That Was Quick

I just finished Hero Mode (as in the credits are rolling as i type this) and, granted it was my second play through, but i finished Hero Mode much quicker than the first run. it took around 48 hours to do the first one over about a month. Hero Mode took about 6 weeks so, due to the time it's taken i wasn't able to remember exactly what to do for each stage so had to work out a lot it again (the sand ship was FAR easier this time. couldn't remember how to get the 2 power thingies but figured it out much quicker) but my total play time was around 76 hours before fighting Demise (EDIT: the post Demise-pre Demise save has play time as 76:50). i also got more this time than last time, i got 3 bottles last time, all 5 this time, missed some goddess cubes (credits have stopped) last time, got them all this time, and got more hearts this time. didn't get the Hylian shield either time.

even if you include the times i had to retry due to dying, i still would not be anywhere near the play time of the last run. did anyone else find this?

It took me forever to get oriented in Skyward Sword. I'm so much used to the simple, open fields like in Ocarina of Time, but some points in SS perplexed me because of how different the layout was. This contributed largely to the amount of my initial play-time. But as I continued through the game, I developed a greater sense of placement for each area. When I go through Hero's Mode next--or simply start anew--the time will decrease dramatically since I can now recall almost every path thanks to special landmarks I used to prompt my memory.

It was the controls that did that to me more than anything. I got used to the overworld pretty much instantly. As far as the controls and combat went, though, I had to re-learn Zelda in many ways.

Yes I experienced this as well. Hero Mode took me about 2/3 of the time that the first playthrough took and I did much more side-content as well. Maybe skipping cutscenes factors into this slightly. Now my third playthrough is a speed run, and I'm at the Lanayru Silent Realm in around 7 hours.

It has been the case for me throughout zelda. a second time through or a second quest is much faster. TP for instance. 48 hours the first time. second time was around 18 hours.
SS I cut my time less, but there has always been a difference. In SS I had to get used to the controls first, then the new styling and layout was a bit disorienting, so the first time took me longer.
