Raspberry Pi

So, I have this nifty little device called a raspberry pi. Its a minicomputer, (Google for more info). Well, if you've heard of it, you may know of all the cool things done with it. My question is, does anyone know how would go about powering both is, and a small display from the same power source? What hardware would I need, and how would I go about it. Thank you in advance. (In case you're wondering, I'm planning to mount it on my arm because I think that would be awesome)

First off I wish you luck in your endeavors(I have a pi as well and I love it(Model B 512MB of memory))

This article talks about dropping the voltage needed to power a model of external display from 5v(instead of 12v) http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=17651 However it does require soldering stuff and the like.

There is another article that talks about using another different(and more supported) display, but it only runs off of 6-12v whereas the Pi runs off of 5v.

In conclusion I suggest that while it is definitely possible to run this off of 4 rechargeable(this is important) AAs, due to the high power draw of the display combined with the power needed by the Pi would cause the batteries to die really quickly, the only solution would be to throw bigger batteries at it, which for a arm mounted device might not be the best idea...

Just a side note, those are not touchscreen-displays so you will also have to have some sort of a keyboard/mouse thing to control it.

My personal take on this would be to just realize that while the pi is great for a lot of things, it may not be the best for a arm mounted device, but it would be a great learning experience nonetheless if you still desire to try.

I've always thought of doing something creative with the Pi but I could never think of anything good enough.
