A Link to the Past Uhh... How Do I Use the Shield??

I just started my first playthrough of ALttP, and unlike OoA, OoS, and MC, there is no button to use the shield... Is the shield always on?? Because I keep getting hurt. Please help me figure out how to use my shield! :S

You have to be facing the direction of the projectile. The Shield is pretty much always up. Just face the right direction. A lot of things can't be blocked, do its best to just walk around the projectiles. Hope that cleared it up! Have fun and good luck with one of the best Zelda games ever.

You use the Shield by having a shield that can block the projectile in question.

The regular shield can block arrows if you face them.

The red shield can block arrows or fireballs if you face them.

The mirror shield can block arrows, fireballs, or laser beams if you face them.

Thanks. That's what I figured, but the first shield's so tiny it hardly blocks anything... Honestly, knowing me, i could have screwed the whole thing up, so thanks!!
