The Sage of Tales' Library

Sage of Tales
You walk down the cavernous halls. Your footsteps echo on the tile. This feels like a holy place. You feel slightly cold as a breeze brushes past you. There are shelves with rows upon rows of books. You shudder as you remember what you were told - these are all stories written by *one* crazy person.

Welcome to my library.

This is a thread I decided to create out of boredom. I decided that I wanted to list all of the Legend of Zelda fan fiction I have written so far, with links and short summaries. I've already posted some of my individual works in the Fan Works forum, but this is is *all* of them This is to serve as a handy-dandy general reference for anyone who, for whatever reason, wants to read many stories by one crazy person (me).

I plan to edit/update this whenever I write something new. Stories are in descending order of newest first, oldest last. These are just my Zelda works. These are works on fanfiction dot net for ease, though these stories can also be found at North Castle.

The general nature of my work tends to gravitate toward the dark/gritty and meloncholy. I don't flinch on blood. These are things to keep in mind if you are sensitive. When I "rate" high, it's for a reason.

~~~~~~~~~
My current Legend of Zelda fan fictions, in descending order newest to oldest:
Your Money or Your Heart
Rated G.
Warnings: One of my tamest fics, no blood, but contains passages from the Bible for artistic effect.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. The price of a soul should never be cheap. The parades and feasts had stopped for Link long ago. The faded Hero pays a visit to his old friend, the successful merchant Malo. They talk about the things that they've sold their souls to. Oneshot/single chapter.
Dusk and Scars
Rated PG-13/Teen.
Warnings: Some violence. Mentions of sex and sexual innuendo. Flirty, flirty Midna. Written for people who *like* the Link x Midna pairing, all others may wish to avoid this.
Summary: Twilight Princess based - an alternate universe/what-if taking off from spolier canon event. A romance/drama based around Link and Midna living as a married couple and politics in the Twilight Realm. Mid-length fic/4 Chapters.
Three Harmonious Friends
Rated PG.
Warnings: A little bit of blood.
Summary: Oracle of Seasons based. While out exploring Holodrum with Ricky the kangaroo, Link gets badly injured by a monster. It is up to Ricky, Moosh and Dimitri to save his life. Written because I like the Pets and wanted to give them a spotlight. Oneshot/single chapter.
The Great Desert
Rated PG-13 to R (your milage may vary).
Warnings: Where do I begin? Alternate Universe/New Era/Original Hyrule. It references several/most of the existing games, but is set in its own era containing some things unconventional to Zelda, particularly in the ways of technology. Has its own crack Timeline. Also, the good ol' sex and violence are somewhat in abundance in this story.
Summary: New Era Hyrule, a Hyrulean *Western* that gradually runs into Science Fiction. "The once beautiful land of Hyrule is now covered by the unforgiving sands. Scorched by the heat of the sun, the green lands are scattered and few. Most people have lost faith in the goddesses and in the legends. In this faithless, dry country, it is time for a young man to bring back the peoples’ hope – with the Gun, the Blade, and the Courage in his heart…" Multichapter, 16 Chapters, Novel Length.
Healing Hands
Rated PG
Warnings: Blood.
Summary: Zelda II/Adventure of Link fic. A take on saving the woman's sick daughter in the Harbor Town of Mido. Link contemplates hands that kill and hands that heal. Oneshot/single chapter.
The Animals Aged
Rated PG
Warnings: Animal death.
Summary: Ocarina of Time based. A take on Link's childhood among the Kokiri and his unexpected growing up after the magical sleep, told with a theme about the forest and deer, fawns that grow into fine strong stags. One of my quieter, stranger fics. Oneshot.
Eternally Sad Eyes and The Wind Blows to the Future.
Rated G.
Summary: Wind Waker fics. They are companions to each other. Each can be read solo, or together. Link and Ganondorf, respectfully, ponder the nature of heroism and the past. Each story revolves around their thoughts on the Hero of Time's statue.
Wolfhide
Rated R.
Warning: Graphic bloody violence, and some might say I fudged a very tiny bit of canon (on purpose) for the sake of plot.
Summary: Twilight Princess based, post game. The village of Ordon is a community with a livestock-based economy and small children. It is no place for large, frightening predators. Rusl, Link, a tragic omission and a tragic mistake. (Actually, this is one of my favorites among my own fics, probably because writing and posting it took bravery). Oneshot.
Master and Servant
Rating PG.
Warning: A little blood.
Summary: All games/any game universe you wish to imagine. Link has a dream/vision in which the spirit of the Master Sword gives him some much-needed encouragement. I wrote and posted this BACK IN FEBUARY '09, *BEFORE* the leak of the new Zelda Wii picture. I want to make that perfectly clear. I'd made the sword-spirit female, too, which made me double...triple...quadruple take when that new game picture came out and everybody started speculating. It was like I'd unintentionally predicted something! Oneshot.
That's What Courage Is
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Violence, blood.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. A take on what the people of the village of Ordon went through when their children were taken at the beginning of the game. Focus is on Rusl. Oneshot.
Desert Sunset Painted in Shades of Fire
Rating: G-PG
Warnings: This story revolves around a theme of death/facing mortality. Link x Midna in spirit, with mention of Link x Ilia in practicality. Link and Zelda are just very good friends in this. Endgame spoilers.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. It is many years after the events of the game and Link is dying of a disease that Queen Zelda's doctors just can't figure out. Link has one last adveture to reflect upon the past and bring his soul to peace. Oneshot. (I really like this fic, but it hasn't gotten a lot of reviews. It's one of my pride without popularity things).
A Night on the Mesa
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Violence, blood, dark theme.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. Link comes to the realization that the Shadow Beasts are what remainds of Midna's people. He thinks about the many he has killed and the brutal, painful costs of the war he's fighting. Oneshot.
See You Later
Rating: PG-PG-13
Warnings: Link x Midna, blood.
Summary: Twilight Princess. Spoilers for the end. Semi-alternate of the ending of TP in that Link is quite hurt after fighting Ganondorf. Midna helps Zelda and the Group take care of him. Good ol' hurt-comfort stuff. Oneshot.
Agents of Chaos
Rating: PG
Warnings: Somewhat dark in theme.
Summary: Original Legend of Zelda based. The young, captured princess Zelda has a meaningful conversation with her captor, Ganon, before the final battle. He knows of many lifetimes and secrets of ages past that she never dreamed possible. "They are always Zelda. If the Hero defeats me, ask him his name. It is always Li-" Oneshot.
Sacred Flesh
Rating: R
Warnings: Graphic violence/descriptions. One disturbing scene of a sexual nature. Just trust me and be aware of the R rating. Link x Zelda. Ganondorf x Zelda (onesided).
Summary: Ocarina of Time/Post Majora's Mask. Zelda is Queen, Link is married to her as her Prince. Unfortunately, in a battle to defend Hyrule, Link suffers fatal wounds. A Gerudo cult spirits away his body, knowing that it can serve as a key to the ressurection of King Ganondorf. The results are gruesome to say the least. Honestly, I believe this is the most disturbing fan fiction I have ever written. Mid-length fic, 4 chapters.
Days Don't Matter Anymore
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Graphic descriptions, the destruction of an entire world.
Summary: Majora's Mask. A little take on what if Link had failed to stop Moon. Oneshot.
Slaughtering the Goat
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Death/death scenes.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. A take on Link's childhood in Ordon and why he don't see his parents in the game. Has a theme revolving around the village livestock and how they are not slaughtered for meat except for very important reasons, such as in times of starvation and sickness. This is possibly my best fic. Oneshot.
Hero's Blood
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Blood, dark themes, largely based on a non-canon source.
Summary: Zelda II/Adventure of Link based. This is also based upon the Legend of Zelda comics by Valiant publications. Taking the subplot of the actual AoL game, this is my explaination for why Ganon has a prescene in the comics (when he was *supposed* to be ashes after LoZ). Link is captured by Ganon's minions and is taken for sacrifice over Ganon's ashes deep inside Death Mountain. The young Hero escapes with his life, but not before being badly wounded and spilling some of his precious blood over those thirsty ashes... Oneshot.
Balance
Rating: R.
Warning: Very graphic, bloody, gorey violence.
Summary: Any/Original Zelda universe. A play upon themes of Courage, Wisdom and Power. What might happen if the whole Triforce were brought together in one bearer? What if that bearer was Ganondorf? What if it wasn't, in the end, an entirely *bad* thing for Hyrule? Short fic, 3 chapters.
In Your Shadow
Rating: PG
Warning: Violence. Link x Zelda. Large role played by an original character.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. After the game events, Link and Zelda are married. Link gets killed. Zelda moves on and finds love again with a man who knows he'll never live up to Link's shadow. Short fic, 2 chapters.
The Hero's Heroes
Rating PG-13.
Warning: Blood.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. Link gets caught in an ambush and gravely wounded. Midna sends him to Kakariko village, where his friends show their own brand of quiet heroism by seeing to his care. Heavy focus on Colin. Oneshot.
Between the Wasteland and the Sky
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Blood/violence.
Summary: Twilight Princess based. Dark comedy. Link gets killed while trying to escort Telma's wagon across the plain. He meets up with a very honest and sarcastic ancestor who reveals to him that he's actually died many times upon his adventure and that he'll come back to life as soon as the mysterious entitity known as the Player bids it. This is my first Zelda fic, and accordingly, it is terrible. Oneshot.
I have a couple of Zelda 2 fics. Writing for old skool is fun.
I made this topic out of sheer boredom, so don't think too much of it. Also, this way, if I write anything new, I won't have to make a whole other thread for it - I have my own place.
I hope you mean "stay classy" as a compliment. Elsewhere around the Internet, I'm used to seeing it as an *insult,* as in implying that someone is being classless. I know that this thread is self-serving, but, as I said, I was really bored when I made it and it's a good way to get all my crap into one big pile.
I wasn't trying to be mean, no worries S-body.
I haven't been reading them in any kind of order. I won't bore you with reviews, so heres some quickies:
FAVOURITE STORY: Balance, just a pleasant exploration of the Zelda themes
BEST TITLE: Days Don't Matter Anymore, I'd almost call this title "epic"
and...
LEAST FAVOURITE STORY: In Your Shadow, but it was my own fault for reading it! XD
Still got quite a few of them to read. Phew!
I don't consider "In Your Shadow" one of my best, either. It's one of my early works. I probably should have given the "It's terrible" disclaimer that I gave "Between the Wasteland and the Sky."
Now, those are not my first fanfiction works by a long-shot. I'd been writing for Trigun, Pokemon and other things for years, they're just my first forays into Zelda fandom and I always find "first things for a new fandom" to be shaky.
You might want to read "The Great Desert" last if you're into short stuff, as that's my only truly *long* fanfiction. Along with "Slaughtering the Goat," it's my favorite, too - but you may not like it -- since it is *very* unconventional, very much in the "Alternate Universe" vein and I know that a lot of people dislike AU. Some people love it, some people hate it. My warnings are to be heeded.
