Phi as revealed at E3 will be our constant companion throughout the game much like midna and navi.
I have a few questions theory based that I would like some insight into:
A) why is it that our guides/guardians/helpers are always allowed vocals where as for the most part the protagonist and the antagonist lack that ability?
My Views: They don't want to crush high expectations about well that's not what link should sound like to me(the player)
 How does phi become the master sword? Does she sacrifice herself in a selfless act and become the master sword or is there more to it?
C) How often would be too often for phi to give playing hints such as (Link I think we should head west to such and such a place)
D) is Phi a goddesses servant and why would the "whale" in the trailer be linked to her or the goddesses?
E) With the exception of tatl and ezlo why are all our helpers female? I'm not a sexist just curious why nintendo would choose the female guardian route?

Tatl is a female. Tael is the brother, Tatl is the sister.

I don't know about all the others and I don't know exactly how Phi will become the Master Sword, but it's quite easy to say that she will transform along with the Skyward Sword, causing the blade to take on her characteristics in blade form.

A.) Actually, a lot of Zelda characters have voice work, including Link. No character has voiced dialogue only, though -- if they do speak, they speak with text boxes.
B.) We don't know that yet. You'd have to play the game to find out! :)
C.) So far, Phi only appears to Link when she's explaining a new item, or if Link is low on health. This is different than past helpers because you could call on them at any time, but Phi's help is limited.
D.) Phi is a servant of a Goddess, yes. We just don't know which one. The whale that swallowed Zelda was mentioned to be the servant of a Goddess by Ghirahim.
E.) Tatl is female. Phi was actually never confirmed as female; the developers actually just called her a "feminine figure." But anyway, it's probably to include more variety in the game's cast or something. Link is male, so placing in a female helper would balance the two. :)

I like that link does not speak. When you see link you can make him out to be what you want him to be. Every different player can have their own different link in their mind!
