Saddest Zelda Song

Pen

The game is on!
Well, the sadest Zeld song in my opinion is actually the Dragon Roost Island theme from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. That song isn't really a sad one, but I feel so extremely nostalgic every time I hear it, do it does get sad...

i think that "Memories of Impaz" from twilight princess is sad because it plays when the old lady talks about her past and how shes not allowed to leave the village without Link |:(|

The Song of Healing... I learned to play that on the piano while at my grandmother's house while we were all waiting for my sick cousin to pass away. It's kind of weird how the music did, in a way, heal. It was comforting for me to play it. I cannot give enough credit to Koji Kondo, that is an amazing piece of music.

The Final Hours from Majora's Mask is another very powerful piece, it's not just hopeless, but it gives a sense of accepting that hopelessness.

The Legendary Hero, the opening of The Wind Waker, it makes me cry every time ;.; you don't need the words on the screen to hear the story in the song.

The Ghost's House from Link's Awakening, it's very touching, and even though I didn't play Link's Awakening as a kid, the music feels nostalgic, just like the ghost says.

These each effect me in different ways, but they are all sad.

I think the saddest song would be Ballad of Wind Fish (the tune Marin sings). In retrospect after beating the game, thinking of Marin makes me want to cry. Bleed my heart out then cry.

Has anyone listened to Eponas' song in full, That song is the saddest loneliest thing I've ever heard. I mean its a girl who has no-one but the horses she tends too.

Just listen to it!! Whenever i do i get a great image of a girl's song when shes surrounded by her friends(in this case horses) but at the very end she realizes how alone she is)

unrelated state but this is why i think people should listen to more instrumentals, When you understand a full compelling story without any need for linguistics then you are truly vulnerable to its impact.

I find the Elegy of Emptiness to be a sad LoZ song. And also the Song of Healing but omly when inside the Clock tower or listening to the flashbacks of the Goron and the Zora.

Zelda's Lullaby for me. Its flow is so tranquil that my heart is moved every time, and I slink into a saddened state. I'm glad they used it for Skyloft's theme in Skyward Sword, even if it is reversed.

ballad of the wind fish: the entire game was depressing for me, even if i did just watch it, but this song makes everything even more sad.
song of healing: usually this is played when someone dies or is dead and then you have to do what they couldn't do in life.
chamber of the sages: especially with saria and darunia, can't quite explain it though

Oh, there are so many sad songs in the series, I don't know where to start. Most of them were already mentioned here:
- Song of Healing (MM) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp2XyxrMq9E) - especially in connection with the cutscenes of Darmani and Mikau!
- Last 6 hours (MM) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlP1t8XX_1Q) - it really covers the desperate feeling, the world's end.
- Serenade of Water from TP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ1RZSEbGfQ) - this one still makes me teary-eyed sometimes...
- The ghost's house (LA) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8efefQupTU) - even though it's only 8bit this probably takes the #1 spot for me when it comes to saddest Zelda songs!
And some that weren't mentioned yet:
- Ending theme (aLttP) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JU0C_l4aac) - this is a strange example because it somehow feels happy and sad at the same time, it's hard to describe. Probably my favourite Zelda ending theme and one of my favourite video game ending themes in general, along with SMB3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujGPY2hrGk0), SMW (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNcIAC30mWI) and Yoshi's Island (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV8PCuLQ-v0). Yeah, Koji Kondo is a real genius!
- Southern Shrine/Face Shrine (LA) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUf07IdSPFQ) - this plays right after you realize that you're just in a dream and fits very well in this moment. Fun fact: This is based on a 270-290 years old Bach song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz9LJC5MEqI)
