Things That Are on Your Mind

Don't you get paid?? Over here we get paid after the first two days. If I call in sick I have to wait for two days before I'll get paid and in some cases even after 1 day. I had this before. I need to get it checked by the Doctor one day but I'm always like "nah it will pass."
I'm glad the pain killers are kicking in! Be careful my friend. I know it sucks because of work but health is more important.

Since I am employed as a "Casual" and not "Part Time" or "Full Time" I do not get guaranteed hours, sick pay or annual leave.

One advantage is casual loading though, so every hour I do work I get around a 20% higher hourly rate than part time and full time employees. Since I have this extra pay, plus work gives me as many hours as I want anyway despite them not being legally bound to give me more than 3 per week and I never usually take sick days I think these advantages outweigh the things I miss out on. Plus I can take (unpaid) leave whenever I want as long as I give them three weeks notice.

Now I'm on about $20.67 an hour but a part time or full time employee (my age) would only get $16.76 per hour. Last week alone the casual loading was an extra $75, so usually it works out well.

So $15.94 US, which is more then double the Federal Minimum Wage in the US. That's a pretty sweet gig.

Okay I understand. That's the same over here with casuals. Not getting paid when they get sick. The payment per hour is not as high over here. Or at least not that I know of. Yeah I understand the reason why it's better for you to get to work rather than being sick. You could use that money! But if you take a good rest and take the pain killers you could be up and running in no time.

Yeah, it's not bad for McDonalds. It's even above the minumum wage in Australia I believe.

Although, the cost of living in Sydney is absolutely ridiculous, probably one of the highest in the world. If I was getting paid less then I'd be screwed.

You'd think this, but it costs twice as much to live in Australia than it does in America, and Jimmy developed that salary over a few years iirc.
