Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

Well Zelda seems to be the perfect series for a newcomer seeing as it is one of Nintendo's flagship titles, they seem to have upped the fire emblem characters a lot this time and considering it is not as popular as Zelda outside of Japan you'd think they might have another Zelda newcomer. As for why Ghirahim is the most logical choice, do I even need to say? He is loved and has been since before even the release of SS when he was known simply as fabulous Debbie, he was highly requested by fans for Smash and he is also a villain, something this iteration of Smash severely needs, seeing as Bowser is the ONLY real villain in the game right now.

This is what makes no sense to me. Along with Mario & Pokemon, Zelda's a very popular series (outside of Japan, at least), but it can't have a new character to the Smash roster while an unpopular series like Fire Emblem (again, only outside of Japan) gets more new characters despite still not being well-known. It's like if there aren't any new Pokemon characters in Smash 4, but instead they have new characters for the Legendary Starfy despite not being all that popular in the West.

I get they want to appeal to the Japanese fanbase, but at least give Zelda some recognition. :/

I'm highly skeptical of this. Shulk behaved scarily similar to Marth, and that Ganondorf was borderline identical to Project M's. And, really, Bowser Jr. fighting in a ship? That's absurd even for Smash's standards.

We also didn't get any footage of the Duck Hunt dog, Dr. Mario, and Dark Pit despite this footage clearly trying to prove the leak with them true -- and we all know that leak was a fake.

My 3DS' R (and to some extent L) buttons have stopped working, so I can only really play pokémon and Monster Hunter (or anything else that uses the CPP). Lucky for me I'm getting paid soon, my birthday is coming up and I live in the UK so that Smash Bros 3DSxl is mine! MWAHAHAHA

An overwhelming amount of leaked pictures have been revealed, allegedly by the same leaker who supposedly gave us a picture of the semi-full roster a few days ago. Warning: there's quite a few spoilers in here.

I have to say, I'm getting to where I believe that the leak is more than likely to be true at this point, especially with those videos that were already mentioned. It's really no surprise though, anyone who kept up with the pre-release of Pokemon X and Y knows this kind of thing happens for mega-popular games quite quickly.

I don't agree with any of that in the slightest. I also don't think you give enough credit to Fire Emblem as a series. Zelda was graced early on with four newcomers in Melee, and while it's true two of them were clones at the time and most aren't particularly outstanding in any of the Smash Brothers games (Hyrule Tier anybody? :bleh:), the point still stands. I don't believe I'll ever be able to have a serious talk about Zelda characters on a Zelda fansite. Consider this discussion over.

This is without a doubt the most convincing leak so far now, for the sole reason it's actual video.

I've been extremely quiet about this leak since it came about, like I am with all "leaks". All I've expressed of it so far was a passing comment a few days ago about how I'm not a fan of the idea of Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. being playable. I stand by that, although Dr. Mario and Dark Pit could be costumes and I'd have zero complaints. Putting them as their own slot is not wise, I believe.

Jumping back onto the video, I do have to say it remains extremely sketchy, and that if paired with the screenshots, I'd have a large number of criticisms towards the character select screen and stage select if they were to remain the way they are.

If you haven't got enough of these leaks yet, here's a few dozen more screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/PzeCw

Bowser Jr. as a playable character makes my jimmies rustle.

On the bright note, at least Shulk is in. (If it's real, anyway)

Hey, guys. You gotta love how Lucina isn't wearing anything red in that footage despite being on Red Team.

Yeah, Master Hand is totally going to have an outline on his CGI character model unlike literally everyone else. /sarcasm

Did the creator even TRY with this one?

I hope that this is fake. Ganondorf being a clone again would be a big kick in the nuts. They are not adding any brand new Zelda characters, I am sure now that Ghirahim is an assist, they could at least give the dorf his own moves.
Shulk is cool and I want him in but he seems like a marth clone, you can make clones when the game comes out when you mod it, there is no need for clones. Why would Bowser Jr ride in a hovercraft, we might as well have Dr Eggman in his chair as well if they are going to do that.
This 'leak' being true would be bad news, the fact that shulk and Ganondorf look like clones is bad enough and then there are the hideous menu designs, sakurai makes good aesthetically pleasing menus, this is not like him at all. I don't even know who duck hunt dog is so its not like a big reveal or anything to me.

Anyway I'm saying it's BS until there is proof from sakurai himself.

From what we've seen of Bowser Jr so far, I think I'm starting to understand why he was considered as a potential newcomer/put in over others. A constantly floating character like Jr in the clown car lends itself to some new gameplay quirks, and I like how the footage depicted the car itself having some attacks, like using its tongue to lash out at others. Still not too happy that he was chosen over other potential newcomers, but if the goal is to have as many different gameplay styles as possible, I can see why they acted on the opportunity.

I'm still kind of hoping Dark Link isn't a thing, Kid Icarus is hardly deserving of two new spots, newcomer or not. I'm not one to cry that Sakurai is biased, but it seems like he certainly does somewhat favor the franchises he's worked on, which is understandable I suppose.

It's not ogre till it's ogre.
Yes it was graced with four newcomers in Melee, but is it really any surprise considering OOT which its characters were taken from was one of the best selling games of its time and is still the most critically acclaimed? Fire emblem really does not even hold a candle to the sales figures of the big Zelda titles. This is not me being a Zelda fanboy, it's just the truth.
Zelda is FAR more popular and known by more people than fire emblem. There are few people who have never even hard of Zelda despite the fact they may not have played it.
