Image if nintendo would make a game where you can can pick to fight as any character from the entire zelda franchise for example if i was to choose my character i would pick Zant and try a battle against Ghirahim
What if Their Was a Zelda Tournament Game

It sounds like an idea almost similar to Super Smash Bros in many respects, at least to me. I feel if Nintendo did release a Zelda tournament game at this stage in the series' life, there wouldn't be enough characters to go around. Perhaps it could have several offshoots, such as a Versus mode (your typical X character vs Y character), Adventure mode (Taking any one character through their own personal story, could be of varying lengths for each), Arcade/Survival/Time Attack (somewhat like Versus, but with several stages; Survival lasts as long as you can; Time Attack is a...time attack mode -- you object is to beat the stages in as fast as possible) et cetera to compensate for the lack of [worthy] characters? There are many directions Nintendo could take this in, from the gameplay style to stages involved and even for plot significance! I'm thinking something like this would be totally non-canon, but the concept really sounds fresh and like it would work if Nintendo took the time with it! xD

Like Ventus said, the Zelda franchise isn't big enough for a game like this to be possible. I don't even think that Nintendo would ever desire to spend the time on developing it, because it just isn't worth it.
Let's take Pokemon for example. There are so many Pokemon (I would argue that 649 is a bit too much) that you can have something like a Pokemon battle tournament. I think this has already been put into the games themselves, as well as made into some spinoffs. Pokemon brawls are worth Nintendo's time.
Now, let's look at Metroid. There are nowhere near enough [good] characters in Metroid for Nintendo to even think about creating a whole separate game in which you can have the characters battle one another. It would not be worth their time, and neither would a whole Zelda battle tourney game be (and Mario would be kinda dumb- the characters don't seem like they're into battling, it's more like go-karting, partying and tennis for them

However, I would love to play a game like this. It kinda reminds me of Tekken/Soul Calibur mashed up with Super Smash Brothers.
Maybe, as the series develops further, this could be possible.

Sounds like SSB- series to me. Except they don't have any Zelda characters there nowadays other than Link, Zelda/Sheik and Ganondorf.
