I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't knock them down. How do I get passed them?

I don't know what you mean, Temple Pillars?
I know with some pillars you need to roll into them to get anything off the top of them fall off. But also there are pillars that have a little fan mechanism on top which you need to use the Gale Boomerang on in the right order.

Only use that though if you are really stuck, You don't want to take the fun out of the game by using it once then going back every 5 minutes.
