When you think of certain game consoles what games from that console do you think of as an iconic game from that system?(I'm focusing on Nintendo consoles) Mine would be:
NES: Super Mario Bros.
SNES: Super Castlevania 4
N64: OOT + MM(I couldn't decide)
Gamecube: Wind Waker
Wii: Twilight Princess
What do you think?:P

It's pretty obvious to me what represents the consoles listed, even if they aren't my favorite game:

NES: Super Mario Bros.
SNES: Super Mario World
N64: Super Mario 64
Gamecube: Luigi's Mansion
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy

Those are the games that pretty much defined those systems. I think people usually judge Nintendo systems by the Mario launch title that came with it (or was released closest to it's launch). With GCN and Wii, though, I could see someone saying Super Mario Sunshine or Wii Sports as well... it got more ambigous after the N65 era.

Now... if you were to ask me what my favorite game on each console was? Totally different answer:

NES: Final Fantasy
SNES: Super Mario RPG
N64: Ocarina of Time
Gamecube: Tales of Symphonia
Wii: N/A

Hmm... this is interesting. Here are the games that best represent the console (although they aren't necessarily my favorites):

NES: Super Mario Bros
SNES: Super Mario World
N64: Ocarina Of Time
GC: Super Smash Bros Melee
Wii: Wii Sports

So yeah...

Since I never had a NES/SNES...

N64: The several games with 64 afterwards but mainly Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time
GC: Luigi Mansion, Metroid Prime, Windwaker, and not for any good reason, Super Mario Sunshine
Wii: Galaxy, Mariokart, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Bros Wii

Gameboy: Pokemon, Golden Sun

NES: Blaster Master
SNES: Super Metroid and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
N64: Starfox 64 or Perfect Dark
GC: Super Smash Bros. Melee or Custom Robo
Wii: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Kind of an odd question, but it's interesting. I don't have too many games for my NES, so the only one I played a bunch was Blaster Master (still haven't beaten it). Yoshi's Island is my favorite game of all time, and it's especially memorable for me. Super Metroid is the first game I ever played, so it's also memorable. Starfox 64 is incredible, as is Perfect Dark. I got as hooked on Custom Robo as I did Melee, and Brawl is still the definition of a Wii for me. :P

Also, in my opinion at least, most of these games sort of define the identity of the console. Even if they weren't the most popular, unique or revolutionary, they seemed to match the feel of the console and take advantage of most of their traits.

NES: Super Mario Bros
SNES: A Link to the Past
N64: Super Mario 64
GCN: Super Smash Bros. Melee
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy (which could change with Zelda Wii)

Sadly it consists of mostly Mario, but I suppose that is why he's Nintendo's mascot.

I've never really thought about this before. Here's my attempt at a contribution though:
NES: Super Mario Bros. 3
SNES: Chrono Trigger
N64: Super Mario 64
NGC: Mario Kart: Double Dash
Wii: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

With the NES, SNES, and Wii, they're my favourite games for said system. Perhaps that's why I associate those games with themm. :P

GBA: Mother 3
GBA SP: Pokemon Emerald
DS: Super Mario 64 DS
DS Lite: Pokemon Diamond
DSi: Glory of Heracles
