Jayla had ducked behind one of the bucks and it had taken her several minutes of trading fire to put down the two soldiers chasing her with the rifle. A number she was acutely aware of given the fact she knew it would only have been a few moments if she could use her lightsaber. She glanced back to see that the others had once again scurried off leaving her behind. This, she supposed, was why Jedi preferred working in pairs of two. Less opportunity for miscommunication or getting left behind. Still, no use crying over spilled milk. She darted out past the two dead bodies she'd just put down right as the soldiers busted into the room behind her. She was back to climbing through vents, this time upwards. She'd just have to hope that the others knew what they were doing.
She climbed out covered in dust, ashes, and webs. Empire or no empire, they didn't clean those vents very often. She felt a dark chill run down her spine and turned to look down the long hallway to see the dark figure, almost like the monsters they'd always been taught not to fear, clearly missing an arm, striding towards her with soldiers behind. She'd never felt so frozen with fear in that moment. She'd seen the vids. Younglings. He'd murdered children. She remembered him from several missions, he had been arrogant an upstart like herself and they'd gotten on well more or less.
She snapped to just in time to halt a bolt with the force and send it careening back at the guard. No use hiding in the force once you've been spotted. It was probably just her imagination, but it seemed momentarily to impress Vader. With that, she took off running again away from them glancing left and right with great terror for another way up and finding doors closing as they'd finally begun to seal the area up. With no choice left, she summoned her lightsaber into her hand and carved a neat hole into a sealed vent once again ascending upwards towards the roof they'd come in on. She could only hear her heart beating as she put her lightsaber back in the thigh holster and kicked open yet another garbage chute.
She rounded a corner knowing that a ladder to the roof was in sight only to feel that sense of dread again. She turned to see that clearly, he'd anticipated her plans quite well. The door slid open to reveal less troopers, but the same dark figure striding towards her. They both glanced at the ladder at the same time and a moment later she was watching him rip it out of the wall. She felt a sense of hopelessness then. She couldn't cut the door behind her open and the hatch was too far even for a force aided jump. It was time to play the last card she had sitting. With a press at her comm, she set the small charge she'd had attached to the secondary generator. The lights flickered again and the door behind her slid open momentarily allowing her to dive through and only receive a fairly painful blaster shot to the shoulder. It was then she heard Chandra asking for her as the other two rounded upon her. She held her shoulder, "Right here. We better get out of here."
