[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Whenever I try to make a timeline, there is always something that contradict something else, so I decided to take on each game one by one, and see were it could fit in the timeline, the things that would be used for placement is the state of the triforce:triforce: and Ganon/dorf:ganondorf: at the start and at the end and other important back story.[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]In this section, I will only talk about the games were Ganon is present, therefore, some games, like MC and MM is not mentioned[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]The timeline starts within a small kingdom in the land of hyrule, The royal family has got the ToW and the ToP, Ganon(dorf?), still in his Gerudo form because he hasnt got the ToP, Trident or been to the dark world, steals the ToP, transforms into beast Ganon, kidnaps Zelda, but she divides the ToW into 8 shards. Link gather them, and kills Ganon using the silver arrows. Ganon is turned to ashes. Later, Link is killed and his blood is spread on the ashes of Ganon, thus reviving him, but because he hasn't got the ToP, he is reborn as Ganondorf, the Gerudo king.[/FONT]


[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]This supported by some evidence, like LoZ happening in a small kingdom in the land of Hyrule, when the whole land is united in Oot after a war. Also, the Ganondorf of Oot knows the secret of the triforce in the sacred realm. Also, AoLs BS doesn't fit anywhere but first[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]The Gerudo king Ganondorf goes to Hyrule Castle to propose a Peace Treaty, but his real intension is to steal the triforce. He tricks Link into opening the Sacred Realm, touches the triforce and get his wish of ruling Hyrule fulfilled, but the triforce splits because of his lust for power. Ganondorf is later defeated by the hero of time, then transforms into Beast Ganon using the ToP, gets defeated again, transforms back into Ganondorf and is sealed in the sacred realm, Link then goes back in time and warns the Royal Family. Links time traveling makes the timeline split.[/FONT]

The goddesses flood Hyrule to save it from Ganondorf. He then escapes from that seal too, and gets his magic and army back when the Hero of Winds draw the Master sword, he is later defeated by Link, and turned into stone at the bottom of the sea, and never returns on the Adult timeline[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]In LoZ, the ToP is stolen by Ganon, and the ToW is divided into 8 parts, Link collects the ToW, and defeat Ganon, In Links next adventure, He also reclaims the ToC to the royal family.[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]The royal family moves the triforce to the sacred realm to keep it from being stolen again. Next, The revived Ganondorf goes to hyrule castle, and through using Link, he enters the sacred Realm, and wishes for the world by using the triforce. The triforce splits and Link gets ToC, Zelda ToW and Ganondorf ToP, The timeline splits, but on both sides, he is sealed while still having ToP.[/FONT]

Some evidence people use to suggest this is:
+origin of Link's hat (we have an interview suggesting Fujibayashi specifically wanted a talking hat, so it seemed important to him)

+origin of monsters (I don't understand this one...)
+origin of Zelda's special abilities (as shown in OoT, ST, LttP, a few others I'm forgetting), attributed to the Light Force
+"so ended Link's first adventure" (paraphrased) at the end of the Japanese game
Some evidence against it:
-monsters existed before the BS, so I'm not sure why people use monsters as evidence
-"first adventure" quote removed during localization
-recent Aonuma quote saying OoT was first, until SS comes out

AoL's manual suggests this happens the other way around:

This is definately some evidence against my placing, but she could also be reffering to that Hyrule was one country at the time of the sleeping Zelda, then divided, then united again, so while it weakens my theory, it doesn't ruin it completely.

I can't think of anyway LOZ/AOL come first. I mean in OoT no one knows Ganondorf is evil at first except Zelda and Link, he was the king from the desert their wasn't any sense that he was hundreds if not thousands of years old. Plus the towns in AoL are named after the sages in OoT, I doubt it was the other way around (Besides real world game production obviously).

Yeah I know, I've tried to explain how ganon is in loz/AoL and OoT by saying that because he is revived after AoL without the ToP, he is reborn as Ganondorf, king of the gerudo, and everyone only knew about the demon pig Ganon. aslo Ganons attack in LoZ only happened in a small kingdom wich was only a part of the Land of hyrule, so it wasn't nesceseraly remembered to much later on.
the namings where there in 1987, when AoL were released, then OoT was released and for fun they named the Sages after the towns as some kind of easter egg, also it could be the other way around so it doesn't prove anything.

Long ago, in the kingdom of Hyrule, there apeared a Wind Sorcerer named Vaati. Vaati could bend the wind to his will and used this awful power to terrorize many villages of Hyrule. In his assaults on the villages, Vaati would kidnap any beautiful girls who caught his fancy.

This never happened in MC, yet no one (that I know of) disputes that it is meant to tell the story of what happens in MC. It's different because they didn't have MC planned at the time:

We did not think to develop a trilogy from the beginning. When we developed the first Four Swords game for GBA, we created a new Hyrule legend that said that a long time ago, evil Vaati brought crisis to Hyrule and people sealed that evil. We had some thought that we wanted to carry over that story into future titles some way.

Aonuma (almost positive it's him--but if it's Miyamoto that would explain why I can't find it) has said that he doesn't really like making games that depict another game's backstory because it limits their creative freedom. They don't worry too much about making every detail fit. Often you have to disregard some, like in the case with MC and FS, and earlier with OoT and LttP. Aonuma also said "If I said that a certain title was 'the first Zelda game', then that means that we can't ever make a title that takes place before that!" (this one's from ONM) I think he says this out of experience.

My conclusion: AoL's BS was written without future titles in mind, and one must either ignore the word "first" or ignore countless developer comments while jumping hurdles to get Ganon and the Triforce to fit; and we now know that "first" is not a good word. Sleeping Zelda was not the first princess named Zelda.

Also one in-game universe way to explain any discrepancies in the legends is just that, legends are passed from generation to generation. Since this is also the middle-ages more or less we can assume record keeping isn't exactly stellar either, especially with all the stuff Hyrule goes through plenty gets lost in the wake.
So as the legend gets passed down the story distorts from reality a little.

AoL could actually fit in 1998 if you used the infamous and disproven miyamoto order, with ooT Zelda being the first Zelda, but guess that's not worth too much:thinking:

I heard this too, but I feel that this is not quite the case of AoL, because it isn't nesceraly first, only at least the second game including both princess Zelda and the triforce of Courage.

So that is kinda choosing what you rely most on, I count in-game evidence as the stronger than developer quotes, also, a lot of timeliners put Alttp on one side of the timeline, far away from OoT, and LoZ/AoL on the other side, with no connection to OoT or Alttp, wich is equally contradicting against developer quotes. but, if you show me a developer quote from someone else than miyamote from post-twilight princess that is stating loz/Aol's placement, I will definately reconsider my timeline

Each of the races has a character fated to become on the sages later on. We named them after towns in The Adventure of Link so it would appear that the towns had been named after them. (In the world of Zelda, the ventus of Ocarina of Time occur before the events of The Adventure of Link.)
