Incredibles 2 9 out of 10
It ignores the short-lived comic and Rise of the Underminer video game and does an almost great job following the evens of the popular film.

Yes almost, because... well spoilers.

The acting was pretty bad in some spots, but in general it was a fun film, and I am glad I was able to see it.

Saw

8.5/10

When they say it's like torture porn, they're wrong. It was only gory in very few spots, and I never was grossed out or affected by the gore. However, they were right when they said it wasn't very scary at all. Besides that, I thought it was interesting

Incredibles 2: 8/10

I came for the action scenes, which did not disappoint thanks to 10 years of animation progress. Since the last 5 or so Pixar movies sucked, and with the superhero fad still going on, it definitely came out at the right time too, even if it was a little flawed. I think my favorite part was the first ten minutes or so with the Underminer.

The whole Screenslaver thing turned out to be a let down (I already knew who it was about a third of the way in) and just didn't have the magic I was expecting. Most of the humor was just the kids being obnoxious or Jack Jack being LEL RANDUM XD, believe me, it gets old really fast. And then there's just general missed opportunities, which I won't go into cuz spoilers.

All in all it was good, which is even better since I was expecting mediocre.

Incredibles 2

This movie did not disappoint. Despite my concerns that Jack Jack's use of powers would be obnoxious, I actually found the scenes focused on him to be pretty cute and funny. He was certainly given a lot more personality that I really enjoyed.

Incredibles 2's strongest point has got to be the action, which thanks to advancements in animation is far superior than the originals. I think the popularity of superhero movies is also a contributing factor. With more fight scenes for the whole family and supers fighting supers, there was a greater range of special powers being shown off and being used creatively. Elastigirl's solo scenes were also beautifully done and exciting.

The villain didn't let down, IMO. While its certainly obvious who the villain is within one second of their screentime, I won't fault the movie too much. I don't remember how obvious the foreshadowing was supposed to be in the original, but it was always clear that Mirage was evil in that one as well. Besides it's a kids movie, so I'm not gonna fault it for obvious secret villain. Regardless, I found their motive and backstory to be pretty understandable, much like Syndrome. Despite the name, Screenslaver was an awesome villain.

great movie! awesome! I didn't really like the first one so I went in a little hesitant. but it was actually really good. it was fresh and something new. I really loved the comedy and the action. the movie wasn't super big on story, but after Infinity War, I think that was necessary. heres the one thing I didn't like though: warning spoilers.
I thought the post credit scenes were crazy! I did like them a lot. ill admit I actually audibly gasped during the first one, which seemed to have drawn a few laughs from the audience much to my embarrassment. and the second one gave me chills. I always hated that EBS alarm and it gave me the spooks. but my fears and embarrassments are beside the point haha. I felt like the post credit scenes brought it all away from the movie. I was necessary because we were all thinking about what would happen after the Thanos incident. but it took away from the movie a lot. because after the movie all I could think of was the post credit scenes. the movie was awesome but all I could think about was how shocked I was at the post credits. I wasn't even thinking about the movie itself.
anyways it was a solid movie overall. definitely recommended for laughs!

I watched Dunkirk last night for the first time since I saw it at the cinema on release.
I loved it then, and even more now. Much better the second time. Truly great film!

Hereditary - much, much better than I was expecting. A slow burn from a fresh faced director, he's got an exciting future. As good as the film was though the ending sank it. It should have remained ambiguous but it didn't... shame, but it was only the last five minutes. -- 8/10

The First Purge - Definitely the best Purge so far. What a great universe theyre building here, Saw had already turned to crap at this point, so fingers crossed the Purge series has a few more aces to deal out. -- 8/10

Judge me all you want, I had a fun time with this 7.5/10

I liked that one too!

Anyway

Insidious 4 - 7/10

The first one is my all time scariest film. Its that violin that gets me! By now I have grown to like the characters of insidious and whilst not beating the scares of the first (and perhaps with good reason as I don't think my heart could cope) I did enjoy this entry and learning more about Elise's childhood. Bring on Insidious 5.

The Equalizer 2 6/10

I was kinda surprised to hear of the existence of an Equalizer sequel simply because I had somehow forgotten the first one even exists. I know I've seen it but for the life of me I don't remember.

The Equalizer 2 benefits solely from the presence of American National Treasure and Man of the Ages Denzel Washington. Otherwise, this movie doesn't really have much else going for it other than some rich writing, engaging subplots, decent characters and all round solid acting. Denzel Washington is a quintessential super hero in every respect, sans the cape and super powers (unless his super power is being Denzel Washington). He's an ex CIA op who is dead of course like all the best CIA ops who goes around Boston casually enriching the lives of random strangers - reuniting lost siblings and being a surrogate father to at-risk youth - in between bouts of delivering violent retribution down upon rapists, gang bangers, kidnappers and assorted evil doers.

When a colleague is betrayed our titular hero springs into action. This plot - the actual main through plot of the movie - takes a back seat to even the minor subplots that surround it. The villain is one note and the details behind it all are casually ignored as if they are of no consequence. Ultimately Denzel throws down with the dirtbags in an epic climax which is really no better or worse than the action we've seen thus far. In regards to the action, it is violent and brutal but brief and somewhat uninspired. The action scenes don't take long and tend to be over quick and while satisfying they're never quite as sweet as they should be to justify their brevity. The action is still well shot and choreographed with nary an insipid shaky cam or awkward jump cut to be found.

Over all The Equalizer 2 makes for a fine weekend rental. It has already eclipsed Mamma Mia 2 at the box office so it's served its purpose in that regard.

Pokemon The First Movie - 10/10

Frigging classic.
I don't even really like Pokemon all that much. I mean I think it's cool but I'm not really all that interested personally. But I did watch the show and The First Movie is still pretty sweet. I haven't seen it in ages and I'm pretty sure I had it on video. It must still be around somewhere.

Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin: Rise of The Red Comet -- 7.5/10
Really nice cap to the series of movies, but as a standalone it's kinda underwhelming. It plays more like an epilogue honestly, tying up loose ends from the previous films and doing nothing more. The protagonist Char shows up for what seems like less than half of the film, and barely does anything interesting while other characters push the plot forward, just enough to stop right before the events of the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime. If anything the mecha is the best looking 3dcg mecha I've ever seen, and the space battles were top notch.
