General Zelda Popular Pairings You Dislike

Wow, I am seriously surprised nobody has mentioned this but:

I mean, really? I think it was pretty darn obvious that these two kinda hated each others guts to no end, and yet there are so many fics pairing them up together. I just... don't get it.

I mentioned that pairing, actually... but as much as I hate it, I emphasized the ship that hate more/hate the most.

I mean, Ghirahim x Link is oogy to me... as they do hate each other, but there is at least *some* basis in Ghirahim's commentary, personal space invading and sexual swagger with his sadism. He talks about the Red String of Fate with Link - something which clearly has an overtone to it. Also, Ghirahim is an actual physical entity. This is unlike Dark Link, which, as I said, I get even less though it's been around a lot longer just because *he's a frickin' SHADOW!*

But, yeah, on the fanfiction places, Ghira-Link is the new Dark Link x Link. I just hold my head in pain and skim around looking for good gen/NO-pairings fic.

Random Zelda pairings that have zero in-game or zero canonical game-material (official guides, comics, etc) to support them. Like Malon x Link. Malon's cute and pretty as heck, but there was nothing between her NPC and Link. Nada. Cute pairing IDEA-WISE, but eh, nothing story-wise to support them. Unless you count Himekawa's manga adaptation as (semi)canonical being that Aonuma advised the story and they drew it. Not sure how that works. But my point stands- same for Ghirahim x Link. Nothing there. He's just creepy like that. It's a common characteristic for villains in Japanese media.

Same goes for Dark Link x Link. Nothing there, and Dark Link isn't an actual being. Shadow Link, on the other hand, could be considered one, but again, there is NOTHING in the form of romance ever mentioned or even hinted at. Ever.

TPLink x TPZelda because... well, I dunno. She seemed so far beyond his grasp. It's not the whole royalty/peasant thing, because anyone who has read a fairytale knows that argument can be tossed out the window. I guess it's... I dunno, she seemed so much older than him. Not only in age, but maturity.... which I guess comes with age. XD But she just seemed a lot less emotionally available compared to other Zeldas. She seems like the type of character who'd never really become romantically involved with ANYONE.


..I dunno. I'm not much of a "shipper". I can recognize and fully appreciate canonical pairings (Anju x Kafei / Lulu x Mikau) or love interests (Cremia x Kafei / Marin x Link / Zelda x Link / Zelda x Groose) because I find their relationships important to the stories and quite endearing. But... I never really go out of my way to ship anyone. I think it's cool and completely fine to ship pairings like Link x Malon for reasons like "just because" or "I think they are suited for each other", but I don't necessarily LIKE those pairings.

Link x Zelda, this flies for all the games I have completed. I am not quiet about the fact that I don't like Zelda's character, at all. I love Link and I hate the idea of him being with a character like her. I'm not sure I can really explain why.

Truth is, I dont' really picture Link involved with any of the ladies he has come across in his travels. The only one that I think I would directly approve of is Link x Midna, just because there was so much build and character development, as well as relationship development. I think that the main reason I don't like the idea of Link being with most of the girls, mainly Zelda, is because he spends so much of his time away from them. There is no real chance for the relationship to build or have any sort of uncertainty followed by the cutesy romantic tension. Without time, those moments don't happen, or at least don't build up.

Link x Zelda in SS came the closest to meeting those requirements. Because they were already close when the game started, I was able to be on board with it a little more. But I still disliked Zelda's character. So, back to square one.

I want to be clear that I don't feel that Link shouldn't be with someone. Because I feel there are a couple characters throughout the series I would love to see him with. I just am not usually a fan of the ones the majority of the Zleda fandom are in favor of supporting.

This. I don't like it when people just stick two random characters together for no good reason. The yoai fans are REALLY bad about this. It's pretty sad that I have to dislike yoai and yuri because the majority of the people who support it just want to write/draw nonsense porno, when I have nothing against homosexuality in real life. I have seen respectful yoai and yuri...but I don't go looking for it because of the crazies.

Some of your love interest examples though...Kafei was engaged to Anju, are you saying he's gonna cheat on her? Same concept if SS Link and SS Zelda are together(the Groose pairing)

I...just don't see it. There's no chemistry...they've never even come in psychical contact with each other...Ilia shows more love towards Epona than she does link and treats him like a dog. No seriously, with the way she treats him, I'm surprised they're even friends.

It just felt forced. You don't see it blossom in the game. You are just thrown in the world and the game says "Oh hai, here's your girlfriend. Have fun."

For the Ilia one you can call some one you care about the worst names possible.
Mine would be LinkxTetra. I dont know why I just hate it.

The problem, though, is that Ilia pays practically no attention to Link. Only when she's story relevant does she care, and even then Link pushes her aside for the bigger destiny.

What I meant about Kafei x Cremia is that if you talk to Romani and Cremia enough you find out that Cremia is in love with Kafei even though she's best friend with Anju who is engaged to Kafei. That's why the mother makes really cruel comments about Kafei's disappearance.

I don't support the pairing because obviously the characters would be hurt, but I appreciate the romantic complications in Majora's Mask because they further developed and defined an entire group of characters, not just Anju and Kafei. We saw Kafei's devotion to Anju despite being turned into a child, we saw Anju's trust in Kafei despite rumors of him running off with her best friend, and we saw Cremia's respect for her best friend Anju by keeping her emotions to herself.

Skyward Sword was nice, but not nearly as complicated. The characters were more defined by other game events. Anyway, that's why I can appreciate canonical pairings AND canonical love interests. ^_^

Check it: there are things called moments of intimacy. This is where the two love interests consider nothing but each other, even if for fleeting moments. This happens in many situations - even real life ones. Link and Ilia never do this, though, and it's thanks to Link's constantly being the hero. Bam.

Not to mention that basing pairings solely on looks, as if people must reach a certain level of attractiveness to *deserve* love is a freaking disgusting attitude. Hope it doesn't transfer to real life. (Not speaking to you, Juice J, but about the person you quoted).

But Link x Ilia... that's one I'm kind of indifferent to. I'll use the pairing in a fanfic if it makes sense for a specific plot, but I'm more of a (non-sexual) Ilia x Epona shipper, myself.

To the person who said Ghirahim x Link is gross, I give you props. It's seriously the worst pairing I've ever seen. Every pic and fic is the same when it comes to these two, and it's just getting ridiculous (they're not even that good, tbh).
