-CHAPTER ONE: The Dark Valley-

Somewhere, perhaps, far out in the distant cosmos... a goddess was crying. In her head, perhaps, was the Song of the Hero.

The water's upon the lake remained still for a long time. It was only until the lure of a fishing rod struck the surface that the lake mirrored the sky. A young boy named Link, whom had long since grown tired of his luck, decided one more time to try and catch a fish. It was then that his life changed forever.

"Hey now.. I'm sensing a strange aura-" came a voice from his pocket. Then, nothing.

"This boy will do," thought the dark skinned man, stepping forth from behind a tree line. He didn't want to frighten the young fisherman, so a certain calming spell had been cast. Link gazed out towards the lake in what first appeared as a drunken stupor.

"Hello, child. I see you have fashioned yourself a fishing rod.." the dark skinned man said, "I haven't got long, so maybe we can help each other.." he said, outstretching his arm and snapping his fingers. Simultaneously the lure was dragged under. Link slowly reeled in the fish, and once the hook was out of its lip.. Link returned his prize to the water.

"So you can see beyond the ponds surface. Perfect. My name is Ganondorf, and you can trust me."

"Link... snap out of this..." came the voice from Link's pocket.

Somewhere far away, a goddess wept.

The wind's blew open the gate's of Hyrule Castle.

"Curse these gales! For how long must we suffer the wind's torrents?!" cried the knight captain, slamming shut the gates. Up above, cresting the castle walls, an owl flew and landed on the arm of Hyrule's most beautiful woman.

"Gaepora, you have come," said the maiden.

"Hoo-hoot! Yes, your majesty.. I've come to tell you of an old evil.. although.. this time it is different.." the owl, Gaepora, began.

"How so?" asked the woman, whom the land of Hyrule calls Princess Zelda.

"It is tricky," said the owl.

"I see. Go, and spy for me." Zelda said, releasing Gaepora back into the sky.

The Goron, drapped in dark clothes and tattooed with the markings of the Sheikah, peered out from the shadows of the cave cliff. He saw a young boy wearing green slowly make his way through the valley. This was it.

"Hold it, Brother!" the Goron cried, bounding from the ledge and landing mere feet from the boy.

"You have gone too far, and must retreat. Beyond here is my home, and none shall pass!" the Goron roared.

"Sir, please, you don't understand. We seek the Sheikah to cure-" came a voice from Link's pocket, but a blinding flash of light burst forth from seemingly nowhere. The Goron had vanished, reappearing back upon the ledge.

"Fine then.. Link, you must fight. I'm so sorry you have to go through this..." the voice said, rather sadly, and the eyes of Link came into focus.

He remembered the words of Ganondorf: "KILL ALL WHO STIRS THE WATERS." Link drew his sword, and pointed the blade towards the Goron.

"Ha! Do not make me laugh, Brother! A puny little kid like you-" the Goron began, but fell to his knees in agonizing pain.

"What the hell?! I've never heard of magic like this..." the Goron wheezed. Link climbed the cliff, stepped towards the Goron, and raised his sword in a killing arc. All the Goron could do was stare hopelessly.

Then, another flash of light.

A woman, also wearing dark clothes and tattooed with Sheikahn symbols, dropped down from above and kicked Link off the cliff.

-CHAPTER TWO: The Ode to Farore-

Link parried the second blow, but the woman was far too quick for him to steady his sword and cast a spell. Amidst the flurry of attacks, a voice rang out from up high.

"IMPA! BEHIND YOU!" yelled the Goron, though it pained him to do so.

Impa turned her attention from Link, but not before she got a faceful of feathers. Gaepora appeared in a gust of wind.

"Hoo-Hoot! Everyone, hold!" he commanded. Link, eyes still ablaze, ran towards Gaepora, but Impa was fast to throw another deku nut. The flash of light made Link waver, allowing Impa enough time to land a final kick. Link was knocked to the ground, snapping out of his rage and returning to a stupor.

"I see, so the boy is possessed. You have come here not of your own free will, and seek to cure the demon inside of him. Darunia, fetch the mask," said Impa. The Goron, Darunia, left the chamber.

"Hoo-Hoo.. troubling this all is.The voice from the boy's pocket is not lying, but I do wonder what this sickly demon is plotting," hooted Gaepora.

"That is what we are about to find out." The Sheikan sounded grave. After a short while Darunia returned, holding in his hand a white mask with a red eye. He handed the mask to Impa.

"Let's see the truth." She donned the mask, but only for a second. Ripping it from her face, she let out a scream.

"Wh-what did you see?!" asked the voice from inisde the pocket.

"Madness! I-it's..blasphemy! War! This demon must be slain here, and now!"

"Calm down! The boy is innocent. First we must purge the demon from his body!" Gaepora flapped his wings wildly. Impa and Darunia exchanged troubled looks.

Outside, under the dim twilight, Link was put to sleep and placed within a Sheikahn circle. To cure this demon, they would need the Wind's of Farore. The ritual was performed, and the Wind's decended. Surrounding Link's body, the Wind lifted him into the air and engulfed him. Shortly thereafter he was returned to the ground, and the Wind's vanished.

"Did it work?!" cried Darunia. Impa put on the mask again.

"I see... a meadow... and..." Impa stopped, then said "the demon has gone."

"What?! To where?!" cried the strange voice.

"I am unsure. But we must find it and destroy it. I saw a meadow, and the smoke from Death Mountain."

"Coro?! I know of such a meadow! But how can we get there quickly?!" Darunia was frantic.

"Just leave that to me," said the voice from within the pocket.

-CHAPTER THREE: The Waking-

Gazing down upon the land she ruled, Zelda stood in deep thought. Suddenly, overhead a mighty gale ripped through the skies. She looked up, and gasped. Flying along with the wind was four figures, and one of them she recognized as Gaepora. He broke away from the others and flew down to her side.

"Gaepora! What is happening?!"

"Hoo-hoo! Your majesty, the evil is gathering at Death Mountain! Two of the Sheikah and a young boy is heading there now."

"No! Without the sacred Master Sword they won't stand a chance!"

"We haven't any time, your majesty. It is all up to fate now..."

Overhead, the wind's picked up speed.

The three warriors landed near the base of Death Mountain. Link had finally regained his senses, and was informed of the battle soon to take place.

"It has been a long time since I gazed upon the mighty Death Mountain, Brother! Thirty years it has been between now and my departure," said Darunia, memories of his past flooding back to him.

"Is the meadow nearby?" asked Impa.

"Yes... we can see it from here."

"Look!" cried the pocket voice, and all of them turned their attention towards a lone shadow standing in the center of the meadow. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that this shadow was the manifestation that had possessed Link.

"The shadow.. why, Brother, it looks like you!" Indeed it did. The shadow was like a dark mirror of Link, and right before their eyes came another figure, the man called Ganondorf.

"You have done well, boy! The Wind's of Farore has dispelled the evil spirit within you, and now it is mine to command. This land will fall!" Ganondorf shouted.

"No! We won't allow this!" the pocket voice cried, and Link dashed towards the two dark interlopers. Impa and Darunia trailed behind him, but a wall of flames blocked there path. The fire incircled Link and the two villians.

"You haven't a chance. This shade will kill you."

Link drew his sword and readied himself. The shade did the same. Soon they were locked in battle, and steel clashed with shadow. Just when Link seemed to get the upper hand, Ganondorf summoned another wall of fire, and pushed Link back. He was surrounded by flames.

"This isn't good, what now?!" shouted Darunia. Impa was at a loss for words. All hope seemed lost at this point.

Then, just as the flames brushed against Link's tunic, a powerful gust of wind shout outwards from his pocket, and neutralized the fire barrier.

"What?!" cried Ganondorf, but it was too late. The wind's had surrounded the shade and tore it to peices.

"Link, this is all I can do for you now..." the voice of the wind said. "I'm sorry."

Ganondorf drew his own sword. "Boy... you have made a grave mistake."

Impa and Darunia stepped by Link's side, and all three were prepared to fight to the death.

Ganondorf rushed forward with speed even the two Sheikahn's couldn't follow, and with one swing of his sword he knocked Impa and Darunia to the ground. Link swung his sword but came up short, then he too was knocked back. Ganondorf stood over Link's body.

"Link... run..." Impa gasped, clutching her chest. Darunia was out cold.

"The water's will soon be still. What a shame you must all die like this." Ganondorf raised his sword high.

"Link! No!" screamed an invisible voice, and another strong gust arose, striking Ganondorf and knocking his sword from his hand. In a split second, Link picked it up, and stabbed Ganondorf through the chest. Shadow's spilled out from the wound.

"How... could this... be?!"

"Silence, creature!" the voice of Impa. "By the will of the goddess, I shall seal you away!" She began casting the spell. Ganondorf was engulfed by a bright light, and vanished.

Somewhere, perhaps, the wind stirred the surface of a pond. And perhaps, somewhere far out in the distant cosmos, a goddess smiled.
