My sister. I stood by her for all those years. I have been there day and night. I even had her in my home. But the last 3 till 4 months it's like the same old story. I got a job and pay for my and her groceries. But she hardly talks to me on skype or whatever. I feel like talking to a wall. I get no answers and yet every fridfay she acts like nothing happened while watching me paying for her and my groceries. This goes on for a while now. Not even a single reply to any of my posts but every friday expecting me to show up. I feel used for my money again. If this is what she wants...sorry *****.You messed with the wrong person...

It definitely sounds like she is comfortable and expecting the assistance that you are giving her. Unfortunately you have to set the boundaries and ensure that she doesn't cross them anymore. Yes, $50 per week is definitely not a large amount, however your sister may need to look at how she is spending that food allowance.

I would recommend having her over for a cup of coffee and just love her, and when I say love her, I mean love her enough to tell her how you feel, and how her habits are affecting your well being. You could also go shopping with her and explain to her that the bulk of that food allowance should be used for staple foods that are cheap and nutritious in value.

You also have to love yourself to be okay with letting her hurt in order for her to understand the boundaries. It seems that the dynamic of your relationship has changed. Instead of a sister-sister relationship, it has become sort of a master-slave relationship since she is expecting you to cover more of the groceries. Unfortunately that dynamic won't go back to sisterly until she starts pulling an equal amount of weight.

Is she not able to make more money on her own? Seems odd. Best of luck Vee.

That is how I feel too. I know she only has €50,- a week to spend but still.... It does feel like abuse

It is abuse. If I let a homeless person into my home I wouldn't allow him to put his dirty feet up on my table just because he felt comfortable in my presence. I would tell him to stop and if he doesn't he goes straight to the curb.

I've lent money to friends and family in the past and some of them still owe me over £12,000. Needless to say I was quite the fool back then and I felt the same way you did, abused, angered and upset those close to me could do such a thing. I don't understand the mindset myself as I've never like owing people money, if I break something I replace it or shoot the persons paypal some money.

Looking after myself first and foremost has been my motto ever since. I hope you have resolved the situation anyway.

Ah I let a friend use my phone once when I was 16 and when i got it back I found he had wasted £19 of my money on internet porn. Still haven't gotten it back.

I ordered some stuff on eBay a few weeks ago and my parcel was lost 'coz I missed one number in my postal code. Today I was told that I can't get a refund 'coz it was my fault. I promissed myself that I will check postal code twice here before making any online purchase to avoid such situations in future.
