According to the Direct that just finished, MEWTWO WILL BE A DOWNLOADABLE CHARACTER NEXT YEAR IF YOU BUY BOTH VERSIONS OF THE GAME.

I hope there will be a way to get Mewtwo without having to buy both games

It only said that people who own both versions will get mewtwo for free. Does not mean thats its exclusive to people who have both versions.

So...with more DLC characters likely, who else would you guys potentially like to see included in the future? I'd appreciate if Ice Climbers, Wolf, and Lucas returned.

I heard Ice Climbers was cut because of 3DS limitations so, sadly, we will probably not get Ice Climbers this generation.

I honestly want to see Roy, Young Link, and the other Kanto starters. I don't think that will happen, but those are the only characters I want to come back.

This does not mean there will or will not be a paid DLC for Mewtwo for those who do not own a 3DS and WiiU. Nintendo has not said either way. I think Nintendo really need to speak on this subject. If the character is only for those with both versions of the game, a lot of people will be very salty indeed.

Fire Emblem Roy.

Oh, exactly. meaning the possibility that its paid DLC is still there. Besides the whole getting it for free it temporarely. Like getting a free game with MK8 or getting Ganondorf skins for Hyrule Warriors. Its a promotion.

Here's the settings menu for Rules. Comical pictures appear on the left when you go through the options, so I'll briefly introduce them.

zlCfzSkIxkkXDWJ8Kr

Going clockwise from the top-left corner, here are the pictures that appear for Rules, Time Limit, Custom Fighters, Stage Choice, Damage Ratio, and Handicap.

zlCfzSkIye8EgM40Qj

In the Wii U version, you can customize additional rules from the beginning of the game. Here are the pictures displayed for Stock Time Limit, Team Attack, Pause Function, SD Penalty, Damage Display, and Score Display. You can almost hear Fox's cry in the picture displayed for SD Penalty settings.

All these options existed in previous games (except Custom Fighters obviously), but the second screen of additional rules no longer needs to be unlocked. In the 3DS version, this was done by achieving 200 KOs in the save file.

The trophies from the Xenoblade series can be found mostly in the Wii U version. Here's Melia looking the other way.

Here the Trophy Photo Studio is put to use. It is more expansive compared to the similar Diorama mode in Brawl, with options to scale trophies properly and move them vertically on the Y plane.

Here's what's happening behind the scenes in one of the secret fighter's shooting moves. The object being held is called an NES Zapper. This is an accessory which was released for the NES outside of Japan. Now, this image is edited, but it's a scene from the secret fighter's reveal video.

This is the first and only official acknowledgement of the Duck Hunt Duo character so far, who is the last remaining newcomer yet to receive a page on the official website. After Bowser Jr.'s trailer and page being revealed on the Friday, this means there is just this one new trailer to be shown, provided no spanners are thrown into the works...

The giant screen in the Boxing Ring stage for Wii U reenacts the multiscreen effect seen in the arcade version of Punch-Out!! Looks like their aliases are displayed on the screen too.

By the way, today, October 23rd at 3 PM PST (October 23rd 11 PM UK time, October 24th 9 AM Sydney Time, we are streaming "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”). You can watch the stream from the links below when it starts.
For Americas: http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct/10-23-2014/
For Europe: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Misc-/Nint...ct-698557.html
For Oceania: http://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendodirect

Before this screen would only show a video feed of the current view, like the Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 stages in Melee and Brawl. Similarly, it has the current match score and such on display as well.

At long last, the Wii U version supports eight-player multiplayer!! It gets pretty hectic watching eight people duke it out at once. For more details, check out "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”).

And here's a stage prepared for a large number of fighters, Big Battlefield!! Fighters can spread out, so it should be easier battling on a stage like this.

The original eight can all fit on-screen together in this special new mode. In addition to both these editions of Battlefield, many large stages can be played with eight players, including more when put into Omega form.

Looking at the official website, there are several new pages. Of course, newcomer Bowser Jr. has his page, and so does veteran Mr. Game & Watch. In the How to Play section, there is now information on just some of the features and modes explained in the presentation, now being Smash, 8-Player Smash, Controllers, Events and My Music.

Most notable of all the new content shown is regarding stages; many new ones were announced, including retro stages from all previous games in the series. New stages revealed in the presentation were Big Battlefield, Mario Circuit (from Mario Kart 8), Jungle Hijinxs, the Great Cave Offensive (which was hinted at on an official Facebook account earlier this month), Wrecking Crew, Wuhu Island and a Yoshi Woolly World stage. Also, after launch, a Miiverse stage will be available.

From Brawl, there is Delfino Plaza, Mario Circuit, Luigi's Mansion, Bridge of Eldin, Norfair, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon Stadium 2, Port Town Aero Dive, Skyworld and 75m. From Melee, Yoshi's Island and Temple were shown to be coming back, the latter of which was teased in a daily pic earlier this week. Finally, Kongo Jungle from Smash Brothers 64 can be seen on the stage selection screen.

A few hundred new screenshots of all of the new stuff has been released and you can view them in two imgur galleries here and here. Alternatively, view a portion of them here on minus or here on flickr.

The color variations for Shulk are all based off outfit colors of his travel companions... excluding one of them. Lucina's color variations are also based off the female characters in Fire Emblem Awakening.

With the increase of colour schemes characters have, plenty have inspirations such as these to reach the numbers.

Stamina-based, Mega-sized with the Bunny Hood, Back Shield with Reflect, Lightweight, Slow, Angled Smash.

Special Smash is a returning mode from Brawl, titled differently. It has expanded the options with the addition of new elements such as Tail and Rocket Belt for the body, though is more or less the same.

Classic mode in the Wii U version is set up like a battle coliseum with multiple fighters teamed up with each other. Move your trophy and join in anywhere you want. You can see faint images of stages on the platform--the number of fighters clustered on those images indicates the number of fighters you'll face. As you can see, this feature leverages the fact that the game supports multiplayer with up to eight players.

zlCfzSmHkO0I9aDAd0

After each battle, the fighters that lost get blown away!! The fighters remaining on the field will once again team up with other fighters on the field. You can actually choose fighters you've blown away to join your team in team battles. A rival will always appear in this mode, and the longer that character survives, the stronger it will get.

Classic mode is not so classic. It keeps the non-linear style of the 3DS edition of the mode, but is even more open.

In Stage Builder, you can draw lines on your Wii U GamePad to create stages!! It might not be the easiest stage to battle on, but you can even make stages like this one.

For more details on how this works, check out "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things).
For Americas: http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct/10-23-2014/
For Europe: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Misc-/Nintendo-Direct/Latest-Nintendo-Direct/Nintendo-Direct-698557.html
For Oceania: http://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendodirect

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 50-Fact Extravaganza

The Stage Builder is greatly expanded from its appearance in Brawl, not only due to the freedom of drawing lines, but more backgrounds to choose from and objects to insert.

In Famitsu, Sakurai has used his column to reflect on the workload for the latest games. You can read an article on Nintendo Everything here:

Sakurai reflects on the huge amount of work needed to make Smash Bros. a reality

Also, some great news for users in Europe and Oceania. As announced on Twitter, the release date of the Wii U version has been pushed forward an entire week earlier to the end of November instead of the beginning of December. You can read the news (with sources) on Reddit here.

Not sure if the game guide will be a released a week earlier as well. I think we will have to wait and see on this.

Also finally, no word if the Japanese release will be brought forward a week or not. Lets hope it is too for the Jap fans as well.

Here's the main menu of the Wii U Version. Colorful silhouettes of various fighters stream in the background. It looks sparkly.

The icons and shapes on the main menu are similar to that on 3DS. The submenus themselves are the same except Smash Tour is in place of Smash Run and the 3DS Section (which is used to connect to that version) replaces the Wii U section. Tips are also on the main menu instead of the Vault.

Here's the Fiend's Scale in Classic mode. When you raise the intensity in the 3DS version, the effects looked similar to a picture book. However, for the Wii U version, as you raise your intensity it looks like you're falling deeper into the underworld. The very bottom looks ferocious.

zlCfzSnhYGsY2-Eatx

The field in Classic mode has five different backgrounds determined by the intensity level. On low intensity, the background looks peaceful, but on high intensity, the atmosphere gets pretty intimidating.

The underworld looks like subspace. Ferocious indeed...

Jackpot Opportunity is one of the Events in single-player mode where you aim to collect 1,000 Gold to pay off your loan. This scenario uses Coin Battle rules.

zlCfzSntMfI8gIG4WK

It's Past Your Bedtime sets up another predetermined situation for a single-player Event. In this one, Jigglypuff needs to put every fighter to sleep at the same time. There are quite a few scenarios like this that aren't simply brawls.

Events were not in the 3DS version, but return in the Wii U version, revamped for their appearance in Melee and Brawl. Both of these simple goals are similar to some past events, but there will surely be plenty of unique concepts, especially with the great amount of new characters, stages and modes to work with.

Here's something we didn't even announce in "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza"(“ Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”)--a stage from Yoshi's Woolly World. This stage was added and developed quite near the end of development. The surfaces are soft and cushiony.

zlCfzSn4WtQZh-J9O2

The mobiles are placed in different locations depending on the situation, and they tilt according to weight distribution. The stage also gets rearranged, so the ground may disappear temporarily during a remodel.

The stage icon could be spotted in some stage selection and My Music mode screenshots, but we did not get good sight of it until press footage released; it was playable in exclusive demos the time of the 50-Fact Extravaganza. This stage marks the first time a future-release game will get one.

Here's a new stage, Wuhu Island. Flying around Wuhu Island may remind you of the Pilot Wings stage, but this time we tour famous locations on the island.

zlCfzSoDC6E4DlXUkI

For example, here's the starting line of a power-cruising race. You may also find yourself at a mountain summit, in front of a fountain, on a suspension bridge, in a fighting arena, or riding on a boat. The stage really feels like a resort vacation.

zlCfzSoDC9QxDu0L4B

I've been so busy with developing this game that I dreamed about tropical islands every time I saw this stage. …Beaches in the summer are great, aren't they?

A new travelling stage set in the same location as Pilot Wings. It is very similar to Delfino Island in particular (which is a returning stage) due to the partly beach-like setting and swimming areas.

Revealed in the most recent Nintendo Direct was newcomer Duck Hunt Duo, and its page is on the secret fighter section of the official site now, consisting of its character render, trailer, promotional artwork and 10 screenshots. Longtime veteran Jigglypuff is there too, finally.

Four new 3DS themes are being released in Japan. No word on them internationally yet, but you can see video in the link to Nintendo Everything above.
