Psych: The Movie

Felt like an overlong episode, Jules was excessively standoffish, and while it used the plot structure of the "Yin Yang Killer" episodes, it failed to live up to most of them. Also, the fake-out villain swap was pretty lame.

On the other hand, Psych is top 3 tv series of all time for me, so it gets bonus points for that. It was also incredibly fun to watch, so it gets a 7/10

I just watched X-Men (2000) for the first time yesterday (Yeah, I'm really behind the times) Some of the stuff is a little dated, but I still enjoyed the movie as much as a lot of the other superhero movies I have seen. I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of them.

I'd probably give it an 8/10

Tron Legacy 10/10 - Home Video

Critics are dumb. For some reason they had a problem with the sequel to Disney's 1982 pioneering masterwork Tron, the grandaddy of all fully CGI movies today. And for some odd reason nobody showed up to see it in theaters. Crazy world. Legacy has all the makings of a blockbuster smash hit. I remember wanting to see it so badly just from the trailers alone. I remember my dad and I braving a snow storm so he could take me to see it in theaters on Christmas eve. I can't even remember the last time I wanted to see a movie so badly I'd risk life and limb. Actually, yeah, the last time was when I went to see Tron Legacy.

Everything about Tron Legacy is top notch and highly imaginative. First of all, anything with Jeff Bridges in it. But everything from the plot to the themes to the acting and pacing is excellent, but all that is even overshadowed by the stunningly phenomenal design of The Grid. There's just nothing else like it anywhere. This movie is a visual masterpiece to rival Blade Runner. The action is astounding, exciting, suspenseful and stylish af. Gives The Matrix a run for its money. The drama is superb. The score - holy smokes the soundtrack courtesy of visionaries Daft Punk is absolutely mind blowing. They even make an appearance in one scene as nightclub disk jockeys complete with their signature helmets.

It's been a while since I watched this movie. Long enough that I was able to appreciate it like I was watching it anew. Anyone owes it to themselves to take a gander at least once. Chances are it won't be your last.

Unfortunately, it's Disnich and the House of Mouse is exclusively in the business of producing offensively rancid fecal matter these days. Since it under performed at the box office the sequel has been kept in development hell for years. At this point it will be a mercy if it never happens. I cringe to think of what godawful pile of crap Disnich would make of a sequel. Leading man Garrett Hedlund deserves all the starring roles he can get. And I used to like Olivia Wilde before her career tanked and she became a full time borderline psychotic tumbrlina for a living. But such is the sad sorry pathetic state of Hollywood.

Legacy however stands as a worthy enough ending, never mind an immensely enjoyable and delightfully unique film in its own right.

X-Men 6/10

The OG X-men movie. It is okay.

It's not a terrible movie, but it's very clearly an early 2000s superhero movie. The special effects and costuming isn't great, and there is absolutely no depth to any of the characters. They have the semblance of depth, but nothing goes too deep. It's very superficial. The story is interesting, but none of its themes are explored.

However, I do want to say that the casting is amazing. I don't think there was a single actor who didn't nail their character.

The last one I watched was The Shawshank Redemption. I would definitely give it a 10/10, one of the best films I've ever seen! Morgan Freeman is at his peak here, the twist near the end is genius, brilliant cinematography. A cinematic masterpiece if I ever saw one!

The black sheep of the recent MCU films, and it doesn't rely on cookie-cutter witticisms to carry itself. My only complaint is that it gets a little repetitive, in the second half especially, but overall it's the best "origin story" in recent memory.

10/10. A near flawless movie about the mafia.

I loved Michael's character arc and how in the end he bexame just like who he never wanted to be. Flawless. I will certainly watch the equally high rates part 2.

I also watched Cool Runnings, the story if the first Jamaican bobsled team.

Thor: Ragnarok - 8.5/10. Great action, hilarious bits here and there, the movie just felt a tad too short, and I wish Hela got some more screen time.

Death Wish 7.5/10
A good excuse to get out of the house. Willis goes the extra inch in his performance compared to some of his most recent catatonic phone-ins. Story is straightforward, hard and impactful. Perfectly timed, and adequately expresses the frustrations many people are having at the present crime situation in a lot of places. The violence is brutal but not in an overwrought fantasy sort of way. It's very grounded. It's neat seeing stock action hero Willis play like he has no idea how to operate a firearm. It has its exciting moments, but the story isn't the sort of thing you really enjoy watching especially when it plays out on the news every evening for real.

3000 Miles to Graceland 8/10
They just don't make em like this anymore. A sexually explicit, stupidly hyper violent thriller starring Kurt Russel and a super effective performance from Kevin Costner. Costner is hit or miss. Sometimes he's dull as paste (dances with wolves, the postman) but every once in a while he'll knock a performance out of the park (Silverado, Open Range). This movie mostly has no point. It's a unique tale of a casino robbery, betrayal, and romance and it's fun the whole way.

Gone Girl - 8/10 a complete mind **** of a movie. Really. Loved how manipulative she was and how the ending was just him conceding like "damn, I'm definitely stuck with her for life".
