Obviously fans are disappointed but understanding given the situation around the world.
So should Sony make the most of the situation and make The Last of Us Part II a same day release as a PS5 launch game and still launching on the original promised system of PS4? This would be similar to what Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild launching alongside the Switch while still releasing on the Wii U on the same day.
I think Sony should do so. Their PS5 plans are still very much under wraps. Having a big launch game would inspire more confidence in buyers. It would also help combat Microsoft's Halo Infinite, which is slated to be the big launch game for the Xbox Series X and will definitely sway some people in the direction of Xbox this holiday season (assuming neither console is delayed).
