame me over. (World can go eat itself...)

I'm in my 30s and still watching cartoons and anime. Yes, I am familiar with Spongebob and Adventure Time without actually having kids of my own. Pffft!

I like young adult and fantasy genre novels. Sure, I have the excuse that I'm trying to make it writing some of my own, but, really... Fantasy is only a notch above porn on the serious-literature respect-o-meter.

Even worse? I write fanfiction. While I don't do the sterotypical "writing to see fictional characters bang each other" stuff (my work tends to be Genfic, adventure and straight up drama stories), but, this hobby buts me on a level of geekiness that's like... worse than most geeks, it would seem.

The vidoegames I like are, obviously with me being on this site, mostly Nintendo. I suppose I can get away with liking "tame games" as an adult in that I'm female, but still... it's kind of like my love for the animation arts and fantasy lit.

I love U2. Sure, like most, I think their 80s stuff is better than most of their current stuff, but I like their current stuff, too! It's sort of a meme online that (lead singer) "Bono is a ******!" and people are not supposed to/ allowed to like him or the band because of their precieved-to-be-pretentious idealism in their involment in world affairs (go to a U2 concert, at some point during it, Bono *will* preach. I know, I've been there and seen it). I don't care. I like their music and even admire the idealism. So pfffth!

Guilty pleasures I actually feel a little guilty about...

Whenever I go to Teavana or another fancy tea shop. I like really good tea, but the money I'll spend on it makes me feel weird when I can get the regular Lipton swill at the grocery store for much cheaper. It's not as good, though... oh, no, children, it is not nearly as good. Loose-leaf, high quality teas... and I know it's just tea, just something nice to get for myself every once in a while, but I always feel like I've awakened somewehre in Las Vegas next to a stranger after a tea-buying spree.

I feel similiarly guilty whenever I visit a Gertrude Hawk store in the mall. (They're a choclatier).

Pretty much whenever I spend a little "too much" money on some minor luxury. Being raised thrifty and spending life relatively poor, and living at the mercy of others kind of makes me twitchy about money.

Fishing. I mean, I love fishing. I have this belief that humans are a predatory species and that some of us are more predatory than others and must feed that urge in some way. Some feed it with videogames or horror novels, I need to feed it by actually killing stuff every once in a while. My inner hunter-gatherer comes alive when I'm at a creek or a lake with a pole in my hands. At the same time, once I actually catch fish I want to turn into a tasty lunch, I get a little bit of guilt over having shoved a hook through their faces, dragging them up into the air where they are drowning and, of course, taking my knife to them. Yes, I am someone with a predatory urge enough to want to kill and eat, yet with enough empahty to feel sorry for my food.

I'm in my mid twenties and I enjoy cartoons/anime/manga/comics. And video games, of course. I also love stuffed animals, dolls, and action figures. And board games. I also enjoy old lady things like knitting and crocheting.

But I suppose I don't really feel guilty about those things. Society certainly doesn't smile on my hobbies at my age, but whatev.

I do have one guilty pleasure that I do feel guilty about: Shopping. I love shopping. If I have the money, I'll spend like there's no tomorrow. On stuff I need, on stuff I don't need, on stuff that I never knew I needed...
I've gotten better with it though.

Sigh.
Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

It's a little awkward when you like a show that seems to be cherished by kids half your age. If I hear someone mention Avatar or Korra irl, it is usually in association with a child 10 years old or younger. Should I be ashamed or embarrassed? Heck no, that kid must be cool, and we clearly share an awesome taste in TV shows. The issue is when someone older than me knows I watch it and I have to hear the constant babbling about how that's a "kid show." Fine. Get me a juice box and leave me alone. I love it.

I have a few:

-I still sleep with my baby blanket it, it's weird, you don't have to tell me that. It's so childish, but I can't part with it. My mom's ultimate threat towards me is to throw it out, and I always scream "NO, DON'T". It has a lot of sentimental value to me. If I was offered a million dollars, or my blanket, I would definitely choose my blanket. The best part is that I have two, but unfortunately one is almost torn to shreds and the other is perfectly fine. I CANNOT sleep without having both of them. I'm guilty of still being a baby, sue me.

-Crime shows are my ultimate guilty pleasure. My current top three crime shows are The Mentalist, Castle, and Rizzoli & Isles. If some of you didn't know already (which I'm sure the majority of you already know), I ship everything with everything. So I go on emotional roller coasters and spill my feels everywhere because of these ships. Jisbon, Caskett, and Rizzles are my three major ships and I cry because 2/3 of them are not canon. Seriously, give me a crime show and I'll watch it. I'll watch it so hard my television will get creeped out.

-Cats. Yeah, you heard my right, cats. My dad and I will sometimes make runs to PetSmart to buy cat food, and he'll purposely take me to the cats that are up for adoption. It's so hard not to cry because I know I can't adopt them all. Every cat, no matter how evil they may seem, will always be cute to me. I just love cats so much. </3

OKAY THERE. :kawaii:

My man and I used to go to a Chinese buffet restaurant practically every week - we hardly ever go there anymore since we moved a town over, making it too far a drive to bother with in the light of nearer Chinese places. Anyway, next to this place is a Petco. They'd have adoptable cats in the front of their store, so after we'd eat, we'd visit the Petco and play with the cats. We'd play with the ferrets in the store, too. It was like our weekly trip to the pathetic-zoo, mostly because we both love kitties.

Stalking boomerang for Teen Titan, Ed,Edd&Eddy , Cow & Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, & otherwise. The older cartoons are so much better than the ones now! oh & Looney Toons!!! Anyone remember those? The new ones suck compared to the older ones.

I also like to randomly cosplay as some of my favorite video game, cartoon, & anime characters, like Tetra, Konata, Nabooru, Daisy, Yuri, Yuki, Haruhi, May, Kagami, Yui etc. when I'm home alone or with friends who like the same thing.

I have some new ones.

I like Nickleback and everyone I know hates them so I think it's more embarrassment than guilt. I also love Katy Perry (even though she has kissed more girls than I have :P).
