DAY 15: Final Vote Count

Rubik (5): Aaarrrgh, Spider-Man, Ragnarokio x3

With 5 vote against him, Rubik reached his Threshold and has been Lynched. But as we all know by now, the Daily Bugle isn't just one person, it's a whole team of people, and killing a team is pretty dang hard! Or rather, it would be hard if there were any members of that team left... Unfortunately, it seems all but one decided it was in their best interests to not show up for work today. Blasted deserters! Guess it's finally time to face the music, Rubik. He was The Daily Bugle, Town Aligned Newspaper, and he is truly gone now.

Not Voting (3): The rest

With 8 available votes, it takes 5 votes to reach a Majority. Rubik was at Majority when he was Lynched.

It is now Night 15. Night 15 will last for, at most, 1 hour while I prep the game end post, and then Day 16 will start and the game will end.

  1. A bunch of people piled on Rubik
  2. Rubik reached his Threshold and has been Lynched.

DAY 16

It's a pretty sad Day for our heroes... After all that was done to rebuild New York in the wake of the Maximum Carnage disaster... After Spider-Man's seeming defeat and return, just in time to save the city from the crazy killing spree of the original Hobgoblin... For it to all come to this?...

New York is a wasteland...

Daily bugle dead.jpg

It's heroes are dead or gone... It's people, broken... Those who escaped the city before things got really bad are the lucky ones... Those who survived to see what came next, not so much.

The Jackal has returned. Yes, I know, he was seemingly "defeated for good", but come on... Did you really trust that? It's comic books! Even the generic bad guys rarely stay dead, so what did you expect from the master of genetic cloning?

New York belongs to him now. Him and his crazy Spider-Legion... An army of mutated spider-monsters grown from distorted Parker DNA.

Jackal Win.jpg

They rule the city now, and any people who were trapped inside when the bridges were destroyed have been forced to serve their new mutated arachnid overlords. Of course, former city mayor Norman Osborn made it out on his private jet. So much for his promises to protect this city... I guess everything that happened in the wake of the Carnage disaster was all a publicity stunt. At the end of the day, the only person Osborn cares about is himself.

Spider-Man, the real Spider-Man, has been defeated once and for all, and there's no one left who can fight The Jackal and his Spider Army.
New York is no more. Now, there is only Spider-Island.

And the following players have Lost:

  12. 15377
  13. Silverfish
  14. Rubik
  15. KingofDominaria
  16. Freddeh
  17. Paranoid King

Thanks for playing, everyone. I hope, despite the results, that you all had fun... But wait, before we dive into the design file and discuss the events of the game, it wouldn't be A Spider-Man Mafia without a Marvel-Style mid-credits scene!

As a U.S. Army helicopter flies over the quarantined war zone of what used to be Manhattan Island (now referred to as Spider-Island) they are dismayed to find no survivors in this latest pass... Just plenty of sightings of Spider-Monsters making nests and crawling over every inch of the city. Finally, General Thaddeus Ross orders the chopper home. "You've done all you can boys," his voice comes in over the radio, "If there are any more survivors in that wasteland, may God have mercy on their souls."

The army helicopter turns and heads back to their base to plan for what will come next... The hearts of the soldiers aboard hang heavy, knowing that the next course of action the military will take, whatever it may be, would undoubtedly not be to look for survivors...

It's a shame they didn't do one last pass... Because if they had, they would have seen a costumed figure emerge from a time portal in a bolt of lightning!

"Lyla, I made it back... But it's even worse than we thought. I'm not sure I can fix this on my own... I'm going to need some help..."

Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...
Amazing.jpg
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
With great power, must also come great responsibility
"The one and only," is what I would say if there weren't at least a dozen Spider-Clones running around town. But don't worry, you're the real deal. You think. Maybe. I mean, you would know if you were a clone, right? Right?!
You know the story. Peter Parker, boy genius; bitten by a radioactive spider; power & responsibility; married to a supermodel; high-flying, death-defying, adrenaline-pumping, web-slinging action. All the memories are there, but are they yours? That's the big question plaguing everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero this time around. Not "how do we stop an unkillable psychotic alien," or "who is the Hobgoblin;" just a simple, existential question.

"Am I real?"

And yet, answering that question will be the hardest one yet. No threat has come as close to destroying the webbed wonder as much as this question. It has the power to make everything you believe about yourself to be a lie - to make your very existence on this earth nothing more than a sham. But before we can truly delve into the events which brought our hero to ask that question, before we can even mention clones and jackals and existential dread, we have to understand where it all began. We have to go back to...

The Night Gwen Stacy Died

(Way back in issues #121-122, remember? -Stan Lee)

The harrowing events of that day will haunt you for the rest of your life. You watched as the Green Goblin threw your girlfriend off the Brooklyn Bridge, and though you tried to save her, it's quite possible that the very strand of web which stopped her fall also snapped her neck. You'll never know who was more responsible for what happened, be it yourself, or the Goblin. But you were not the only person who's life was profoundly impacted by Gwen's death. Let's shift focus to Empire State University, where a brilliant professor's fragile grip on sanity is about to snap. Professor Miles Warren had become inappropriately obsessed with his star pupil, so when she died he devoted himself to bringing her back - and he succeeded.

But successfully cloning Gwen wasn't enough for Warren, he wanted revenge against the person responsible for her death in the first place: Spider-Man. It was out of this desire for revenge that his alter-ego, the Jackal, was born. Jackal used the Gwen Stacy clone to lure you into a trap where you faced off in a fight to the death against...yourself.

(Also #149. -You Know Who)
This is where the question truly began, for even though you defeated the other Spider-Man, you fear you will never know for sure that he was the clone and not you...

But all this nasty clone business is supposed to be a thing of the past, right? Wrong. Yesterday your not-so-dead-clone resurfaced out of the blue. It seems he survived the explosion at Shea Stadium all those years ago, and had been living in exile ever since. Well, you didn't let him steal your life then and you weren't about to let him steal it now--except, that's not what he was after. Your clone had made his peace with what he was long ago, and had created a new identity to live out somewhere on the West coast. He was calling himself Ben Reilly, using Uncle Ben's first name and Aunt May's maiden name. Reilly claimed he didn't want any trouble, and had only returned to New York to visit your ailing aunt in the hospital (her advanced years and chronic heart problems have finally been catching up with her). But the ol' Parker luck never fails, and where there is twice as many Peter Parkers kicking around, trouble couldn't be far behind.

Trouble named Jackal.

(That guy really gives me the creeps. -Stan)
The mastermind behind the cloning process is back from the dead (or perhaps, a clone of him is), and threatens to throw your life into a whole new realm of chaos that will make your existential crisis of the original clone storyline look like peanuts by comparison. Now there's not just one Spider clone running around...there's several!

No matter how this plays out, one thing is for certain: when this is all said and done nothing will ever be the same. And you will really, really hate clones.
The Amazing Spider-Man is Spider Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

If you are the real Spider-Man, your Win Condition is to: 1) remove all the Threats to the Town; 2) correctly guess that you are the real Spider-Man (see "Clone" section below); and 3) both you and Mary-Jane survive to the end of the game. You win if, when the game ends, no Threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool, you've correctly guessed you are not a clone, and both you and Mary-Jane are not dead.

If you are a clone, your Win Condition is to correctly guess you are not the real Spider-Man (see "Clone" section below), and survive to the end of the game. You win if, when the game ends, you've correctly guessed you are a clone and you are not dead.

Your Motivation is to positively, beyond a reason of a doubt, discern whether you are, in fact, the real Spider-Man or just a clone. If you achieve your motivation, your Alignment, Win Condition, and abilities will change.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Amazing Spider Powers (Activated; Night; 2 Uses): Choose one:
+1 Use: Disable passive abilities of players who were voting you at the end of the previous Day, but also disable your Spider Sense.
-1 Use: Target player is Roleblocked until the end of the Night.
-2 Uses: Choose a character other than Spider-Man. That character cannot be killed.

Spider-Man Costume [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Spider-Man account. You may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Spider Sense (Passive): You can only be targeted by Spider Aligned players.

The Ol' Parker Luck (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which lets you cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. However, true to form, it would also appear to be completely useless for the time being (see Wallflower).

Wallflower (Passive): At the start of each Day you become Voteblocked until the end of that Day.

Voteblocked (Condition)
You may not cast traditional votes. Bonus and/or Secret votes are unaffected.
You may, or may not be, a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone, or the tried and true original. Certain game mechanics will trigger based on if you are correct in your assertion or not. You may update this belief status whenever you like.

THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN
Thwip

Wowza! Most people know of his spectacular spider-powers, but who knew that Peter Parker was also such a stunning kisser?! I'm sure poor Gwen would be willing to die all over again for another kiss like that. What? Too soon? :D
Gwendolyn Stacy. The girl of your dreams. The first woman you ever truly loved (except, maybe, for Aunt May). You would have married her and lived happily ever after if not for that fateful night all those years ago...The Night Gwen Stacy Died.

Killed in the prime of her life by Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin, in an effort to ruin yours. He very nearly succeeded too, but you recovered, and even learned to find love again in the arms of the beautiful Mary-Jane Watson. Unfortunately for you, Professor Miles Warren did not. You see, your old University teacher had become inappropriately obsessed with the talented young Stacy and even fantasized that she might one day leave you and return his affections. When she died he couldn't handle it, ultimately culminating in his developing a split personality; the Jackal was born. The Jackal was every bit as brilliant as Warren but wasn't held back by the constraints of morality or ethics. He put his longtime theories behind genetic cloning into practice and brought Gwen Stacy back to life.

But successfully cloning Gwen wasn't enough for Jackal, he wanted revenge. In his twisted psyche, he believed Spider-Man was responsible for the girl's death (to be fair, you did play a part in it), and wouldn't stop until he'd taken everything away from you, as you had him. For a moment, he succeeded. In the events following the battle at Shea Stadium—in which Jackal had you face off in a fight to the death against a clone of yourself—you actually were, briefly, uncertain if you were the real Peter Parker. For a moment, the Jackal had you believing that you might be a nothing more than a clone; a genetic duplicate; a copy; a fake. The thought very nearly destroyed you, but you persevered and put it out of your mind. For years you never gave it a second thought.

Until your clone came back from the dead.

And suddenly that old wound is fresh as a daisy. His very existence threatens to undo everything you've worked so hard to protect. What does he want? How did he survive and why is he back after all these years? Does he hope to steal your life? Or worse? And what could be worse?! Well, the truth is, a lot, as you're about to discover. Your clone isn't the only one who somehow survived the explosion at Shea Stadium; the Jackal did too, and this time, he has a whole army of Spider-Men clones with which to turn your life into a living nightmare.

And all of this is because of poor Gwen Stacy, who's innocent good name is being dragged through the gutter by writers who just refuse to let her rest in peace. Guess it's time to pull out the webs and kick some ass, Spidey-style. It's gunna be a long night.
The Spectacular Spider-Man is Spider Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

All Webbed Up (Passive): This is your traditional voting power. In addition to allowing you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game, if you happen to cast the deciding vote which pushes a player to their threshold you may choose to end the Day without that player being Lynched (will not work on yourself).

Patented Parker Patter (Passive): Whenever you cause a player to become Distracted (see Wisecrack, under Communal Abilities), the afflicted player has a 60% chance of failure instead of 30%.

Spectacular Spider Powers (Activated; Day; 2 Uses): Choose one:
+1 Use: Choose a color. For the rest of the Day, any votes made using the chosen color don't count.
-1 Use: Target player is Silenced for 48 hours or until the end of the Day (whichever comes first).
-3 Uses: Choose a player. If the player possesses an Item that you do not already have, you may steal it.

THE ALL NEW, ALL DARING
PETER PARKER, THE SPECTACULAR
SPIDER-MAN

Eep. I wouldn't want to be Daredevil in that cover. Spidey, you look like a man possessed! What's driven you over the edge? Oh yeah. Clones. Duh.
You swore you'd never wear this costume again.

Seriously, after the original black suit turned out to be a volatile alien symbiote feeding off your adrenaline, even the non-symbiote black suit gives you the willies. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and the times couldn't be more desperate. Aunt May is dying. The doctors have no idea why. She's suffering from some kind of degenerative genetic disorder which will ultimately claim her life if a cure isn't found. So you're on the hunt for the man responsible. How do you know someone is responsible? Because Aunt May is the toughest person you've ever met and she was fit as a fox (for a gal her age) not even a week ago. This is just another case of an enemy trying to cause you grief by hurting your loved ones, and you'll be damned if you let her go without a fight.

But that doesn't explain why you're back in black threads. Well, I'm getting to that!

Your old "friend" the Jackal is back in town.

You remember the Jackal, don't you? Professor Miles Warren: the brilliant scientist and university mentor, driven mad by the death of his star pupil whom he had more than just a professional interest in—if you get my meaning. That star pupil was none other than your late girlfriend, the incredible Gwen Stacy, who was yet another unfortunate victim of being a loved one of yours (seeing a trend, here?). Well, Warren blamed you for her death and set himself to work trying to bring her back and get his revenge. He figured he could hit two birds with one stone through the miracles of science, and cloning! Yup, you read that right, he successfully cloned Gwen Stacy, and you as well. It's a long story, but suffices to say you beat him at his own game (with a little help from Gwen 2.0) and the Jackal, along with your clone, were both killed in an explosion at Shea Stadium.

Until yesterday when they weren't anymore.

That's right, both the Jackal AND your original clone are back to cause you grief. You're not sure if they survived Shea Stadium, or if they were never there to begin with (with clones you never can be too sure), and frankly, you don't care. All you care about is Aunt May, and if any of your past villains has the requisite knowledge of your secret identity and the scientific background to be able to infect her with a disease at the genetic level, it's the expert in cloning himself. There's no doubt in your mind: Jackal has the answers, and he's going to give them up whether he wants to or not.

But that still doesn't explain why you're wearing the black suit.

Well, you see, here's the thing: when the Jackal resurfaced after all those years he didn't come alone—he brought an army of Spider-Men clones with him. And what do you do when you have a freshly baked batch of totally nude Peter Parker clones? You raid Spidey's closet, that's what. Yup, you read that right. I'm a little embarrassed to even say it, but an army of clones stole all your Spider-Man costumes. I know, right? You can't make this stuff up. Bad enough that they all have hopes to steal your life, they have to steal your clothes too? Figures. That's just your luck.

Anyway, fortunately, you had this old thing locked away in the attic where you'd hoped you'd never have to use it again. On the plus side, the dark threads are proving effective; everyone you've questioned about the whereabouts of the Jackal has been noticeably more intimidated than usual. Even without the enhanced powers of the symbiote, your black suit seems to get the job done faster than your red and blues. Too bad you can't stand wearing it without thinking of Venom. But like I said, desperate times... You console yourself by saying that soon you'll be able to beat the tar out of Jackal and his clone army and get both your costume and your life back to normal. If you didn't hate clones before, you're going to after tonight...
Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man is Spider Aligned.

All New, All Daring Spider Powers (Activated; Night; 7 Uses): Choose one:
-1 Use: Target player becomes Tracked until the end of the Night, and Voteblocked until the end of the following Day.
-2 Uses: Learn the alignment of whichever player you were voting for at the end of the previous Day.
-4 Uses: All targeting abilities used toNight fail.

Back in Black (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. If you cast your vote in black bold, your vote will be doubled in strength.

Shadow Stalker (Passive): Whenever you are Tracking a player, you learn who is being affected by any of their abilities, not just who they've targeted.

Spider Tracer [Item]: You may Track players who cannot ordinarily be Tracked.

Web Yank (Activated; Day): Target player loses 1 use of a random limited use ability they possess (if any). If one of their abilities reaches 0 uses in this way, you regain 1 use of All New, All Daring Spider Powers.
You may or may not be a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone, or the tried and true original. THE SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN
Will the real Spider-Man please stand up?

Who is that strikingly familiar and devilishly good-looking blonde wearing Spider-Man's new suit? Why it's Spider-Man! He might not look like the Peter Parker you're used to, but people change. Rest assured that this Spider-Man is none other than the original man himself. Think I'm bluffing? Think again.
You are the original Peter Parker.

Or at least you were. Then for a time, you weren't. Now you are again. It's complicated. You see, it all has to do with clones. A while back, an insane professor with a god complex tried to ruin your life by convincing you that you were nothing more than a fake, a genetic copy of the original Parker, created to cause him harm. This news came as something of a shock to you, considering you even possess the memories which seemingly prove otherwise. But memories, like the cells which store them, can be duplicated. Convinced that you were just a pawn in the Jackal's games, you decided to not play a willing part in the destruction of the true Peter Parker, and you escaped into exile.

Many years passed. Still believing yourself a clone, you wandered the states as a nomad, a ghost. You changed your hair and your name, trying as best to distance yourself from the memories that you believed weren't rightfully yours. But they were yours, as you were about to find out. The return of the Jackal after all these years brought you back to New York, where you hoped to have revenge on the monster that created you—only, your plans fell through when the Jackal revealed to you proof that you were, in fact, the original Peter Parker all along. For five long years a clone had been living your life.

No more. Today is the day you take back your life. The Jackal and his clones are going to pay for what they've done to you, and if anyone stands in your way they're going to have to deal with the real Spider-Man!
The Sensational Spider-Man is Spider Aligned.

Agility (Passive): If you are the first player to make a post immediately following a post in which someone else votes for you, that vote doesn't count.

Back from the Edge (Activated; Night): Return to the Active Player pool from Exile. You may use this ability even while in Exile (duh).

I Really, Really Hate Clones (Activated; Night): Target player with the Clone subtype is cast into Exile. This effect is permanent.

Sensational Spider Powers (Activated; Day; 2 Uses): Choose one:
+1 Use: The player you are voting for at the time this ability is activated becomes Target Locked until the end of the following Night.
-1 Use: Target player's Threshold is increased or decreased by 2 (your choice) until the end of the Day.
-2 Uses: You become immune to all negative Conditions until the end of the following Night.

Spider-Man Costume [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Spider-Man account. You may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Web Slinger (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game.
You may or may not be a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone or the tried and true original. Wow! I don't believe my eyes--It's Captain Universe! Or, rather, it's good ol' Spidey embodied with the Uni-Power, turning him into Captain Universe. It's complicated. You see, Captain Universe isn't just one person, he's many. The Uni-Power is an aspect of the Enigma Force (I know, more mumbo jumbo) and, essentially, is an all-powerful energy source which travels from one body to the next, imbuing them with the Power Cosmic until it finds a more deserving host. And right now, that host is none other than Peter Parker. Fun, right?!
In the beginning there was nothing.

Then,

the

big

BANG!!

Suddenly, a whole universe of possibilities—all of time and space—stretching everywhere in all directions.

Once upon a time, long ago, or perhaps it was yesterday, you were Peter Parker. A tiny insignificant blip on the face of reality. But now... You are, and have always been, Captain Universe, Guardian of Eternity! Behold, all of everything at your fingertips. You could go anywhere. See and do anything. All this incredible Cosmic power, and with it must come incredible, Cosmic responsibility. An entire alien race on the far side of the galaxy is about to go extinct because their star will go supernova, and YOU have the power to stop it.

So why are you kicking around Manhattan, of all places? You've got bigger fish to fry.

The Jackal, that's why. Figures, with your luck, that you'd become Captain Friggin' Universe, and while you're up-up-and-away doing Cosmic Spidey stuff, your old nemesis picks that moment to come back from the dead with an army of Spider-Man clones to fill the Spidey void. So Jackal's all up in your friendly neighborhood causing trouble with a dozen Spider-Men, all of which are fighting over who gets to be the real Spider-Man, and meanwhile you're not even on Earth! Well, you're not having any of that, not on your turf. Jackal and his clone army are going to have to answer to...COSMIC SPIDER-MAN!
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is Spider Aligned.

A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched (however, see "Unlimited Invulnerability" under abilities).
Cosmic Senses (Activated; Night): You receive all game-related communications, public and private, passed over the previous Day/Night cycle in the form of a massive wall of text that is all randomly jumbled together. Requires the Uni-Power.

God-Like Power (Activated; Day): The next time you vote today, that vote is worth one-thousand times its original value. Requires the Uni-Power.

Hypersonic Speed (Passive): You are immune to all Conditions. Requires the Uni-Power.

Resourceful Hero (Activated; Day or Night): Regain 1 use of any ability with a limited number of uses.

Shape Reality (Activated; Day or Night; 2 Uses): Choose one (requires the Uni-Power):
+2 Uses: Choose an Active or Exiled player other than yourself. If you chose an Active player, they are cast into Exile; if you chose an Exiled player, return them to the Active Player pool.
-5 Uses: Target player loses all abilities until you use Shape Reality again (this effect does not end at the end of a Day or Night).
-X Uses: Create an Item. You decide the item's name and effect, the GameMOD decides how many uses of Shape Reality are expended to create it. You may keep the Item for yourself, or give it to another player (if you decide to keep it, you may not change your mind to give it away later).

Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Choose a player to add to your Friendly Neighborhood chatroom. You may communicate with players in your Friendly Neighborhood at any time.

Spidey's Signature Fighting Style (Passive): This is your traditional voting power. You may only vote for other players with it, votes against yourself will not be counted.

Uni-Power [Item]: The Uni-Power grants you the following abilities: Cosmic Senses, God-Like Strength, Hypersonic Speed, Shape Reality, and Unlimited Invulnerability. You automatically lose The Uni-Power (and all associated abilities) if ever Shape Reality has zero uses remaining or you become Exiled.

Unlimited Invulnerability (Passive): You cannot be Lynched or Killed. If your Threshold is reached, the Day ends without a Lynch. Requires the Uni-Power.
You may, or may not be, a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone, or the tried and true original. Certain game mechanics will trigger based on if you are correct in your assertion or not. You may update this belief status whenever you like.

You were expecting somebody else?

Who's this guy think he is? Bad enough he has to go around ruining your good name, but does he have to do it in that godawful hoodie?
You really, really hate clones.

View attachment 44111
No, REALLY.

Years ago, the Jackal—a C list villain from your rogues gallery—created a clone of Peter Parker, and in doing so discovered you were Spider-Man. Needless to say, this upped his threat level quite a bit. But Jackal's villainy notwithstanding, the real threat to your life was his creation: a perfect genetic duplicate who possessed even your memories, and who was hell-bent on stealing the life he thought was his. The Jackal's plan very nearly succeeded, until an explosion at Shea Stadium (due to his own bomb, no less) claimed both his life and that of your doppelganger—or so you thought.

Yesterday the Jackal resurfaced. It seems your old enemy has been busy in his self-imposed exile, for he had an army of Spider-Man clones with him. You had a hard enough time fighting one clone, how on earth are you going to manage to defeat a dozen?!

The answer: you won't. At least, not without help. Enter Ben Reilly, the original clone you fought at Shea Stadium all those years ago (exploding stadiums just ain't the killer they used to be). It seems he too has been in exile all these years, but now is back to help you fight the Jackal and his new batch of Spider-Men. You probably can't trust him—heck, you know you can't—but right now you don't exactly have a choice. Oh, and one more thing: there's a chance you might have been a clone all along and this other guy was the original. Great, so now in addition to getting your ass kicked by a bunch of wannabe yous, you have to deal with the existential dread of not knowing if you're even you in the first place! Starting to see why you really hate clones? Well, that's just the beginning, and it's not over yet.

So buckle up for the most frustrating saga of your web-slinging career. Those clones ain't gunna beat themselves!

Great Power (Passive): You may use up to three different activated abilities each Day or Night.

Great Responsibility (Activated; Day or Night): All Town Aligned players become Protected until the end of the Day/Night, and your Threshold is permanently reduced by 1.
Protected (Condition)
The first attempt to kill you in a Day or Night will fail. Multiple instances of this condition stack.

Proportionate Strength of a Spider (Activated; Day): Choose a number between 2 and 8. The next time you cast a traditional vote its strength is equal to that number, and your Threshold is permanently reduced by the same amount.

Radioactive Spider Blood (Activated; Day or Night): Use a random Spider Power selected from the complete list of all possible Spider Powers in this game (you will be told what it does), and your Threshold is permanently reduced by 1.

Spider-Man Costume [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Spider-Man account. You may also cast a Bonus vote using this account.

WEB OF SPIDER-MAN
You c-can't be--PETER PARKER?!

But you're not like, literally his web, you know? That's just the title!
Your name is Peter Parker, but the world knows you better as Spider-Man. Some people think you're a hero. Others think you're a menace. Most rarely see past the costume. They forget you're a man - a man who's been on an emotional roller coaster for the past several months.

Ever have an off day?

Well, Peter Parker was having an off year. No one ever said the life of a friendly neighborhood web-slinger was supposed to be easy, but yours had taken a decidedly downward turn.

Recently, you witnessed the death of Harry Osborn which threw you into an emotional spiral. To put it mildly, the two of you had issues. You were both the best of friends and the most bitter of enemies. You can't count how many times your "friend" tried to kill you. Harry's father had been the original Green Goblin and he held you responsible for Norman's death. While still grieving over Harry's passing, you'd suddenly learned that the villain Carnage had escaped the mental institution where he had been incarcerated and had gathered a group of like-minded psychopaths to embark on a killing spree called Maximum Carnage.

In the midst of this chaos, Norman Osborn somehow came back from the dead and, blaming you for the death of his son (Irony!), put his mass wealth and resources into ruining your life in every imaginable way. If one Goblin coming back from the dead wasn't bad enough, the original Hobgoblin had also resurfaced and started a similar anti-spider campaign of terror you'd come to remember as Hobgoblin Lives.

The worst was still to come.

Next, your parents seemingly returned from the dead (seriously, resurrections are all the rage these days). Richard and Mary Parker reentered their son's life shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, claiming to have been recently released political prisoners from behind the old Iron Curtain. You and your wife Mary Jane couldn't believe your luck. Eventually, you accepted Richard and Mary into your lives as members of the family, only to at last learn the truth. Your so-called parents were really lifelike robots that had been programmed by the Chameleon. However, the real culprit proved to be Harry Osborn, who had allegedly masterminded the entire plot from beyond the grave. You almost had a nervous breakdown after that—thought you'd finally hit rock bottom—but nothing compares to the heartache of what came next.

Aunt May is dying.

You know she's not a young woman and that this day was inevitable. None of that really matters. as much as you try to prepare yourself, you're never ready to lose someone you love. Aunt May has been like a mother to you. Without her, you wouldn't be the man you are today. Of all the struggles you've faced, you've never felt so helpless as you do right now.

MJ says you're way too stressed, that your anxiety is not going to help Aunt May recover. She's right, of course. What you need is to chill, relax, maybe stretch the old muscles and clear your he--

WOAH!

Spider-Sense tingling like never before. Something's very wrong. There's danger, around every corner! Something is coming, it's--

--gone. What was that?

Maybe MJ was on to something. You're so high strung even your Spider Sense is playing tricks on you. Either that, or all this is just the beginning of something worse, and you're experiencing the calm before the storm...

Aw, who are you kidding. With your luck? Better break out the webs.

Peter Parker
"My favorite superhero isn't Spider-Man, it's Peter Parker."
-Some nerd named Zinger

What does Spider-Man get up to when he's not spinning webs all around town? I'm glad you asked because this issue here is the answer! A brand-new full-length comic about the life of Peter Parker—and we promise, not a single panel of superhero stuff from start to finish. Drama will be the action that carries this story forward. So flip open the cover, true believer, and prepare yourself for a tale about the secret life Spider-Man leads when his adoring fans aren't watching...
Okay, but seriously, costume or no, Pete can't go five minutes without some kind of Spider-Man action, can he? Right you are.

So here's the sitch: after a series of absolutely life-shattering events in a relatively short span of time (Maximum Carnage, Hobgoblin Lives, etc), Mary-Jane finally convinced you to give up the webs for a little while. With your beloved Aunt May in the hospital, near death, you couldn't really argue. Great power or no, you have a responsibility to be near your only living relative in her time of struggle. She needs your support. So you've hung up the webs for a little while...and, as if on cue, **** hits the fan.

The Jackal has re-emerged, proving that being dead for more than five years is nothing but a speed-bump for the master of genetic cloning himself. The last time he meddled in your affairs he tried to ruin your life by replacing you with a genetic copy he'd created. This time, Jackal doesn't just have one Spider-Man clone, but several. It looks like you were right, poor Pete doesn't have time for the regular day-to-day drama of normal life, he's too busy being The Amazing Spider-Man!

Of course, being Spider-Man is about more than just putting on a costume, and thank goodness that's true because you don't have a costume to put on! It seems the Jackal's latest batch of Spider-Men have raided your closet, taking every last costume with them. Figures that the only true Spider-Man in a mob of Spider-Men is the one who's dressed as plain ol' Peter Parker. That's the typical Parker Luck at work. Speaking of work, time to hop to it! The bad guys won't catch themselves.
Peter Parker is Spider Aligned.

Your Threshold is X + 3, where X is equal to the number of items you possess. So if you have 2 items, it would take 5 votes to see you Lynched.
Science Wiz (Activated; Day): Construct an Item you don't already possess from the following list.
Belt Mounted Spider Signal [Item]: This Item grants you a traditional vote, which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game. If you have another ability which grants you a traditional vote, this vote is in addition to that one.

Dampening Field Generator, Mark I [Item]: You cannot be Lynched on the first Day. If your Threshold is reached on Day 1 nothing happens.

Dampening Field Generator, Mark II [Item]: Votes can only accumulate on you in pairs (ie. the first vote placed on you won't count until a second is placed, then the third won't count until a fourth is placed, and so on).

Dampening Field Generator, Mark III [Item]: You cannot be Lynched on the third Day. If your Threshold is reached on Day 3 the Day ends without a lynch. Requires Precision Tools to construct this Item.

Dampening Field Generator, Mark IV [Item]: Whenever you use Escape Handcuffs (see Communal Abilities) it removes four votes instead of just two. Requires Precision Tools to construct this Item.

Micro Radiowave Transceiver [Item]: Whenever you are Tracking a player if that player has been in communication with others this Night you will pick up one of their messages at random. Requires Precision Tools to construct this Item.

Precision Tools [Item]: Expand the list of Items available to construct with Science Wiz to include Dampening Field Generators Marks III & IV, Micro Radiowave Transceiver, and Web-Shooters.

Spider Tracer [Item]: You may Track players who cannot ordinarily be Tracked.

Web-Shooters [Item]: The player(s) you are voting for with a traditional vote become Roleblocked until you are no longer voting them. Requires Precision Tools to construct this Item.

Empire State University Ring [Item; 1 Use]: This item grants you a single one-use Bonus vote that you may cast against a player. Once you do, this item is discarded.

Shutterbug (Passive): Whenever you are Tracking a player (see "Big LeBowski", under Communal Abilities), a picture of that player's character, as well as the characters of anyone they Targeted, may appear in the next edition of the Daily Bugle if the Editor accepts them.
You may or may not be a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone or the tried and true original. Certain game mechanics will trigger based on if you are correct in your assertion or not. You may update this belief status whenever you like.

SPIDER-HAM

Oink

You're kidding, right? You're not kidding.
Remember that time Loki turned Spider-Man into a pig in that one episode of Ultimate Spider-Man?

Yeah, that one.

Well, that's exactly what's happened here. You see, when your old enemy the Jackal came back from the dead with an army of Spider-Men clones to try and take over the world, Thor's impetuous brother just happened to be watching. He thought it would be hilarious if you had to go up against all these other Spider-Men as a Spider-Pig. I'll admit, it is rather comical that the only real Spider-Man amidst a handful of fakes isn't even a Man at all, but you're not laughing. Unfortunately, you don't have time to try and undo Loki's curse right now; the Jackal's plans are advancing to fruition and someone's got to stop him—even if that someone is a Pig with spectacular spider-powers.
Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham is Spider Aligned.

Your Threshold is Majority -1. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 5 votes to see you Lynched.
Ham it up (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. You can only vote using the colour Pink (any shade of pink will suffice) -- votes made using any other colour will not be counted.

License to Pun [Item]: Holding this item grants you limited control over the current deadline. Every time you make a humorous pun in the game thread (accompanied by a smiley face so the GameMOD takes notice—any one of these will do: :D:shrugs::crylaugh::suspicious::whistle:;):P) the current deadline is extended by one hour, up to a maximum of 24 hours.

Pork Roast (Activated, Day): Players currently voting for you become Emboldened Strengthened until the end of the Day.
Strengthened (Condition)
Votes you make are doubled in value and kills you make pierce one layer of protection.

Swine Flu (Activated, Night, 2 Uses): Choose a player. All abilities which would Target you are redirected to the chosen player instead.
You may or may not be a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone or the tried and true original. Certain game mechanics will trigger based on if you are correct in your assertion or not. You may update this belief status whenever you like.

Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...

Doctor Seward Trainer
You know, things like this never happened to me before I met you, Ben!

Who's that, you ask? You mean you've never heard of the famed geneticist, Doctor Seward Trainer? Okay, maybe he wasn't that famous. Or famous at all. All right you got me, he plays a bit part in the greater Spider-Man lore! But while the part is small in the grand scheme of things, his role in the events of the Clone Saga is pretty dang important. After all, Doctor Trainer was instrumental in seemingly confirming the Jackal's assessment that Peter Parker, and not Ben Reilly, was the clone all along! Of course, it was all part of Norman Osborn's grand scheme to ruin Peter's life and make him doubt his own identity, but now I'm getting way ahead of myself. All of that in time.

By the way, that's you on the cover there, with the beard, right below Spider-Man's knee. I would have found a comic cover that featured your character more prominently, but, well, how to put it delicately... There isn't one. In your 40+ comic appearances throughout the entire lengthy Clone Saga, you never once appeared on a cover in any of them except the one pictured above (and I spent a solid 4 hours digging through my back issues and trade paperbacks to be absolutely sure). Sorry. :shrugs: But as I said, you play an important role, regardless of how many covers you're on. Let's talk about that, shall we?
Your story is a little complicated. For starters, you're an expert geneticist from Burlington, Vermont—a veritable genius in the field, unrivaled by your peers (well, at least, your non-superhuman peers). That's probably how you came to the attention of such big-name characters as the High Evolutionary. The High Evolution is an incredibly powerful character with a super long backstory that stretches to the golden age of comics (he was created by none other than Stan Lee and Jack Kirby themselves), but his involvement in this story is minimal so I'll spare you the details. Suffice to say, for a time you worked for him, and it was while under his employ that the High Evolutionary tasked you with spying on the cloning experiments conducted by one Professor Miles Warren—a.k.a. the Jackal. Using your reputation as a geneticist, you are able to convince Warren to hire you as an assistant, but eventually, your treachery was discovered by another of Warren's associates, an enigmatic cultist known only as Scrier. Scrier blackmailed you, forcing you to work for his mysterious benefactor in exchange for not telling Warren about your secrets.

So for a while, you worked with Miles Warren on his cloning experiments while secretly reporting back to both the High Evolutionary and Scrier's mysterious boss. A double-double agent? A triple-agent? Whatever you would call it, felt like you were between a rock and a hard place, so you bailed on all of it, but not before you switched the test results to make it look like the man Warren had cloned was the clone, and the clone was the man, a task you were instructed to do by Scrier. You thought this would make you square with Scrier's boss, but little did you know that Scrier's mysterious benefact was none other than Norman Osborn—and when you're indebted to Norman Osborn, you're never free of it.

Peter Parker's clone, a man you helped Warren create, was living in exile on the west coast of America, calling himself Ben Reilly. It was at this point that Norman made contact again, this time through another of his agents, a monstrous cyborg named Gaunt (first Scrier, now Gaunt, just how many superhuman lackeys does Norman have on his payroll?). He explained how you could make yourself useful again by spying on Parker's clone. You wanted to tell him your spying days were over, but you knew a man like Osborn could ruin you if you made an enemy of him, especially if you consider his knowledge of your involvement in Warren's less-than-legal human cloning experiments. Plus, you were just a little bit curious as to what became of the man you helped Warren create, so you agreed to Norman's terms. That's how you and Ben Reilly ended up becoming friends.

View attachment 43841
Rock and a hard place indeed.

Years passed, and your relationship with the man deepened. Now you see him almost like the son you never had. I mean, you did have a daughter, but Carolyn and you are estranged and haven't spoken to each other in years. But Ben here, he looks up to you like the father he never had, reciprocating your admiration, and that feels pretty good. You've grown to really value his friendship, but you discovered a terrible secret: Warren's cloning process was imperfect—his clones, all of them, would eventually suffer a fatal degenerative disorder where their cellular structure would break down. How long did Reilly have? Was it years? Months? Days? There was no way to tell, but eventually, degeneration would come. Suddenly your newfound friendship was in jeopardy from a whole new source, and this one couldn't be punched like all the Jackals and Goblins of the world. There had to be a way you could save him... There just had to be...

Recently, Reilly has returned to New York. He says he's not looking to reconnect with his genetic twin, and just wants to say goodbye to his dying aunt, but you've got a bad feeling about this. You know Osborn has an agenda that extends beyond just keeping tabs on Reilly, and being in New York likely moves him one step closer to enabling that secret agenda. And what of Warren? He died five years ago, reportedly, but with cloning, you never can be sure he's not still out there. New York is a dangerous place for Ben to be, too many enemies hiding in the shadows just waiting for an opportunity to strike.

View attachment 43842
Stay where you are! I'm coming to New York!

Somehow, you're going to have to find a way to look out for Ben's best interests, while also protecting your own; you just have to find a way to do it without your guilty secrets coming to light. You perish the thought of him ever learning your true involvement in his life—of your connections to both Warren and Osborn. If he ever did, that would undoubtedly end your friendship for good, and whatever hope you have of curing his eventual degeneration would die along with it. You can't let that happen. You won't. So at least for now, you're stuck playing Osborn's game.
Doctor Seward Trainer is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to develop a cure for the clone degeneration process. You promised Ben you would save him, and dammit you're going to find a way! Somehow... Achieving your motivation will have vast repercussions for just about everyone in the game (though, like any motivation, it still isn't required for you to win).
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Blood Sample B [Item]: This is a sample of Ben Reilly's blood.

Clone Business (Passive): You may talk with your ally, Ben Reilly, anytime inside your Lab.

Clonenapping (Activated; Night; 2 Uses): Exile Target player with the clone subtype. While Exiled in this way, the player gains access to your Lab until released. You may release them at any time; when you do, they return to the Active player pool, and you regain 1 use of this ability. Caution: Targeting a player without the clone subtype has no effect, but still expends 1 use of this ability.

Collect Blood Sample (Activated; Day or Night): Collect a blood sample from Target player. This ability can Target players who have been Exiled with your Clonenapping ability as if they weren't Exiled.

Compare Genetic Profiles (Activated; Day or Night): Compare genetic scans of any two players that have previously visited your lab. If either one is a clone, you'll receive a printout confirming it and their state of degeneration.

Determined (Activated; Day or Night): Return to the Active Player pool from Exile.

Develop the Cure (Activated; Day or Night): Create a cure for the clone degeneration process. Requires three blood samples to work, one from a genetic donor and one each from two clones of that donor in different states of degeneration (one advanced, one benign).

Genetic Scanner [Item]: Your lab is equipped with a sophisticated scanner that can create a complete map of the genetic code of anyone inside within minutes. This item cannot be stolen.

Goblin Games (Passive): You may communicate with Norman Osborn anytime inside his secret lab. You are prohibited from telling anyone anything you know about Osborn which might reveal your connection to him. This is a Posting Restriction.
Posting Restriction (Secret Condition)
If you post anything anywhere that violates a Posting Restriction, you lose the game. This condition cannot be removed.

Night-Owl (Passive): You may use up to three different activated abilities during each Night.

Pull Strings (Activated; Day): When you activate this ability, choose a player to cast a Bonus Secret vote against them. You may not change or unvote this vote once it has been applied.

Secret Lab (Passive): Except for Clonenapping and Strength in Numbers, the rest of your abilities continue to function while you are in Exile as if you were still in the Active player pool.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.

Octopus.jpg
DOCTOR OCTOPUS
I am Otto Octavius... known as Doctor Octopus to the great unwashed and uneducated! Do not be lulled into a false sense of security by the extra poundage I carry! Spider-Man, Daredevil, and even Captain America himself have sufficient reason to respect my battle process!

Wait just a tick, Doc Ock is in this game?! I thought it was going to be all "The Jackal" this and "Clones" that? What's one of Spidey's most classic silver-age-of-comics foes doing in this game based on the notorious 90s shlock that was the Clone Saga? Well, true believers, read on and find out!
Everyone knows the story of Doctor Octopus. A brilliant scientist who's hubris outweighed his caution turned monster when an accident fused four metal tentacle-like "arms" to his body. He's Marvel's proverbial Icarus, flying too close to the sun on a pair of wings made from wax. The classic villain was first introduced way-way back in Amazing Spider-Man #3, before even the Green Goblin made his debut, and has been often toted by Goblin-naysayers as the true archenemy of Spider-Man. Of course, we here of A Spider-Man Mafia fame know better, but there's no denying Doc Ock's importance to Spidey lore, after all, while Norman Osborn's exploits against our webbed hero are legendary (killed Spidey's first love, the beautiful Gwen Stacy, and corrupted his best friend Harry into becoming his successor as the next Green Goblin), Doc Ock was the first villain to beat Spider-Man in a fight, unmask him in front of his peers, married Peter's beloved Aunt May, and even successfully killed Spidey for reals and take over his body, becoming a Superior Spider-Man in his own right! (That last part hasn't happened yet at this point in the timeline, but you get the picture)

So, what is the nefarious Doc Ock up to in the Clone Saga? What dastardly plan does he have to foil the wall-crawler this time?

Well... Nothing short of saving his life.

You see, while Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus have always been enemies, the two have also always respected one another, and in the case of the latter, Otto has come to relly on Spider-Man's presence in his life to balance the scales. He even looks forward to their battles, a neverending dance that gives his life meaning. I'm not kidding! Look:

View attachment 43880
Jeez, get a room you two...

Right smack dab in the middle of the events of the Clone Saga—between dealing with all the clones and Jackals and whatever else kind of garbage the writers threw his way—we see a beautifully scripted four-part tale called Web of Death in which Spidey tangoes with his old foe for what promises to be the last time (well, for a few years anyway...comic books always bring people back). In this story, Doc Ock begins his latest attempt to thwart his wall-crawling nemesis as he has many times before, but this time someone got to him first. He defeats an already weakened Spider-Man, only to learn that hero is dying, poisoned by a deadly toxin the Vulture stuck him with. Unwilling to let this be the end of their ongoing dance, Otto goes out of his way to save Spider-Man's life. The classic villain becomes a hero and not a moment too soon for shortly thereafter his story ends...

In our game, inspired by the Clone Saga, I would be remiss not to include inspiration and characters from one of the better stories among it, a diamond in the rough, the final tale of the great Doctor Octopus. Only, like in that story, you will play a role that the readers won't see coming! As the forces of evil line up to end Spider-Man's life, his oldest foe will stand up to defend him as an ally and a friend! What do you say, Otto Octavius? Are you ready for one last dance?

Doctor Octopus is Town Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to avoid being killed. In the comics, Doc Ock is killed shortly after saving Spidey's life. You'd like to change that fate here. If you fail to achieve your motivation, your alignment and win condition will change.
Your Threshold is 8. It takes 8 votes to see you Lynched.
Armed and Dangerous (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game, except that you have four metal arms, each of which is capable of casting a separate vote. Arms devoted to voting counts as being unavailable for other purposes.

Cybernetic Tentacles [Item]: You wouldn't be Doc Ock without these babies. Having a set of four metal arms makes you a king of multitasking. When available, the arms can independently do a variety of things (see your other abilities), or you can idle them to focus on defense. As long as you have at least one arm available, you are Protected. If all four are available, you are Protected twice. This item can't be stolen.
Protected (Condition)
The first attempt to kill you in a Day or Night will fail. Multiple instances of this condition stack.

Genius-Level Intellect (Activated; Day; 1 Use): Divert all your technological resources and genius mind toward the task of uncovering another player's deepest secrets. When you activate this ability, choose a player to peek at their Role PM. If that player has a non-costume item, you may build a copy of that item for your own use.

Legacy of Terror (Passive): If you die, your Cybernetic Tentacles are passed on to your apprentice, Carolyn Trainer, who uses them to become Lady Octopus.

Octobots [Item]: A group of small, four-armed mobile robots that constantly run around doing your bidding. Once during each complete Day/Night cycle you may use one of the communal abilities without it counting as your activated ability for that phase.

Restraining Grip (Activated; Day or Night): Target player becomes Roleblocked and Voteblocked until the end of the Day or Night. Two arms are unavailable while this ability is in use.

Stunner (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Your current girlfriend, Angelina Brancale, turned super-powered sidekick thanks to your virtual reality technology, is more than ready to smack down anyone who thinks they can mess with you. When you use this ability, choose a player. Stunner will kill that player for you.

Mary Jane Watson-Parker
Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot!

Hot damn! MJ, the years have been kind to you. It's no wonder you turned to modelling with a bod like that. And let's not forget that the MJ depicted in the Renew Your Vows comic above has been pregnant. Pregnant! But narry a stretch mark on her. What's your secret, girl? Huh? "The artists are all horny men, like you"? I don't get it.
When you're married to a superhero, life is complicated sometimes.

Years ago, before you and Peter were a thing, one of his many villains tried to ruin his life by cloning him and making him question whether or not he was the real Peter Parker. That clone was thought to be dead for five long years, until yesterday when he showed up out of the blue to pay his respects to Peter's dying Aunt. If that wasn't bad enough, the man who cloned Peter—the Jackal—was also back from the dead, and this time with a whole slew of Spider-Man clones to wreak havoc on your already tumultuous lives. What is a wife supposed to do when she comes home to three different versions of her husband all arguing over which is supposedly the real one? And how is a wife supposed to react when one of them presents proof that the one you've been married to all these years turns out to have been a clone after all?

View attachment 43839
Probably something like that.

What does all this mean for your marriage? Or...your baby?

That's right, you're pregnant. Possibly with the baby of a clone, who knows? Oh god, what if your baby comes out all deformed because clones weren't made to procreate or something like that?! You can't think about that right now—too much stress is bad for the baby. But it's terrifying!! And the person you rely on most for strength in these times of trouble isn't even around to help. Unless he is. You're not sure, to be honest. Some of these clones are so convincing, even you can't tell them apart. And meanwhile, Aunt May is dying and the Doctors don't know why. You've never felt so confused...so lost.

So yeah, life as a superhero's wife can get complicated. Fortunately, this is not your first rodeo, and you wouldn't be the sensational Mary Jane Watson-Parker if you hadn't learned how to roll with the punches by now. You'll get through this, you always do.
Mary Jane Watson-Parker is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to find a cure for the clone degeneration process. You don't know if your unborn baby is the baby of a clone or not, but you'd rather not take any chances! If you achieve your motivation, your Threshold increases to Majority.
Your Threshold is Majority -2. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 4 votes to see you Lynched.
Go Get 'em, Tiger (Activated; Day): Choose a player. If the chosen player is Spider Aligned, they become Strengthened until the end of the Day.

Insomniac (Passive): You may continue to post in the game thread during the Night.

Jackpot (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game. Also, any player who you are currently voting for cannot place a vote on you (votes already against you are unaffected).

Morning Sickness (Passive): At the start of each Day you become Voteblocked until 48 hours has passed.
Voteblocked (Condition)
You may not cast traditional votes. Bonus and/or Secret votes are unaffected.

Red Lipstick [Item]: Whenever you vote in red, if the player you are voting for is Spider Aligned their name will appear red during the votecount (note: votecounts only happen at fixed intervals).

Renew Your Vows (Activated; Night): Choose a player. If the chosen player is Spider Aligned, they are offered a choice to Roleblock themselves until the end of the following Night in exchange for you becoming Protected until the end of the following Night.

Curt Connors
AKA the Lizard

Doctor Curt Connors is a genius geneticist and good friend of Spider-Man's. He's also, sometimes, a giant green Lizard hellbent on making everyone else look like him. Hopefully, we won't actually have to see his ugly side this time around because Spidey could really use Dr. Connors' help with figuring out this whole clone problem.
Many years ago Spider-Man saved your life after you arrogantly turned yourself into a giant green monster known as The Lizard. Since then, you've become surprisingly good friends with the man, despite the fact that you've never seen his face. You've helped him from time to time and, in turn, he's helped you when your greener half decides to resurface. It's been a very supportive friendship.

Fortunately for you (not so fortunate for Spidey), this is one of those times where he needs you to help him. It seems one of his enemies had somehow discovered how to create a perfect clone and had done so using Spider-Man's DNA. Now Spider-Man himself isn't even sure if he's the real one or a clone. Since you're the only person he can trust right now, he's come to you for help, and although cloning isn't exactly your area of expertise, you've promised to do what you can.
Curt Connors is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to avoid changing into The Lizard. If you fail to achieve your motivation, your Character will change.
Your Threshold is 8. It takes 8 votes to see you Lynched.
Blood Sample Z [Item]: This is a sample of your own blood which you can use to compare genetic markers.

Collect Blood Sample (Activated; Day or Night): Collect a blood sample from Target player.

Compare Samples (Activated; Night): Compare one blood sample against another blood sample. If at least one of them is a clone you will get an affirmative result. Otherwise, you will get a negative result.

Green with Envy (Passive): If you would be Lynched, you transform into The Lizard instead.

Insomniac (Passive): You may continue to post in the game thread during the Night.

Science for the Win (Passive): Once per Day, at your request, you can have a document produced which lists players you've confirmed are clones, versus which ones you've confirmed are not. You may forward a copy of this document to one player on the list.

Spider-Friend (Passive): You may chat privately with Spider-Man (at least, you think it's Spidey) anytime in his Friendly Neighborhood chatroom.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.

Tripple Check Results (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Choose a blood sample you have in your possession. That blood sample is discarded, and in exchange, you gain proof which confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt whether or not that blood sample was taken from a clone.

Gwen.jpg
Gwen Stacy
Peter, will you be my Valentine?

Well, not exactly (technically, you're a clone), but close enough. A genetic duplicate of the real deal (complete with all her memories), when the original has been dead for almost six years is about as close as you're going to get in this game. But who cares? You're Gwen Stacy! You're not the type of girl who will let her past, be it real or imagined, define her!

Unless of course, that "past" is a degenerative disorder that afflicts all clones eventually unless you do exactly what the Jackal says in order to get an antidote... Whoops.
View attachment 43819
Gwendolyn Stacy, you're dead.

I hate to break it to you, but you died almost six years ago, when the Green Goblin threw you off the Brooklyn Bridge. But dying is just a speedbump in the road of life when you're the clone of Gwen Stacy. It's a long story.

What's that, you say? We have the time? Okay.

It all started when your old university professor, Miles Warren, fell hopelessly in love with you. Ew, right? Majorly inappropriate. I mean the guy was old enough to be your father. But alas, you can't help who you fall in love with; especially when you have a tenuous hold on sanity to begin with. When you died that fateful day at the hands of the Goblin, professor Warren took a turn for the worse. He blamed Spider-Man for your death (admittedly, he might not have been wrong to do so), and his hatred consumed him until he developed a split personality - the Jackal! The Jackal was obsessed with two things: ruining Spider-Man, and bringing Gwen back to life. He achieved both through the miracles of cloning.

View attachment 43817
Your "Birth"

But there was one tiny hiccup in his otherwise perfect plan that the Jackal didn't see coming... You got to Warren. You pulled him out of his mania and convinced him of his wrongdoings in time to stop the violence before it could cause any more harm. The Jackal and the Spider-Man clone were seemingly killed that day, but you survived. Wanting nothing more to do with Jackals and Spider-Men and clones alike, you moved to London to hopefully separate yourself from it all.

But you should have known better. A clone can't escape what she is, and before long the nightmare of your existence would come back to haunt you...in the form of the Jackal! Alive and well, or perhaps another clone? It didn't much matter which because he knew exactly how to get to you. How to pull your strings. How to make you play his games. How to use you as a weapon against Peter Parker.

And so you find yourself back on a plane bound for New York for the first time in years. The stage is set, the pieces are ready. Time to play your part.
Gwen Stacy is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to cure yourself of your Clone Degeneration. If you achieve your motivation, the Jackal will no longer be able to control your actions (see "Jackal's Favorite Pawn" below).
Your Threshold is 6, which means it takes 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Blonde Bombshell (Activated; Night): Target player is Roleblocked until the end of the Night, and if they were Protected, they no longer are.

Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each even-numbered Day a six-sided die is rolled in secret. On a 6 you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

Ghost of Christmas Past (Activated; Day): Up to three random Spider Aligned players become Distracted until the end of the following Night.

Guilt Magnet (Passive): If you are Lynched, any Spider Aligned players who were voting you have their Thresholds permanently reduced by 3.

Jackal's Favorite Pawn (Passive): The Jackal controls all of your actions, which includes how your activated abilities are used, as well as who you vote for. Attempts to deviate from his instructions will get you severely punished! You may chat with him at any time here.

Regeneration Pod [Item]: The first time you would die, you don't, and this Item is discarded.

Stacy Luck (Activated; Day or Night): While this ability is active if a player who is NOT a Threat to the Town would die, they survive and you die instead.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.
You are a clone of the original Gwen Stacy and, as such, possess the Clone subtype. Unlike most other clones in this game, you are fully aware of your clone status (the real Gwen died years ago).

Daredevil.jpg
DAREDEVIL
The Man without Fear!

It's a Marvel Team-up! Spidey and Daredevil, at it again! The classic duo! You know, ol' hornhead was one of the first superheros the ol' webhead ever teamed up with. Well, after the Fantastic Four and the Avengers... Which I guess are whole teams so maybe saying he's one of the first is disingenuous. Still! Their first meeting was way back in Amazing Spider-Man #16! So they have history. Or, they did... Right now, it's not so clear. I mean, the Daredevil pictured here claims to not be the same Daredevil from back in the day, and with all the Spidey clones running around who's to say if this is even the same Spider-Man from back in the day. Heck, when you think about it, these two might not have any history at all! Bummer.
Your name is Matthew Murdock, a blind lawyer from Hell's Kitchen who moonlights as a crime-fighting devil with a billy club. Or at least, it was. These days, you're not so sure what your name is. You see, Matt Murdock is supposed to be dead. You killed him.

I can see you're making a face. Let me explain. At this point in Daredevil's history, he for some reason decided it was in everyone's best interest if good ol' Matt bit the dust. Matt's life was getting in the way of Daredevil's life, and vice versa, and he just felt he had to choose one or the other. Take that idea to the extreme and you have the current iteration of the character, a man pretending to be a copy-cat of the original Daredevil who reportedly died, all the while being the original Daredevil in a new costume. Comics, am I right?

So here you are dealing with an identity crisis of your own when, all of a sudden, you are approached by your good friend a superhero you've never met before in your life named Spider-Man who is dealing with an identity crisis that makes yours look like a joke. You think you had problems? Spider-Man has a literal army of Spider-Men clones running around the city, all of whom seem to think they are the original. And this one standing in front of you asking you for help won't stop calling you Matt. Matt's dead! Or at least, that's what you want everyone to think. Oh, right, I guess I should have mentioned you and Peter Parker know each other's secret identities? Or rather, you know his but you are pretending like he doesn't know yours because "you're not the same Daredevil", right. Damn, if only there were two of you maybe your life wouldn't be so complicated. How do you go about getting one of these clones? Wait, scratch that, probably a terrible idea....Unless...No! Terrible idea.

View attachment 43903
Get a room, you two!

Anyway, that's what's happened. So now you have to help an old friend fight off an army of copies of your old friend all while pretending to not be old friends to maintain your cover story of being dead. Sheesh. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. When they say "man without fear", I hope they were talking about spiders, cuz you're about to run into a lot of them...
Daredevil is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to confess to the real Spider-Man that you are, in fact, Matt Murdock. This can be achieved by showing your Role PM to the real Spider-Man (see "Trust is a Two Way Street" in Abilities, below). If you achieve your motivation, you will get access to a private discord chat with each other.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Billy Club [Item]: You are immune to the Roleblocked condition.

Friend in Need (Activated; Day): Choose another player and remove up to four votes against them. This ability can't be used in the last 3 hours before a deadline.

Insomniac (Passive): You can continue to post in the game thread during the Night.

Justice is Blind (Activated; Night): Target player is Roleblocked and Weakened until the end of the Night. If your Roleblock prevented a kill action in this way, you will be told.

Man Without Fear (Passive): This is your traditional voting power that allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game. If the player you are voting for has a higher Threshold than you, your vote is worth three times as much.

Radar Sense (Passive): When you are tracking a player, you learn if that player is a Threat to the Town (you can track players with "Big Lebowski" under Communal Abilities). Also, if you become Tracked, you will be told who is tracking you.

Trust is a Two Way Street (Passive): Whenever you are tracking or being tracked by a player, you may choose to reveal your Role PM to them (not an action).

The Daily Bugle
New York's Finest Daily Newspaper

More than just a building—an institution of truth, justice, and the American way! No wall-crawlers allowed.
The Daily friggin' Bugle.

That's right. You are no mere "Editor in Chief of the..." or "Publisher of the..." or "Reporter of the..." or what-have-you. You're the damn paper itself! That makes you pretty hard to kill. Unfortunately, it also makes you pretty ineffective at killing. But a front-page story? Ah, now there is where you'll truly shine!

The Bugle has been around for years, and always has it upheld the greatest standards of reporting. In all that time you've almost never had to print a retraction, and there is no doubt that through your diligent daily reports people's lives have been changed. Namely, the life of one annoying pest of a wallcrawling menace. Speaking of the spider, he's been popping up a lot lately. Like a lot a lot. Like almost more than is humanly possible. I smell a story there...

And what's with this new Scarlet Spider? Is he related to Spider-Man? Cuz he stinks just as much! At least that's the opinion of your esteemed Publisher, mister J. Jonah Jameson. Speaking of JJJ, someone get him pictures of Spider-Man before he blows a gasket. Seriously.
The Daily Bugle is Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

Your Motivation is to get to the bottom of all this messy clone business and spoil the news all over the front page. Figure out who's who, what's what, and where the whens are going which why, and tell the world. As long as you've gotten the details mostly correct, you'll win the big prize. If you achieve your motivation, the identity of the Jackal will be revealed!
Your Threshold is 5. It takes 5 votes to see you Lynched (however, see your abilities below).
Cheap Cigars [Item]: These smell really bad, but ol' JJJ can't stop smokin' 'em. As long as you retain both the activated ability "J. Jonah Jameson" and these Cigars, players who are Roleblocked and/or Distracted may still Target you as though they weren't afflicted by those conditions.

Angela Yin (Activated; Night): You learn if Target player is a Threat to the Town.

Ben Urich (Activated; Night): Target player becomes Tracked by you until the end of the Night. Additionally, you learn not just who they've Targeted (if anyone), but also what activated ability or abilities they've used (detailed in full).

Betty Brant-Leeds (Activated; Day or Night): If used during the Day, you learn Target player's current Motivation; if used during the Night, you instead learn Target player's current Win Condition.

Daily Bugle Official (Passive): Interact with your adoring fanbase online using the Daily Bugle social media account! As long as you still have three or more activated abilities, you may cast a Bonus vote using this account.

Insomniac (Passive): You may continue to post in the game thread during the Night.

J. Jonah Jameson (Activated; Day): One Target player gets a +1 to their Threshold until the end of the Day, and another Target gets a -1 to their Threshold until the end of the Day. If a player's Threshold is increased or decreased in this way for two Days in a row, the change becomes permanent.

Joseph "Robbie" Robertson (Activated; Day): Upon activation of this ability you gain the ability to vote as normal for a Mafia game until the end of the Day.

Letters to the Editor (Passive): Each Night, you receive any letters written to the editor from players during the previous Day. It's up to you what you wish to do with these letters.

Peter Parker (Activated; Day or Night): Obtain a picture of Target Player's character. You may include that picture in the next edition of the Daily Bugle if you wish. After using this ability you show up as Spider Aligned in investigations until the end of the Day/Night.

Printing Press [Item]: This Item may not be stolen or disabled in any way. You print the news. At the start of each Day (within the first 24 hours) you determine what goes into the next issue of the Daily Bugle (Submitted to GameMOD by PM). Each issue may contain some or all of the following five sections (how you interpret what goes in a section is completely up to you—you impressed me last game, so this time, you have even more reign over the paper's content):
1) A Front Page Story
2) Letters to the Editor
3) Editor's Note OR Secondary Story
4) Miscellaneous
5) A Comic Strip

The Show Must Go On (Passive): If you would be Lynched, Exiled, or Killed, you will instead permanently lose a randomly selected activated ability. When you have no activated abilities remaining, you die. This ability becomes disabled if ever you are the last remaining Town Aligned player left in the Active Player pool.

Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.

You are...
Norman.jpg
Norman Osborn
Tonight, I'm going to kill the Amazing Spider-Man!

You lucky son of a *****. You pulled Norman Osborn! The archenemy of Spider-Man himself!

...Is what I would say if chance had anything to do with it... But you know better than that. Once an Osborn, always an Osborn. This is your day. You've waited for three games, and at last, you shall finally have your revenge!
A long time ago, a boy was bitten by a radioactive spider and that boy grew up to become your greatest enemy. For years, you've fought, yet despite your genius intellect and unlimited resources, always that insolent brat emerged victoriously. Oh sure, you won a few battles (killed his first love atop the Brooklyn Bridge, for one), but he was winning the war. Spider-Man destroyed your reputation, your company, your son, and your very life. He's taken more from you than any man has a right to take. Today all of that changes. Today, Peter Parker, the so-called Amazing Spider-Man, will pay for what he's done. You are an Osborn, greatness runs in your blood. It is your destiny to triumph over all who stand in your way, especially Spider-Man.

Five years ago, during the time you were thought to be dead, you manipulated Professor Miles Warren, the Jackal, into cloning Spider-Man. That event was just a test, an appetizer for the real plots that would soon follow. Now, a small army of Spider-Man clones who all believe they are the original are running around New York, but you know the truth. When Parker's own sanity has been cracked beneath the pressures of this ultimate identity crisis, then you will move in and claim your victory, once and for all. Parker thinks the Jackal is the mastermind behind all this cloning nonsense. Hah! Please. The Jackal is a pawn—a golden goose who spits out Spider-Men-shaped golden eggs. Only your hatred could conceive of such a soul-crushing scheme as this to ruin Parker's life, and soon that scheme will reach its final act.

Outside of your perpetual war against Spider-Man, you're a genius businessman, billionaire, industrialist, and politician with nigh-unlimited resources at your disposal. Following the events of Maximum Carnage, you became Mayor of New York, spearheading the rebuilding efforts and positioning yourself and your company as saviors of the town. After that you remained vigilant in the Hobgoblin Lives crisis, stamping out any allegations that you had anything to do with nefarious Goblins, be they Green, Hob, or otherwise. Your reputation has grown strong since Spider-Man first ruined it, way back when you were allegedly outed as the original Green Goblin. These days you are respected for all the good you've done for the city, while the bad seems to have conveniently been swept under a rug.

The pieces are set. The game is ready. All that's left is to play. Check, mate, Spider-Man.

Norman Osborn is the Goblin Aligned archenemy of Spider-Man. You are a Threat to the Town (but you don't appear as such in investigations; see abilities).

Your Win Condition is to win this war against Parker once and for all. You win if, when the game ends, Norman Osborn has won and Spider-Man—the real Spider-Man—has lost. If that seems like a contradiction, it isn't one. For you to win, you must win, and Spider-Man must lose! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Your Motivation is to convince the real Spider-Man that he is nothing more than a clone. If you achieve your motivation, you will unlock a new ability.
You don't know your own Threshold. See Goblin Insanity.
Bag of Tricks [Item]: This item grants you five abilities: Ghost Bomb, Pumpkin Bomb Barrage, Razor Bats, Smoke Bombs, and Toy Frog. Once you've used all five abilities, you regain 1 use of each.
Ghost Bomb (Activated; Day; 1 Use): Target player becomes Voteblocked and Silenced until the end of the Day.

Pumpkin Bomb Barrage (Activated; Day; 1 Use): Kill Target player and up to two other players who are currently voting for them.

Razor Bats (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Kill Target player.

Smoke Bombs (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Target player becomes Roleblocked until the end of the Night.

Toy Frog (Activated; Day or Night; 1 Use): Target player becomes afflicted with a random condition until the end of the Day or Night.

Brotherhood of Scrier (Passive): You are the leader of a cabal of zealots who worship an all-powerful cosmic being said to be older than the universe. You don't put any stock into their beliefs yourself, but you've wormed your way to the top of this sect to use them for your own ends. Through your Scriers you have spies everywhere, and they are zealously loyal to their "cosmically appointed" Goblin King. As long as you are alive, the Scriers share your alignment and win condition.

Cackling Laughter (Activated; Night): Target player is told they are going to die at the end of the following Day (they will not), and you can use one additional activated ability toNight.

Electro-Shock Gauntlets (Activated; Day): Target player becomes Weakened until the end of the Day, and you can use one additional activated ability toDay.

Former Mayor (Passive): As the former mayor of New York, your reputation is nearly untarnishable. You appear as a Non-Threat and Town Aligned in investigations.

Gaunt [Item]: Gaunt is a powerful superhuman cyborg under your command. The former Doctor Mendel Stromm is more machine than man, now. At your command, Gaunt will kill a player of your choice. Gaunt acts on his own as if he were a player entirely separate from yourself, and not an ability of yours. Once used, Gaunt takes 3 full Days to recharge before he can be used again. If Doctor Trainer still lives, it takes Gaunt 1 full Day to recharge instead. This item cannot be stolen.

Green Goblin Costume [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Green Goblin account. You may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Goblin Games (Passive): You may communicate with your minions anytime inside your secret lair. The channels are separate and they can't speak to each other.

Goblin Glider [Item]: You can't be Tracked.

Hostile Takeover (Activated; Day; 1 Use): Choose a player and look at their role PM. You may steal one non-costume item of your choice from them.

Original Goblin Formula (Passive): The original goblin formula still courses in your veins. It has made you incredibly resistant to bodily harm, you are very hard to kill. The first attempt to kill you each Day or Night automatically fails (the attacker is told it failed but not why). The formula has also made you insane, which has...side-effects.
Goblin Insanity (Secret Condition)
You don't know your own Threshold. This condition can't be removed.
Megalomania (Secret Condition)
Whenever you use a Targeting ability, the Targeted player will be told they've been attacked by the Green Goblin. This condition can't be removed.

Powerful Influence (Passive): As long as you are alive, you may post in the game thread at any time Day or Night, and even from Exile. Also, at the beginning of each Day, if you are in Exile, you automatically return to the Active player pool.

Pull Strings (Activated; Day): When you activate this ability, choose a player to cast a Bonus Secret vote against them. You may not change or unvote this vote once it has been applied.

Survivor (Passive; 1 Use): The first time you would die in the game, you go into Exile instead.

True Nemesis (Passive): You know that Silverfish is the real Peter Parker, a.k.a. The Amazing Spider-Man. Of course, you could just kill him, but that wouldn't be enough punishment to satisfy your nigh-unquenchable thirst for revenge. If the game state is manipulated to a point where Silverfish is still alive, but incapable of winning, you immediately win the game and the game ends.

Traitorous Trainer (Passive): Doctor Seward Trainer is spying on Ben Reilly (one of Parker's clones) on your behalf. Trainer is Town Aligned and a friend of Reilly's, but you've got enough dirt to blackmail him and keep him in line. Plus, his knowledge of genetics helps to recharge Gaunt in a third of the time. The time may come when Trainer becomes a loose end that will need to be eliminated, but for now, he's a pawn in your plan, like all the rest. Whenever Trainer does any tests, you get forwarded a copy of the results—perhaps you can motivate him to tamper with those results before he shows them to anyone else...

Unlimited Resources (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which lets you cast votes as normal for a Mafia game, except, in your case, when you cast a new vote against a player you are not currently voting for with this ability, it doesn't replace your previous vote. You can have one traditional vote against each player in the Active pool in this way.

Untouchable (Activated; Day or Night): Remove all negative conditions from yourself. For the rest of this Day or Night, Players who Target you become Roleblocked.

Scrier.jpg
The Brotherhood of Scrier
The brotherhood of Scrier will rise again, to serve the Master...

What the heck are a group of shady monochromatic goth cultists doing in an issue of Spider-Man? And what do they have to do with the Clone Saga? Read on, true believer, and you'll soon find out. The Cabal of Scrier has much to teach you. Like the title says... Everything you think you know is wrong!
The Cabal of Scrier (a.k.a. the Brotherhood of Scrier or the Secret Order of Scrier) is an ancient group of zealots who worship a cosmic being called Scrier. According to the brotherhood, Scrier is said to be older than the known universe and claims to have been the architect of all life on earth. The cabal worships this entity with unquestioning religious zeal, and though they know not what their master's ultimate plans are for humanity, they have complete faith in them. They believe their actions are driven by a higher power to advance Scrier's all-knowing designs, and they can't be wrong in their pursuit of it. Public knowledge of the cabal faded from history thousands of years ago, but still, they persist—operating in the background manipulating events toward their Master's grand design.

The current leader of the cult is the American billionaire industrialist Norman Osborn. Fate guided Norman into the welcoming hands of the brotherhood following his apparent death six years ago, when he fled to Europe to recover from his near-fatal wounds. It was clear even then that destiny was blessing the secret order with its new leader—someone strong and powerful enough to advance the goals of Scrier like none before him since the ancient times. Under Norman's guidance, the cult grew in numbers significantly, expanding their operation's reach toward a global scale. There are some murmurs that suggest Norman might not believe in the tenants of the cabal and merely worked his way to the top of the order to manipulate it toward his selfish ends. Those who think so are not true believers themselves, for they know not that their doubt is irrelevant. Even if their suspicions are true and Norman is a heretic leader, it is by Scrier's design that he was brought to the brotherhood to lead them. Norman's motives are therefor inconsequential because regardless of why he thinks he is leading you, you can trust that his actions are also the will of Scrier.

With some exceptions (your fearless leader, Norman, for one), each member of the cult undergoes a ritual to strip them of their individuality. Whoever you were before is dead. All who join the cult become Scrier, in honour of the first Scrier. Each Scrier is meant to be a physical manifestation of their cosmic namesake, an avatar for him to extend his will. You aren't an agent of Scrier's, you are Scrier. The one who is many. A hand for him to extend from his body into the world to observe and manipulate it.

Awww, look, you all get matching uniforms. Isn't that cute?

Now you find yourself in New York City—home of your leader, Norman Osborn. You're here to advance the ultimate plan of destroying the one known as Spider-Man. Five years ago, you helped one who is called the Jackal in cloning Spider-Man at Osborn's request. That was the first step in this long-game plan. Now you're back, and so is the Jackal, working together to make not just one but many Spider-Man clones. The Jackal knows it not, but he is a pawn in Osborn's game. In this way, he too serves the Brotherhood of Scrier. You are working with him as a spy for Osborn, watching, and waiting for the right opportunity to help set everything in motion to bring about the one true Spider's fall.

Another of you is also here, but he is tasked with spying on and manipulating another would-be cosmic being called Traveler. Judas Traveler is a mutant with the power to alter the perceptions of everyone, including himself. This ability is at least partially under his control, but in fact, his subconscious is what truly holds the reigns on it. Traveler believes himself to be an all-powerful cosmic being, on the order of scale comparable to the Sorcerer Supreme. It's all an illusion, meant to deceive himself and everyone he meets into believing his fantasies. Still, his powers, while fake, are quite convincing, and sometimes believing something is real is enough to make it real in the hearts of humans who witness it. Traveler is not a member of your order, but he could be manipulated into helping you unwittingly if you convince him it is to his benefit to do so.

The stage is set, the players are ready, go forth into the world, Scrier, and build a monument to his will—one that will make the Spider-Man fall!

Okay so that's technically Spider-Girl in that picture, not Spider-Man, but close enough...
The Brotherhood of Scrier is Goblin Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to serve your Masters faithfully to bring about the end of Spider-Man. You win if, when the game ends, Norman Osborn has won and Spider-Man—the real Spider-Man—has lost.

Your Motivation is to get Judas Traveler to trust that you are serving him (and not the other way around). This can be done if Traveler makes you a member of his Host, a group of loyal followers he has amassed in his travelers. If you achieve your motivation, you'll be granted access to Traveler's discord server and a peek at his Role PM.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Be in Two Places at Once (Passive): You can use two different activated abilities each Day and Night phase.

Bestow Enlightenment (Activated; Night): Target player is gifted with knowledge from Scrier. The Targeted player may ask any one yes or no question of the Mod and receive a 100% guaranteed truthful answer. You will be told their question and the answer as well. Note: Be careful with this power—the gift of knowledge to the wrong person could spell disaster for your team!

Contact Traveler (Activated; Night): Send a message to the Mod which will be forwarded in full to Judas Traveler. He may reply with a single message of his own.

Eyes Everywhere (Activated; Night): Choose a player. As long as that player is not Judas Traveler or Norman Osborn, you may peek at their Role PM.

Goblin Games (Passive): You may communicate with the leader of your cult, Norman Osborn, anytime inside his secret lair by clicking here.

Grow the Cabal (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Target player is invited to join the cult of Scrier, replacing their role with an exact copy of yours (minus this ability) upon acceptance. If they decline the invitation, you regain one use of this ability. You may target exiled players using this ability as if they were in the Active player pool; if you do, the exiled player is returned to the Active player pool upon acceptance.

He Who Watches the Watchers (Activated; Night): Choose a player. That player becomes Tracked by you until the end of the Night, and anyone they Target or who Targets them also becomes Tracked by you until the end of the Night (ie. If you choose Player B, who is Targeting Player C, and is being Targeted by Player A, all three become Tracked by you).

"I Want them Alive!" (Activated; Night): Choose an exiled player and return that player to the Active player pool. You may not activate this ability without Norman Osborn's express permission in advance.

Jackal's Lair (Passive): You have worked with the Jackal on his machiavellian clone plot for some time now, and he believes you are a loyal pawn in his game. You can chat with the Jackal and his minions anytime in his secret lair by clicking here.

Others Will Follow (Passive): Death is inconsequential for a cult whose members are said to number "greater than even the stars in the heavens". As long as Norman Osborn is still alive, if you die or are sent into exile, you return to the Active player pool at the start of the following Day.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.

Sword of Scrier [Item; 1 Use]: You can discard this item during the Night instead of using any activated abilities to kill Target player.

MILES WARREN aka THE JACKAL
Gotcha!
Professor Miles Warren. The Jackal. The Master of cloning himself. The Big Man on campus. Mister "I Fooled Ya" with a capital F. Magistrate of the Grand-Schemers Society of Schemers. And most importantly of all, Nemesis of Spider-Man! That's right, the Jackal is all of these things and more. And he's also YOU. Congratulations; you're the big bad supervillain of A Spider-Man Mafia 3!
Sit down boys and girls and let me tell you the sad, sad tale of professor Miles Warren.

Once a distinguished professor of biology at Empire State University, things took a decidedly despicably downward turn from the minute you met Peter Parker. It was bad enough that the gifted but lazy young man didn't take your classes seriously, but on top of that, he was dating the brilliant and beautiful Gwen Stacy—your star pupil. Your Gwen. Yes, I know, it's completely inappropriate for you to be hopelessly infatuated with one of your students (and doubly so considering the age difference), but in all your years you've never met anyone who captured your heart the way she has. Gwen was different from all the other girls—she was special.

Until Spider-Man killed her.

That's right, Gwen's life was cut short by the foolishly arrogant and dangerously reckless would-be-superhero. In one of his many battles with the Green Goblin, Gwen would be used as a hostage atop the Brooklyn Bridge. Instead of protecting her interests and luring the Goblin away, Spider-Man attacked, and in their fighting, Gwen was knocked off the top of the bridge. The fool then tried to catch her with his blasted webbing and ended up snapping her neck.

Your Gwen. So young. So beautiful. So much wasted potential.

Spider-Man must pay.

Something in you snapped that day. When Gwen Stacy died atop that bridge, in a way, Miles Warren died too. From that point on, you were the Jackal. A twisted supervillain bent on bringing Gwen back from the dead by any means necessary and destroying those who had wronged her like her boyfriend Parker and especially Spider-Man. You began devoting your vast intelligence toward these single-minded tasks...

You had already been working with an associate professor on Anthony Serba on cloning experiments as part of a research grant from the university, and in fact, you had managed to successfully clone a frog in a lab. Inspired by this, you decided cloning would be how you could bring Gwen back from the dead, and also how you would punish Spider-Man for murdering her. You immediately set to work using the equipment to create two test clones of your students... One of Gwen, and one of Peter Parker. When Serba discovered what you were doing he tried to destroy the clones, and you accidentally killed him. Unable to accept what you had done you dove further into denial and the bridge between Miles Warren and the Jackal's separate personalities grew ever wider.

Your first human cloning experiments were partially successful. The clones were brought to life, but they both suffered a form of cellular degeneration that would soon destroy them. You'd have to work hard to correct that in future batches. You ended the life of the failed Gwen clone, but something happened when you tried to do the same for the failed Parker clone... He fought back with incredible strength and dove out the window to escape, climbing down the wall and leaping into the darkness below. Suddenly it all made sense. Peter Parker is Spider-Man! Of course, how could you be so dumb? The reason Gwen was atop that bridge on that day was that she was Spider-Man's girlfriend! And so, Spider-Man was now doubly responsible for her death. Your hatred for both Parker and Spider-Man were one and the same.

Soon after you corrected the clone degeneration—or at least found a way to put it off for longer—and set to work creating a new batch of clones. This time, you cloned not only Gwen and Parker again, but also yourself. This put you on a path toward facing the real Spider-Man in Shea Stadium, and your first death.

View attachment 43894
Yeah, that one.

Spider-Man against Spider-Man, while you and Gwen watched from the sidelines and reporter Ned Leeds's life dangled in the balance literally below a bomb. Neither one of them knew which of them was the real Spider-Man and which was the clone. Your revenge was complete, for whichever one won the fight, one Spider-Man would lose.

You weren't actually in attendance that day. No, you watched it all from a monitor. The Jackal who goaded the Spiders into fighting one another was your clone. You figured, in case things went wrong, better to play it safe. Of course, the one thing you didn't count on was the Stacy clone intervening and convincing your clone that what he was doing was wrong. Your clone freed Leeds before the bomb went off and seemingly killed you and one of the two Spider-Men. The other disposed of the bodies and went home to his new girlfriend, Mary-Jane.

That was 5 years ago.

Flash forward to today. You've been living in secret (nobody knew you were alive), waiting, biding your time, building an army of Spider-Men clones in secret. Somewhere, out there, your near-perfect Gwen clone is still alive, having survived the Shea Stadium blast. And the other Spider-Man from that day? The one Parker thought he disposed of? He lived too and was calling himself Ben Reilly now to differentiate from Parker. The time was coming when you would step back into the center stage. Kill the Spider-Men once and for all, and steal your happily ever after with Gwen. You've poisoned Parker's aunt May to lure the Spider-Clones from five years ago back to New York, where your Spider-Clone-Army awaits them. And at the end of it all, the ultimate revenge awaits... The revelation of who is the true Peter Parker, and boy will the uncertainty of that question confuse and confound your opponents until it is too late.

The trap has been set. All that's left to do is spring it.

Time to get to work, these Spider-Men won't destroy themselves
The Jackal is Mafia Aligned.

But also, Miles Warren is Town Aligned.

The Jackal's Win Condition is to eliminate all Town Aligned and Spider Aligned players. You win at the beginning of the Day if no Town or Spider Aligned players exist in the Active player pool.

But Miles Warren's Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.

And you are considered a Threat to the Town.

This is a contradiction. As it stands, you can't win the game without killing yourself. Ironic, the title "Even if I Live, I Die," was supposed to be about Spider-Man, not you. But them's the breaks. You have a split personality, and those personalities are in direct conflict, warring with each other.

Your Motivation is to get Gwen to fall in love with you. This is represented in game terms by whether or not Gwen decides to betray you to the rest of the Town (which she has strong reasons to do). There is a turning point in the game, by which time she will have to decide where her allegiance lies—to her creator or her loved ones. If it is to you, you'll have achieved your motivation; if it is to the rest of the Town, you will not have. If you achieve your motivation, you will no longer be the Jackal, but merely Miles Warren—your Mafia alignment and win condition will be discarded.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Collect Blood Sample (Activated; Night): Collect a blood sample from Target player (see "Master Cloner" below). If that player was Roleblocked when you activated this ability, you may also peek at their Role PM.

Create "The Cure" (Activated; Day or Night): At the start of the game, you (and only you) have the secret to curing the clone degeneration process. You start the game with one dose, but you can use this ability to make more. When you activate this ability, if you have used it an even number of times across the entire game, you create a new item called "The Cure" which has the same effect as the item by that name listed below. You can possess any number of copies of The Cure.

"Jack" (Passive; 1 Use): Jack is a diminutive degenerating bald clone of Peter Parker who dresses in a smaller Jackal costume and serves as your personal assistant. He helps you get **** done, when not annoying you and everyone else with his witty banter. Once this game you can use Jack to allow you to activate two different activated abilities in a single Day or Night phase.

Jackal's Claws (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game. The player you are voting for is Weakened for as long as you are voting them.

Master Cloner (Activated; Night): Choose a dead player that you have collected a blood sample from (see "Collect Blood Sample" above). That player is revived with the clone subtype and gains the Clone Degeneration ability if they do not have it already. If they were Spider Aligned, they are now Mafia Aligned.
Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each even-numbered Day a six-sided die is rolled in secret. On a 6 you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

Regeneration Pod [Item]: If you would die, you don't, and instead your Threshold is permanently reduced by 1. If your Threshold is ever reduced to 0, you die (if you're not already dead) and stay dead—there's no longer enough undegraded genetic material to grow a new clone from you.

Secret Lair (Passive): You may chat with your minions (or pawns) at any time inside your secret lair. The channels are separate and pawns in one channel cannot see the others.

Sleep Command (Activated; Day or Night): Target clone player becomes Roleblocked, Voteblocked, and Silenced until the end of the Day or Night. This ability bypasses any immunity the Target clone player might have to those conditions, but if used on a player who is not a clone, the ability fails. Note: having the clone subtype doesn't necessarily mean a player is a clone, it merely means they might be.

The Cure [Item; 1 Use]: At any time you may discard this item to use it on a player of your choice, no action required. If you use it on a player with the Clone Degeneration ability, they become cured and it ceases to function. If you use it on yourself, your Threshold is permanently increased by 1, to a maximum of Majority - 1. Note: Until Gwen has been cured of her clone degeneration, you control all her actions—including how her activated abilities are used and even who she is allowed to vote for.

The Jackal's Revenge (Passive): It is your alter-ego, the Jackal, who is responsible for all the terrible things you have done. Miles Warren had nothing to do with it. At least, that's what you tell yourself in order to stay sane (as sane as a person with split personalities can be). For now, the Jackal and Miles share control of the same body, but the Jackal is stronger and the day may come when he decides he doesn't need Miles anymore. If ever your Threshold is dropped to 7 or lower, you cease being Miles Warren, and are merely The Jackal—your Town alignment and win condition will be discarded. As long as you are still Mafia Aligned, you may post in the game thread at any time using The Jackal account, and you may also cast Bonus votes using this account.
You may or may not be a clone of the original Miles Warren and, as such, possess the Clone subtype. At this point, you've lost track of who is a clone and who isn't anymore, yourself included. Honestly, what difference does it make? You don't care one way or the other. You're basically immortal as long as you can keep cloning yourself, so if you're not a clone yet you probably will be someday soon, and maybe that's not such a bad thing. A small price to pay for immortality.

SPIDERCIDE
I like my programming! I'm daddy's boy all the way!

Not sure who Spidercide is? I don't blame you. He was only a major villain during the Clone Saga and hasn't really been heard from in the comic books since. Right around the time the Jackal had both Spider-Man and his clone thinking they might BOTH be clones, this guy showed up professing to be the TRUE Peter Parker. That was a sham though, as he was only trying to get close to Mary Jane to kill the poor gal (programing can be a ***** that way). This clone died, but was then resurrected, and turned way sour. His genetic makeup became so mutated that he gained complete control over his molecules and—with a little help from the Jackal—became a very legitimate threat to dear ol' Spidey.

That's you on the left (back) side of the double-cover there; the big guy standing over a pile of dead Spider-Man clones. Clones you killed. You committed Spider-cide. Get it? Your "dad" came up with it. That's right, the Jackal makes dad-jokes. They're a hoot.
You are the Jackal's most perfect creation: a genetically engineered clone of Spider-Man built to have complete control over your genetic makeup. In addition to having all of the amazing spider-powers of your genetic donor, you can rearrange yourself into almost any shape or structure, and can even control bits of you separated from the main body to reassemble yourself from the tiniest of bits. And yes, it's as creepy as it sounds.

View attachment 43877
And able to deliver jokes while you do it.

For a short while, following your "birth," you thought you were the real Peter Parker. You even donned the suit and played Spider-Man once, but before long you came into contact with other clones like Kaine and Ben Reilly who told you that you too were a clone. At first, you refused to believe it, but then Kaine "killed" you by throwing a garbage truck on your face. Ouch! It hurt, but not as much as the realization that the truck didn't kill you. As your body regenerated itself you realized the truth, You weren't the real Peter Parker, but you weren't just a clone either. You were something more. A genetically engineered super-clone. The pinnacle of dear ol' dad's experiments on Parker's DNA. The one built to be better—nay, to replace—all the others. Even the original. Make way, Spider-Men, it's time for Spidercide!

Kill EVERYONE! Especially KAINE!!
Spidercide is Mafia Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to eliminate all Town Aligned and Spider Aligned players. You win at the beginning of the Day if no Town or Spider Aligned players exist in the Active player pool.

Your Motivation is to do as your told and kill Kaine, like a good little Spidercide. If you achieve your motivation, your ally, Scrier, will grant you enlightenment which reveals the truth about the Jackal that your "daddy" would rather you not know... Until then, it'd probably be wise to keep this tidbit to yourself.
Your Threshold is X+1, where X is the number of votes currently against you. This means, if you have 6 votes against you, your Threshold is 7.
Adaptive Combatant (Activated; Day or Night): Choose a Condition. You are immune to the chosen Condition until you use this ability again (this effect does not end at the end of a Day or Night).

Daddy's Boy (Activated; Day): Activating this ability grants you a traditional voting power until the end of the Day which allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game. If at the end of the Day you and the Jackal are both voting for the same player and that player is not Lynched, you kill that player.

Liquid Body (Activated; Night): Choose a condition and Target a player. The Target player is afflicted with the chosen condition until the end of the Night.

Molecular Reconstruction (Activated; Day or Night): Return to the Active player pool from the Dead player pool. You can use this ability while Dead as long as the Jackal is still alive.

Spidercide Costume [Item]: Despite appearances, the red and blue "costume" you seem to be wearing is actually just your skin restructured to look and feel like a suit. So, if you think about it, you're actually running around naked, and this "item" isn't really an item. Now there's a mental image you can't get out of your head. The skin-suit morphs to your desired appearance, so you show up as Spider Aligned in investigations that return alignment. This "item" can't be stolen.

The Jackal's Bodyguard (Passive): You can chat with your creator, the Jackal, anytime in his secret lair by clicking here. Also, as long as both you and the Jackal are in the Active player pool, the Jackal is Protected.
Protected (Condition)
The first attempt to kill you in a Day or Night will fail. Multiple instances of this condition stack.
You are a clone of the real Spider-Man (albeit an imperfect one) and, as such, possess the Clone subtype. Unlike other clones, you are fully aware of your clone status.

SPIDER-CARNAGE
Uh-oh

Tell me that isn't Spider-Man wearing the Carnage symbiote. Please tell me that isn't Spider-Man wearing the Carnage symbiote. For the love of God, please tell me you're joking.

You're not joking. ****. Well, okay, I guess. Let's do this.
There are two minds in your head.

One of you is an imperfect genetic duplicate of Spider-Man.

The other, a psychopathic alien symbiote who loves to kill people.

Together, you're Spider-Carnage.

How did this happen? It all starts with clones. You see, you're a clone of Peter Parker, a man better known the world over as the Amazing Spider-Man. You were created by one of his villains, the Jackal, in an attempt to destroy his life and replace him with you. But it didn't work out that way. The cloning process which created you is imperfect—all clones eventually face degeneration. For some, it comes quickly. Others, it leaves them unblemished for years. For you, you were one of the unluckiest ones, born in a state of decay. A dud from the get-go. Your "father", the Jackal, rejected you. He threw you out with the trash, knowing you'd be a pile of degenerative goo before you could get far, but something else happened instead. Something miraculous. Drawn to your pain and suffering, the Carnage symbiote sensed you from nearly a mile away. Carnage had been defeated by Spider-Man time and again, and now the symbiote wandered the sewers without a host to call its own. The symbiote found you and bonded with you there in the trash heap. You didn't have the strength to stop it, and so you let it wash over you. Next thing you knew, you were healed of your clone degeneration. The Carnage symbiote had saved you, and together, you were going to do great things.

You returned to your "father", where you showed him of your transformation. Surely, as Spider-Carnage, you couldn't be useful at replacing Parker, but you could definitely help with the life-destroying part of the plan instead... And that way, by helping the Jackal, your "other's" thirst for blood could be satiated at the same time. It was a win for all involved—well, except for Parker. Your genetic donor was hated by the Jackal, by Carnage, and even by you. And you know what they say... With great hatred, comes great responsibility to Kill Spider-Man!

Spider-Carnage is Mafia Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to eliminate all Town Aligned and Spider Aligned players. You win at the beginning of the Day if no Town or Spider Aligned players exist in the Active player pool.

Your Motivation is to kill as often as possible. Killing strengthens the carnage symbiote, which was severely weakened after healing you of your clone degeneration. Every time you kill another player, your Threshold is permanently increased by 1.
Your Threshold is 6. It takes 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Blood and Agony! (Activated; Day): Target player is Weakened until the end of the following Night.

Carnage is my Name! (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game. Whenever you vote in red, a Bonus vote is automatically applied to whomever you are voting for, which shows up as being from Carnage in the votecount. Carnage votes do not remove when you unvote or switch your vote to a different player, and whenever someone is Lynched with a Carnage vote on them, it counts as a Kill for you.

Death and Destruction! (Activated; Night): Kill Target player.

The Jackal's Pawn (Passive): You can chat with your creator, the Jackal, anytime in his secret lair by clicking here.

Web-Shooters [Item]: The player(s) you are voting for with a traditional vote become Roleblocked until you are no longer voting them.
You are a clone of the real Spider-Man (albeit an imperfect one) and, as such, possess the Clone subtype. Unlike other clones, you are fully aware of your clone status.

Lady Ock.jpg
Doctor Carolyn Trainer
a.k.a.

LADY OCTOPUS

Hey Spider -- I've got a crush on you!

Doc Ock is dead, but his legacy of terror lives on in you, his star protégé. There's a new Doc Ock in town, one with sexier curves and rad purple hair. Hey, it's the '90s!
Okay, here's the deal. So, this is the story all about how your life got flipped-turned upside-down and I'd like to take a minute to just sit right there and tell you how you became a princess of a town called Doc Ock's Lair.

Hah. I thought it was pretty funny.

No, but for real, you're a brilliant scientist, just like your father, Doctor Seward Trainer. As a kid, you wanted to follow in his footsteps (and in a way you did—you've got a PhD in nuclear physics and several degrees in computer science), you know, make him proud? But though you developed an aptitude for science at a young age, he never showed any interest in mentoring you (heck, forget mentoring, he was barely present for you as a father at all). The short-sighted bastard rejected you because of his sexist attitudes. He wanted a son, you see. Never would he accept that a daughter could be his equal (or better) in the academic fields of study he pursued. What a deadbeat. But you know what? In rejecting you he pushed you into the welcoming arms of an even more brilliant mind—Doctor Otto Octavius.

You and Otto formed a great bond, and you would become his star pupil. In him, you found the fatherly adoration you never got from your own dad, and so when Otto was murdered by the psychopath known as Kaine, you took it pretty hard. You decided then that you wouldn't just follow in his academic footsteps, but also his criminal ones. You used his discarded technology to become the new Doctor Octopus, and in his name, you would avenge his death and show all the people like your father that you weren't someone to underestimate or disregard ever again.
Lady Octopus is Mafia Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Given you have no Mafia teammates, you're probably a little confused by this alignment. Let me clear it up: yes, there is a traditional Mafia team in this game, but you're not really part of them. Lady Octopus has her own agenda, it just so happens to coincide with theirs. If it helps, just think of yourself as a self-aligned character with a win condition identical to that of the Mafia's.

Your Win Condition is to eliminate all Town Aligned and Spider Aligned players. You win at the beginning of the Day if no Town or Spider Aligned players exist in the Active player pool.

Your Motivation is twofold: 1) to avenge your mentor's death by killing (or having someone else kill) the man responsible—the murderous psychopath called Kaine; and/or 2) to commit patricide by killing (or having someone else kill) your own father—Doctor Seward Trainer. If you achieve your motivation by killing Kaine, you will be told who all the remaining Spider Aligned players are in the Active Player pool; if you achieve your motivation by killing Doctor Seward trainer, you will be told who all the remaining Town Aligned players are in the Active Player pool.
Your Threshold is 8. It takes 8 votes to see you Lynched.
Armed and Dangerous (Passive; Arms): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game, except that you have four metal arms, each of which is capable of casting a separate vote. Arms devoted to voting count as being unavailable for other purposes (see "Cybernetic Tentacles").

Carolyn's Genius-Level Intellect (Activated; Day or Night; 1 Use): Divert all your technological resources and genius mind toward the task of uncovering another player's deepest secrets. When you activate this ability, choose Hacking or Theft and Target a player; if you chose Hacking, you'll receive a complete chat log of up to one random discord channel they presently have access to; if you chose Theft, steal a random non-costume item from them.

Cybernetic Tentacles [Item; Arms]: You wouldn't be "the new Doc Ock" without these babies. Having a set of four metal arms makes you a queen of multitasking. When available, each arm can be used independently to do a variety of things (see "Arms" abilities), or you can idle them to focus on defense. As long as you have at least one arm available, you are Protected. If all four are available, you are Protected twice. This item can't be stolen.
Protected (Condition)
The first attempt to kill you in a Day or Night will fail. Multiple instances of this condition stack.

Legacy of Terror (Passive): Poor Otto died a hero and nobody will ever know. You've inherited Otto's metal arms, but not his sentimental heart. You're a criminal, bad to the bone, and you were always going to be! If the game starts with fewer than 26 players, this role will go to the player who is controlling Doc Ock after their death instead of being a character in its own right.

Octopus' Revenge (Activate; Night; Arms): If you have at least one available arm remaining, Kill Target player. After using this ability, all your remaining arms become unavailable until the next Day (see "Cybernetic Tentacles")

Personal Force-Field Harness [Item; Arms]: You are immune to all negative conditions. Your cybernetic arms can pass through your force-field, which is an inconvenient-but-necessary weakness for you to function within it. For each arm you have that is unavailable (see "Cybernetic Tentacles"), one random negative condition bypasses this immunity. The random condition is redetermined each time you use an arm for something, rerolling doubles, and the Roleblocked and Voteblocked conditions have a slightly higher probability than others at being rolled each time one of these piercing conditions is determined.
Roleblocked (Condition)
You may not use activated abilities. Passive and Item abilities are unaffected.
Voteblocked (Condition)
You may not cast traditional votes. Bonus and/or Secret votes are unaffected.

Restraining Grip (Activated; Day or Night; Arms): Target player becomes Roleblocked and Voteblocked until the end of the Day or Night, and if you still have arms available you can use another activated ability after this. Two arms are unavailable while this ability is in use (see "Cybernetic Tentacles").

Scarlet Crush (Passive): You have a crush on Ben Reilly, the original Scarlet Spider. Each vote you place on him will increase his threshold by 1 until you remove the vote (thus, rendering your votes against him almost meaningless). That said if you are ever voting for him with at least two votes, he becomes Roleblocked for as long as the votes stay on him.

Scarlet Nightmare (Passive): If Joe Wade, the Second Scarlet Spider, is ever a character in the game, you receive a slew of abilities connected to that character. Due to recent events, some players might have been led to believe he is a threat in the game that you are/were in communication with, even if he might not be here at all...

Tentacle-Lasers (Passive; Arms): You've upgraded your predecessor's arms to include lasers on each end. At any time when you have at least one arm available you may Target a player to make them become Weakened until the end of the Day or Night (not an action), and one of your arms becomes unavailable for as long as they remain Weakened in this way (see "Cybernetic Tentacles").
Weakened (Condition)
Votes you make are halved in value and kills made against you pierce one layer of protection.
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.

You are...
Rubik.jpg
Rubik
You will be Rubik, as we are all Rubik

You are Rubik. What more is there?
In an effort to get A Spider-Man Mafia 3 off the ground, average mild-mannered internet user Rubik suggested bridging the gap between NGA and ZD. While engaging in probable clone propaganda for the upcoming game, Rubik was bitten by a radioactive clone! Before long, he discovered he had inherited the strange ability to duplicate himself from scratch—nay, not from scratch, but from the very inert unRubik matter of those around him. Before long the Rubik spread until all were as he; the one who is many; the Rubik.
Rubik is Rubik Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to make every single one of the 24 players in the game become Rubik. You win and the game ends as soon as all players are Rubik Aligned. If the game ends and even one player is not Rubik Aligned, be they Active, Exiled, or Dead, you lose.

Your Motivation is to understand the true nature of your role. Something about it doesn't add up, and if you can figure out what that is, you might just unlock your true Rubik potential. If you achieve your motivation, you will be given a new Role.
Your Threshold is Infinity. Infinity is defined as being greater than every single number. Therefore, the number of votes required to see you lynched must be greater than the number of votes available in the game.
Rubik's Immunity (Passive): You cannot be targeted by non-Rubik abilities, and you can post in the game thread at any time, Day or Night.

Rubik's Power (Activated; Day or Night; 3 Uses): Choose one:
+1 Use: If used during the Day you gain the ability to vote as normal for a mafia game until the end of the Day. If used at Night you may Roleblock up to one Target player. Roleblocking a player with this ability kills them instead if you were voting for that player when the previous Day ended.
-3 Uses: Target Dead player is revived as a Rubik clone.
-10 Uses: Pick Active, Exiled, or Dead. All players in the chosen player pool become Rubik clones.

Rubik's Rubik's Cube [Item]: This item has the answers, you're sure of it. At the start of each Day while you have this item, you may choose one side to "solve"; White, Red, Blue, Green, Orange, or Yellow. Each side will give you a clue to the truth, and solving all sides will unlock your true Rubik potential.
You are a Rubik clone, and as such you have the clone subtype. Unlike other clones in this game, you know that you are a clone, and do not have to guess.
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...
Traveler.jpg
Judas Traveller and his Host
They strain, futilely, to understand you... But their very madness prevents them from ever doing it.
I want to understand you as well -- And I will!

Wow, Judas-freaking-Traveller! No wonder the Rubik illusion was so convincing. This guy is a mutant with the power to shape the knowable reality to his will, altering the perceptions of everyone around him—even his own—so much so that it is indistinguishable from the real thing. What is real, except that which we think we know to be real? With Judas Traveller in play, what we think we know is only what he desires us to know, and thus, we really know nothing at all.

This new role, your real role, completely replaces your old one.
Judas Traveller. You are an enigma.

It's unclear who exactly you are. In an alternate reality, a dimension where the events of your world are depicted as fiction in a comic book for the entertainment of readers, there are some who think they know. But they're probably wrong, for even through the multiverse your powers can reach to reshape what people think they know about you. Still, we have to start somewhere, so let's start with the theories. There are many competing theories about who Judas Traveller truly is, but I will present to you the most prevalent three.

Some say you were a brilliant criminal psychologist who suffered a nervous breakdown when your mutant powers to alter perceptions first manifested themselves. Your delusions could hardly be called as much if everyone experienced them equally, after all. As your powers grew, you were able to manipulate your own perceptions and those of everyone around you until the reality of your apparent god-like powers being nothing more than an illusion was eroded completely. Non-existent god-like powers become very existent if everyone, yourself included, believed in them. Despite ascending to being so much more than a man, you were still perplexed by the same drive that drove you in your past life, and you devoted your incredible powers and followers toward understanding the criminal psyche like none before ever had.

Others say you're a time traveler, a historian of sorts who has traveled back to this time to better understand and learn from the people within it. Your powers, appearing as magic to anyone without proper understanding, is really just your future tech at work. In the timeline you are from, criminals are a thing of the past, and yet they threaten to resurface as people forget about the lessons they learned from them. You have traveled back here to learn from the errors of humanity's criminally violent past to save your future from repeating them.

Finally, and this is perhaps my favourite interpretation, there is the thought that Judas Traveller is, in fact, Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus Christ. Don't worry, I'm not going to get all religious on you. Let's just dive into the important bits of the theory. The legend goes that for Judas' sin of betraying the divine, he was cursed with immortality. Doomed to walk—or, travel—the earth for eternity, until such time as he is able to understand the magnitude of his sins. Redemption is within reach if only enlightenment could be found first, but finding enlightenment is no simple task. If you believe this interpretation, then Judas is doomed to travel forever; he will never find redemption because it requires looking inward as much as out. You spend your life burrowing into the psyche of criminals everywhere, trying to understand the source of their motivation for sin, in hopes that one day it will lead you to better understanding yours.

Regardless of which interpretation you believe (and, in fact, it may be none of these), the important matters are this: Judas Traveller is an incredibly powerful, nigh-immortal being who claims to have walked the world for centuries, all as part of his eternal quest to understand the criminal mind. Together, with your Host (a group of individuals moved by your wisdom and abilities enough to follow you in all things), you seek out and find those at the center of great evil events to unlock the mysteries behind their creation, and maybe unlock the mysteries to humanity, while you're at it.

See, you believe you might finally understand the root of all evil. You believe evil is shared in the hearts of every man, woman, and child. You believe that to deny your baser instincts for evil is to deny a cosmic force of balance in the universe, one the fates will not abide. You believe that for every good man who thinks they're above temptation the scales of karmic justice send forth a dozen who pursue evil in its place. Truly, if your theories are correct, then the world would be a better place without those in it who pursue a crusade of goodness. The crusaders of good unleash the forces of evil like no ordinary human can—by unbalancing the scales, they demand the forces of evil overcompensate to bring things back into balance.

And finally, here, in New York City of all places, you might have found a hub of criminal activity so polluted that it could unlock the answers you seek. One man is haunted by his demons—both real and imagined, some of whom even share his own face—which threatens to destroy him from the inside out. Around him, madness festers like a disease. Criminals flock to him, compelled to war against this man who's identity is largely unknown to all of them. He believes his part in the story is good, but how can one who motivates the evil in so many others be truly good? You must understand him, for in him might be the key to everything you've sought for centuries.

Before this game is up, Judas Traveller will understand the one they call Spider-Man!
Judas Traveller and his Host are Traveller Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town, but your win condition doesn't conflict with the Towns (as in, you can achieve your win condition, and Town can still win afterward—they just can't win while you're around).

Your Win Condition is to understand the root of all evil by exposing the truth—that evil exists as a karmic balancer to overwhelming good. Spider-Man is one such creature who's actions demand the scales to be balanced in the other direction. He must be made to see that his crusade against evil inspires the very evil he purports to fight. You will break his spirit, and make him understand the truth, as you've seen it. Only then do you win the game. You win and exit the game as soon as the real Spider-Man voluntarily gives up his win condition and accepts responsibility for the Threats he himself creates.

You have already achieved your Motivation in unlocking this Role.
Your Threshold is Majority (however, see "Certain Point of View" under Abilities). A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Aunt May's Soul [Item]: You appear to have Aunt May's soul trapped in a receptacle that displays her burning in hellfire. The item is a fake but seems real enough to be convincing (the illusion of the item is depicted in the relevant discord chat). Once during the game, after Aunt May's death, you can offer Spider-Man a chance to trade this item for another Town Aligned player's life of his choice. Depending on his choice, something interesting might happen. This item can't be stolen or copied.

Certain Point of View (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a mafia game, except your votes have the power to distort perceptions to make people forget who they were voting for. Whenever you vote a player with your traditional vote, that player automatically unvotes. If that player was voting for you when they unvote in this way, you get +1 to your Threshold until the end of the Day.

Dimension Door (Activated; Day): Return an Exiled player of your choice to the Active player pool. You can use this ability even when you're in Exile.

Evil in All of Us (Activated; Night): Choose an Active player who is not currently a Threat to the Town. If that player still has an unfulfilled Motivation, they become a Threat to the Town until such time as their Motivation has been achieved.

Peer Into the Soul (Activated; Day or Night): Choose any living player (even one in exile). If that player was Town, Mafia, or Spider Aligned, you get to see their entire Role PM.

Psychic Sword [Item]: This item grants you a single Secret Bonus vote that you can cast by PMing the Mod. You can unvote and reapply the Secret vote to other players just as you can with traditional votes, except it is all done in private and can't be traced back to you.

The Host (Passive): You have a loyal group of followers called your "Host" who practically worship you. These non-player characters are represented by a special discord channel that only you have access to (click here to view it), which comes complete with a series of special discord abilities that you can use through there. Discord abilities are a secret fourth type of ability in this game (the first three being Activated, Passive, and Item). You can expand your host by inviting other players to the discord server, but beware, inviting others to this channel both grants one access to and makes one vulnerable to your special discord abilities.

The Trial of Peter Parker (Activated; Night; 1 Use): This ability takes effect as soon as you activate it and lasts until the end of the following Night after the one in which it was used. The real Spider-Man, Kaine, the Jackal, and every other player who is a known Threat to the Town (as revealed in Post #3, be they active, deceased, or in exile) will be issued an invite to bear witness to and testify in "The Trial of Peter Parker". The trial will take place in this discord channel (click here), during which time Spider-Man and Kaine will be Exiled. If by the end of the trial, Spider-Man pleads "Guilty" to the charge of causing the very evil he battles to stop—knowing it will mean he loses the game—then Spider-Man loses any win conditions he has and becomes the last Threat to the Town (all other Threats are exiled). If Spider-Man refuses to plead guilty, all deceased and exiled Threats return to the Active player pool.

You are...
Kaine.jpg
KAINE
"You have been found wanting--and have suffered the MARK of KAINE!"

Who is the masked murdering psychopath known only as KAINE? Why does he want Spider-Man's clone, the Scarlet Spider, dead? And what doom does the mystery surrounding his origins spell for the troubled Peter Parker? Read on, true believer, and the mystery shall be revealed!
Kaine—or Kaine Parker, as he'll later come to be known—is the original Spider-Man clone. The very first model, created even before the perceived "first" clone who would fight Spider-Man at Shea Stadium in the original Clone Saga (you know, the one who would later go on to become the Scarlet Spider). Kaine was a prototype, and as a prototype, there were still a few bugs to be worked out. An imperfect clone who would suffer more than any other. All you've ever known was pain.

From the very moment of your "birth", you knew something was wrong with you. The pain, like a constant fever burning in your blood, was there from the start. A defect in the cloning process left you with a genetic degeneration disorder that disfigured most of your body, resulting in constant pain, and eventually, death. Rather than try to correct the issue, your creator—Professor Miles Warren, a.k.a. the Jackal—chose to start anew, discarding you like a failed experiment. Problem was when the Jackal threw you out with the trash he expected your degenerative disorder to claim your life within hours; even he didn't expect that your cloned spider-powers would be further mutated and enhanced by the genetic degeneration. You became stronger, faster, more durable than the original Spider-Man ever was, and gained the fortitude necessary to survive (if you could call it surviving) the initial changes onset by your degenerative disease. But when you tried to return to your creator to show him what you'd become, you'd learned he'd already created a new, more perfect clone. That's when your creator tried to kill you. What? He couldn't have you running around mucking up his plans now, could he? But in this too, he failed. Your enhanced strength was more than he could handle, and you escaped into the night.

You watched from the sidelines as the Jackal carried out his plans. You watched as the true Peter Parker, a man you've never met and yet know implicitly, fought for his life against a new, more perfect clone. Watched as the ensuing battle seemingly claimed the life of your brother and creator both. And through it all, you felt the pain.

But the Jackal and the other clone didn't die that night. No, they escaped into the night as well, presumably with plans to come back and once again ruin the life of Peter Parker. Parker, the only innocent victim in this whole sordid business. Much as you hate him for having the life you never could, you hate the other clone even more. He calls himself Ben Reilly, and despite being nothing more than a copy of a human being like yourself, he somehow is managing to lead a semi-normal life. You won't let him. He will suffer as you've suffered, and he will die as you will die, his life cut short by the same degenerative disease that burns through your veins. And when Reilly is dead, your attention will be turned to the only person with whom your hatred burns even stronger: the Jackal.

They will all know what it is to suffer the Mark of Kaine.
Kaine is Self Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is for the Jackal and all Spider-Man clones (except for you) to meet their end, and for the real Spider-Man to survive. You win if, when the game ends, the real Spider-Man still lives while the Jackal and every other clone of Spider-Man are dead.

Your Motivation is to find a cure for the clone degeneration disorder which will one day kill you. If you achieve your motivation, some or all of your Alignment, Win Condition, and abilities will change.
Your Threshold is X +1, where X is equal to the number of votes currently against you. This means, if you have 6 votes against you, your Threshold is 7.
Bio-Bombs [Item]: Whenever you Target a player with an ability, that player is also Roleblocked or Voteblocked (your choice) until the end of the Day/Night.

Brutal Combatant (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. If you vote for a player that is voting for you, your vote will be tripled in strength.

Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each Day a number of six-sided dice are rolled equal to the Day's number (1d6 on Day 1, 2d6 on Day 2, etc). If the result of the roll ever reaches a total of 42 or greater, you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

Dealbreaker (Passive): If the random player selected through Hired Assassin (see below) chooses you or the real Spider-Man as his or her Target, it is the random player who is killed instead.

Hired Assassin (Passive): At the beginning of each Night, a randomly selected player is given the option of having you kill another Target player of their choosing. The random player will only be told that Kaine is serving them, whereas you will be told who they are as well as who was Targeted. If they elect to do this, it replaces both your activated ability and theirs for the Night.

Mark of Kaine (Activated; Day or Night): Target player is given the Mark of Kaine. This effect is permanent.
Mark of Kaine (Secret Condition)
Your Threshold is cut in half (rounded down).

Nomad (Passive): If you would be Lynched, you are cast into Exile instead. If a player with the Mark of Kaine dies while you are in Exile, you return to the Active player pool.

Precognitive Awareness (Passive): Whenever a player votes for you, a vote is automatically placed against them first. These votes show up as being yours and are considered Bonus votes. You may have as many of these Bonus votes in play as you can accumulate, but Unvoting removes all of them (as well as your traditional vote).

Steal Tech (Activated; Day or Night): Steal a random Item from Target player.
You are a clone of the real Spider-Man (albeit an imperfect one) and, as such, possess the Clone subtype. Unlike other clones, you are fully aware of your clone status.
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...
Scarlet.jpg
THE SCARLET SPIDER
All of the power, none of the responsibility

Serious question, though: who gives this guy fashion advice? What kind of a superhero goes web swinging around town in a hoodie?! I mean, it gets the job done, sure, if you don't mind dying of ridicule and laughter from every foe you meet...
This is a tale of two young men. Orphaned as a young child and raised by his Aunt and Uncle, one was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained amazing spider-like powers. The other was his genetic duplicate, his clone. You are the latter of the two, and after being separated for years, you've reunited and now face an uncertain future...

Aunt May is in the hospital, maybe dying (those might be borrowed memories of her serving you wheat cakes every morning, but dammit, you can't help but love that woman). Your old foe Kaine has followed you back to New York, and now wants to kill you more than ever. The man you currently believe to be the original Peter Parker thinks you're still trying to replace him. Life isn't easy for self-named Ben Reilly (after Uncle Ben's first name and Aunt May's maiden name - clever, huh?), but then, for a clone, life never is.

It's weird to hate your creator. Without Professor Warren, aka The Jackal, you wouldn't exist, and yet the whole reason for your creation was to ruin the life of another. The guilt you feel for the part you nearly played in that deception still haunts you to this day. You won't be Jackal's pawn anymore. You want the real Peter Parker to live out his happily ever after, even if that real Peter Parker isn't you. And yet...there's a part of you, repressed deep down, that still clings to the hope that maybe, just maybe, you aren't the clone. Not because you want to ruin the life Peter's made for himself in the five years you've been gone, but just to...I dunno...Justify your existence? But, alas, your rational mind knows that to be wishful thinking. You are a clone, but that doesn't mean you can't be a hero.
The Scarlet Spider is Scarlet Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is for the real Spider-Man to win the game. You win if, when the game ends, the real Spider-Man has achieved his win condition.

Your Motivation is to find out who is the real Spider-Man. If you achieve your motivation, some or all of your Alignment, Win Condition, and abilities will change.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched (or, in your case, Exiled).
Adaptive Combatant (Activated; Day or Night): Choose a Condition. You are immune to the chosen Condition until you use this ability again (this effect does not end at the end of a Day or Night).

Blue Hoodie [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Scarlet Spider account. You may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Clone Business (Passive): You may talk with your ally, Dr. Seward Trainer, anytime by visiting his Lab. This ability continues to function as long as both of you are alive, whether or not either or both of you are Active or in Exile.

Impact Webbing (Activated; Day or Night): Target player is Roleblocked until the end of the Day/Night. If you hit a target player twice in a row across consecutive phases with this ability, they are also Voteblocked for the duration. If you hit a target player three or more times in a row across consecutive phases with this ability, they are also Voteblocked and Silenced for the duration.

New Warriors (Activated; Night; 2 Uses): Choose one:
+1 Use: Target player becomes Protected until the end of the Night.
-2 Uses: Return yourself to the Active Player pool from Exile. You may use this ability even if you are in Exile.
-5 Uses: Choose up to five players and assign a different Condition of your choice to each which lasts until the end of the following Day, or choose one player to cast into Exile.

Nomad (Passive): If you would be Lynched, you are cast into Exile instead.

Once a Spider... (Passive): You count as being Spider Aligned, in addition to your actual alignment. Investigations into your alignment turn up both results.

Stingers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. Players you are voting for with traditional votes are also afflicted by whichever Condition(s) you happen to be immune to until such time as you are no longer voting for them.

West Coast Avengers (Activated; Day): Choose an Exiled player. That player returns to the Active Player pool at the beginning of the following Day.
You may, or may not be, a clone of the original Spider-Man. At the start of the game, send the Mod a PM stating if you believe yourself to be a clone, or the tried and true original. Certain game mechanics will trigger based on if you are correct in your assertion or not. You may update this belief status whenever you like.

Congratulations! You ARE the real deal. The one, the only,

the Amazing Spider-Man!

Stan.jpg
Thwip.

You've achieved your Motivation. Your Alignment and Win Condition have changed. You've also gained some new abilities, and you no longer posses the Clone Subtype.
You are now Town Aligned.

Your Win Condition is to remove all threats to the Town. You win at the beginning of the Day if no threats to the Town exist in the Active Player pool.
This list of abilities completely replaces your old list of abilities:
Aerial Acrobatics (Passive): Whenever you use Escape Handcuffs (see Communal Abilities) you may also end one Condition afflicting you.

Great Power (Passive): You may use up to three different activated abilities each Day or Night.

Great Responsibility (Activated; Day or Night): All Town Aligned players become Protected until the end of the Day/Night, and your Threshold is permanently reduced by 1.

Here's Web in your Eye (Activated; Night): Target player's targeting abilities are redirected to a random legal target.

Indomitable Will (Activated; Night): Return to the Active Player pool from anywhere. As long as Mary Jane is alive, you may use this ability even in Exile or in Death.

Once a Spider... (Passive): You count as being Spider Aligned, in addition to your actual alignment. Investigations into your alignment turn up both results.

Spider-Man Costume [Item]: You may post in the game thread at any time using the Spider-Man account. You may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Spider Sense (Passive): You can only be targeted by Spider Aligned players.

Stan Lee's Spider-Man (Activated; Day or Night): Choose a player. If that player started the game as "Spider Aligned", you may look at their original Role PM.

Steve Ditko's Spider-Man (Passive): You may use activated abilities of Spider Aligned players as though you possessed those abilities.

Web Slinger (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game.
Your worst fears are true...

You are NOT Spider-Man! You are A CLONE!

I am the clone.jpg
Well, poop.

You've achieved your Motivation. Your Alignment, Win Condition, and Abilities will all change to reflect this new realization. But what will they change into?...

You are not Peter Parker. You never were. Your life up till now has been nothing but a lie, constructed by a madman, the Jackal, to destroy the life you thought was yours. This realization is devastating, but also somewhat liberating—no longer must you feel responsible for the people you thought you needed to be responsible for. Your life, such that it is, is yours now. As such, you've become self-deterministic in this game. Way I see it, you have two choices.

A ) You can join your creator in fulfilling the purpose he gave you life to fulfill. If you choose this option, you will become Mafia Aligned;

Or...

B ) You can abandon both sides in this feud between Jackals and Spiders, and branch out on your own. If you choose this option, you will become Self Aligned.

I'm not going to lie to you, there are significant challenges ahead in both directions, but at least now you know the truth. At least now your destiny is up to you. So, what will it be?

Choose A or B.
Welcome, to the Spider-Army!

Army of Spiders.jpg
You are now Mafia Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

The Jackal's Win Condition is to eliminate all Town Aligned and Spider Aligned players. You win at the beginning of the Day if no Town or Spider Aligned players exist in the Active player pool.
This list of abilities completely replaces your old list of abilities:
Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each even-numbered Day a six-sided die is rolled in secret. If the result rolled is a 6, you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

The Jackal's Lair (Passive): You can talk with your creator, the Jackal, at any time inside his secret lair (click here).

Web Slinger (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game.
You are now Self Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to survive to the end of the game. You win if, when the game ends, you are not dead.
This list of abilities completely replaces your old list of abilities:
Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each even-numbered Day a six-sided die is rolled in secret. If the result rolled is a 6, you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

Once a Spider... (Passive): You count as being Spider Aligned, in addition to your actual alignment. Investigations into your alignment turn up both results.

Web Slinger (Passive):[/B] This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game.
Congratulations!
You've been cured of your Clone Degeneration!

Kaine Cured.jpg
Better get used to looking "Peter Parker" good.

You've achieved your Motivation. Your Alignment and Win Condition have changed. You've also gained some new abilities but lost some others.
Scarlet2.jpg
Your old cover doesn't really suit you anymore...
Here's a new one!
Kaine is now Scarlet Aligned. You are not considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is for the real Spider-Man to win the game. You win if, when the game ends, the real Spider-Man has achieved his win condition.
This list of abilities completely replaces your old list of abilities:
Adaptive Combatant (Activated; Day or Night): Choose a Condition. You are immune to the chosen Condition until you use this ability again (this effect does not end at the end of a Day or Night).

Clone Business (Passive): You may talk with Ben Reilly, the other Scarlet Spider, at any time by visiting Doctor Seward Trainer's Lab (click here). This ability continues to function as long as you are alive, whether or not you are Active or in Exile.

Mark of Kaine (Activated; Day or Night): Target player is given the Mark of Kaine. This effect is permanent.
Mark of Kaine (Secret Condition)
Your Threshold is cut in half (rounded down).

New Scarlet Spider (Passive): With Ben MIA, you take up the mantle of the New Scarlet Spider in his place! You can now post in the game thread at any time using the Scarlet Spider account, and you can cast Bonus votes using it. Don't worry, no stupid blue hoodie will be involved.

Nomad (Passive): If you would be Lynched, you are cast into Exile instead. If a player with the Mark of Kaine dies while you are in Exile, you return to the Active player pool.

Once a Spider... (Passive): You count as being Spider Aligned, in addition to your actual alignment. Investigations into your alignment turn up both results.

Stealth Suit Tech [Item]: Whenever you are Tracking a player (see "Big Lebowski" under communal abilities), you also learn if that player has been in private communication with anyone outside the game thread.

Talk to Spiders (Activated; Night): You learn how many Targeting abilities are used in total this Night, as well as the names of players who used them and the names of players who were Targeted by them (one list, no disambiguation between users and Targets).

The Other (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Become the receptacle for the spider totem "The Other". This has unknown side effects. Probably a "hail marry" ability not to be used lightly.

Wrist Spikes (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. Your traditional votes are each worth two standard votes.

Fake "Traveller Illusions" Stuff:
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...
Joe Wade.jpg
Joseph "Joe" Wade
a.k.a.

THE SECOND SCARLET SPIDER
A Nightmare in Scarlet Indeed!

Oh boy. I bet you'd have prefered to roll Ben Reilly or even Kaine over this freakshow... But oh well. At least you got your wish and landed one of the Scarlet Spiders!
Joe freaking Wade, the only character to operate as a villain under the Scarlet Spider name (Kaine doesn't count because he doesn't use the Scarlet Spider name until after his villainous ways are behind him). You were an FBI agent once, and a damn good one. Too good for your own good in fact. Assigned to investigate Doctor Carolyn Trainer—the woman who would later become the second Doctor Octopus (copycats were all the rage in the '90s)—your skills as an investigator lead you right to her "lair" where you were caught by the sinister genius. Instead of killing you, she decided to use you in her war against the Scarlet Spider, by turning you into him! She used hard-light holograms to create a sinister knockoff Scarlet Sider body and forced your mind to inhabit it through her cybernetic control device. It is quite a painful experience, I'm afraid...

Sucks to be Joe.jpg
The real you...
Is that blood leaking from under the helmet?

At first, you were forced to do her bidding, but you've since broken free of her mind control. Still, she could pull the plug on your life support at any minute, so you are still stuck doing her dirty work... At least, until such time as she leaves you an opening to have your revenge! Until then, you'll bide your time, waiting for Joe Wade's Scarlet Spider to strike with deadly precision!

Scarlet 2.jpg
He has Freaking Lazer Beams for eyes, Man!
The Second Scarlet Spider is Self Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to kill the player of Lady Octopus' choosing. You win if, when the game ends, you have killed the player chosen by Lady Octopus. Lady Octopus can change who her "chosen player" is as an activated ability, even after you have already killed the player in question (thus, revoking your achieved win until you kill again).

Your Motivation is to be free from under Lady Octopus' thumb, achievable only if she is dead and you are not. If you achieve your motivation, your Alignment will become Scarlet Aligned, your win condition will change to match your new alignment, and you will no longer be a Threat to the Town.
Your Threshold is Majority. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 6 votes to see you Lynched.
Adaptive Combatant (Activated; Day or Night): Choose a Condition. You are immune to the chosen Condition until you use this ability again (this effect does not end at the end of a Day or Night).

Freaking Lazer Beams (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to cast votes as normal for a Mafia game. Players you are voting for with traditional votes are also afflicted by whichever condition you are immune to for as long as you are voting them, and if a player you are voting for is lynched, they are burnt to a crisp and their character details aren't revealed upon death.

Holo-Projector [Item]: You aren't really in the game thread. The appearance of you is just a hard-light hologram being controlled remotely from Lady Octopus' secret lab. As long as you possess this item, you can return yourself to the Active player pool from Exile or even Death at the beginning of each Day. This item can't be stolen, but it can be unplugged (discarded) by Lady Octopus.

Legacy of Terror (Passive): You may talk to Doctor Carolyn Trainer, a.k.a. Lady Octopus, at any time in her secret lab (Click here).

Nightmare in Scarlet (Activated; Day or Night): Kill target player. After you use this ability it takes two full Days to recharge.

The Scarlet Spiders (Passive): You may talk with Ben Reilly, the First Scarlet Spider, at any time thanks to the fact that Lady Octopus has hacked into her father's lab where the Scarlets meet to plan (Click here). At some point, Kaine, the Third Scarlet Spider, might join you, if he achieves his motivation; then you'll all be one big happy Scarlet Spider family! This ability continues to function as long as you are alive, whether or not you are Active or in Exile.
Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...

Gaunt [Item]: You control a cybernetic killing machine known only as Gaunt. At one point in time, Gaunt was a man named Mendel Stromm who worked for Norman Osborn, but his cybernetic enhancements proved to be his undoing. You hacked into his software and reprogramed him for your use. At any time, Day or Night, you may have Gaunt publicly kill a Target player. After you use Gaunt in this way he must recharge, and you cannot use him again for 1d6 phases (so, if a 6 were rolled, it would take 3 Days and 3 Nights to recharge him).

Genius-Level Intellect (Activated; Day or Night; 1 Use): Divert all your technological resources and genius mind toward the task of uncovering another player's deepest secrets. When you activate this ability, choose Hacking or Theft and Target a player; if you chose Hacking, you'll receive a complete chat log of up to one random discord channel they presently have access to; if you chose Theft, steal a random non-costume item from them.

Legacy of Terror (Passive): You've kidnapped an FBI agent who was investigating you named Joseph Wade after he got too close and forced him to become your personal killing machine. His disembodied mind controls your hard-light "Scarlet Spider" hologram, while you control the kill switch on his physical body to keep him in line. It's a good thing too, cuz his Motivation is to kill you! Until he does, though, his win condition is to do your bidding (see "Scarlet Nightmare" below). If he ever becomes more trouble than he's worth, you can choose to "pull the plug" on his life support (not an action), forcing him to discard the item that allows him to continually bring himself back from Exile and even Death—effectively, making him mortal. Until you do, you can talk to him in your secret lair at any time (click here).

Mistaken Identity (Passive; Arms): As long as you have at least two arms available (see "Cybernetic Tentacles"), anyone who tries to take your picture or determine your character's identity through investigation might mistake you for the wrong Doc Ock! This might seem like a pointless power, but it can create some interesting interactions if the right players think you're the wrong character...

Each vote you place on him will increase his threshold by 1 until you remove the vote (thus, rendering your votes against him meaningless).

Scarlet Nightmare (Activated; Night): Choose a player in the Active player pool. Joe Wade's win condition changes to "Kill <the chosen player>". You can still activate this ability after he has achieved his "win condition", effectively robbing him of his already obtained win until he kills again.

You are...
jackal.jpg
THE JACKAL REBORN!
Who needs a green costume when you can just genetically
engineer a freakshow body that looks like that!

You've been living in a secret lair (nobody knew you were alive), waiting, biding your time, building an army of clones as you planned your ultimate revenge. You have a new body, stronger than ever before and genetically engineered to be the Jackal you've always pretended to be. No more Miles Warren behind a mask. You are the Jackal now, and you will have your revenge!

The revelation of who is the true Peter Parker! And boy will the uncertainty of that question confuse and confound your opponents until it is too late.

The trap has been set. All that's left to do is spring it.

View attachment 44326
Time to get to work, these Spider-Men won't destroy themselves
The Jackal Reborn is Self Aligned. You are considered a Threat to the Town.

Your Win Condition is to kill everyone—EVERYONE! That's right, you're a good-old-fashioned classic Mafia Game Serial Killer!! You win at the beginning of the Day if you are the only living player left in the game; everyone else must be dead (not exiled; dead).

But what about Gwen?

Kill her!

But...

She dies! You can always make more clones later—after your revenge is complete—but for right now she'll just get in your way! They all must die! Town, Mafia, Spiders, Goblins, Selfs, and even Gwen and other clones of You! All must die!

Well, okay then...

Your Motivation is to fool everyone that a clone is the real Spider-Man. To do this, a single false Spider Aligned player must have flipped Town, while all other Spider Aligned players (including the one true Spider-Man—see "Nemesis of Spider-Man" under Abilities below) have flipped Self or Mafia. If you achieve your motivation, you will unlock your unrestricted killing ability.
Your Threshold is Majority + 3. A Majority is defined as being half the number of available votes (rounded down) plus one, so if there are 10 available votes it would take 9 votes to see you Lynched.
Collect Blood Sample (Activated; Night): Collect a blood sample from Target player (see "Master Cloner" below). If that player was Roleblocked when you activated this ability, you may also peek at their Role PM.

False Hope (Passive): There is no cure for the clone degeneration process. The existence of one is all a lie meant to motivate your slowly dying legion to continue providing you with free labor until the moment they finally croak. Of course, since some players have "Cures" in their Role PMs, which we all know must be infallibly true according to the the rules of the game, we'll just say that this passive ability prevents the "cure" abilities of other players from working as long as you're alive. Sound fair? Well, no, it's not fair, but that's kind of the point. Hahaha.

Lure into a Trap (Activated; Day): Target exiled player is returned to the Active player pool.

Killer Combo (Activated; Restricted; Day or Night): Kill Target player with the Clone Degeneration ability. If you've achieved your Motivation, this ability becomes Unrestricted, and the yellow text is removed from the ability effect line.

Master Cloner (Activated; Night): Choose any player (active, exiled, or dead) that you have previously collected a blood sample from (see "Collect Blood Sample" above). The chosen player is moved to the active player pool from anywhere and gains the clone subtype and the Clone Degeneration ability if they do not have it already. If they were Spider Aligned, they are now Mafia Aligned.
Clone Degeneration (Passive): At the beginning of each even-numbered Day a six-sided die is rolled in secret. On a 6 you die. This ability continues to function even if you are in Exile.

Nemesis of Spider-Man (Passive): You, and you alone, know that the one true Spider-Man is [XXXXXXX], but you'll be damned if you let anybody else know that juicy piece of quintessential lore. Once during each Day, you may choose a player. If that player is Spider Aligned, all evidence points to them as being the true Spider-Man (well, all except for one single 1-shot power, that is)!! Also, if anyone ever peeks at your Role PM, the name of your nemesis will be redacted.

Regeneration Pod [Item]: The first time you would die in the game, you don't, and this item is discarded.

Smoke and Mirrors (Passive): You know that Spiritual Mask Salesman is your clone and that he is both Town and Mafia Aligned. Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense. Look, he's just very confused as to his priorities between the Mafia team, and one of the Town Gwen clones—probably why he needs to die eventually. Heck, they both do. Good thing they both start the game with Clone Degeneration. Hehehe.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.

The Big Red Button [Item; 1 Use]: A big red button to "flush" the current batch and start anew. Once during the game, at any time, you can "press" the big red button to discard it (not an action), and all active or exiled players with the Clone Degeneration ability are killed instantly. Should make for a great big messy finisher. I bet the other players will be mad. Oops?

The Jackal's Revenge (Passive): You may post in the game thread at any time using The Jackal account, and you may also cast Bonus votes using this account.

Welcome to The Clone Saga: A Spider-Man Mafia 3.
You are...
/img broke—it's the same as the real one

Another of you is also here, but he is tasked with keeping tabs on another cosmic being called Traveller. Judas Traveller is a centuries-old cosmic entity of immense power. He may have been human once, but he's evolved to become something so much more. Traveller is nearly an all-powerful cosmic being, on the order of scale comparable to the Sorcerer Supreme, or even Scrier himself. One who wields such power must be carefully watched. Traveller is not a member of your order yet, but if he could be swayed into helping you... If he could be made to join the Brotherhood of Scrier... He'd have the power and support needed to replace Osborn as your leader!

The stage is set, the players are ready. Go forth into the world, Scrier, and build a monument to his will—one that will make the Spider-Man fall!

Your Motivation is to get Judas Traveller to usurp Norman Osborn as the leader of your cult. This can be done if Traveler makes you a member of his Host, a group of loyal followers he has amassed in his travels. If you achieve your motivation, you'll become Traveller Aligned, gaining whichever win condition goes with the enigmatic alignment at present.

Cryptic Messenger (Activated; Night): Send a message to the Mod which will be forwarded in full to the player of your choice. They may reply with a single message of their own.

Eyes Everywhere (Activated; Night): Choose a player. As long as that player is not Judas Traveler or Norman Osborn, you may peek at their Role PM.

Goblin Games (Passive): As long as you are Goblin Aligned, you may communicate with the leader of your cult, Norman Osborn, anytime inside his secret lair by clicking here.

Grow the Cabal (Activated; Night; 1 Use): Target player is invited to join the cult of Scrier, replacing their role with an exact copy of yours (minus this ability) upon acceptance. The player receives whichever alignment you possess (Goblin or Traveller) at the time you use this ability.

You may not activate this ability without your Leader's express permission in advance (your leader is Norman or Judas, depending on your alignment).

As long as the current Leader of your cult is still alive (either Norman or Judas, depending), if you die or are sent into exile, you return to the Active player pool at the start of the following Day.

Strength in Numbers (Passive): This is your traditional voting power which allows you to vote as normal for a Mafia game.
