Link should have a shotgun or a shotgun if he has any gun. I wouldn't like to see a pistol, revolver or musket. inb4 link should never have guns.

Why do I pick shotgun? The spread, the damage, the everything. I love shotguns.
Why rifle? DPS.

Rifle. Preferably AK-47. Just kidding , something more along the lines of a pistol, or revolver. Although I doubt Zelda will ever include guns in their games.

EDIT: Curse you Vanitas..... Curse you...

Honestly, I think it should be a Hand Cannon. That was one of the first types of guns, and it was made during the Medieval time period, so that would allow for people to not be able to complain about it being "too advanced" for Zelda (even though we have a train, steamboat, and freakin' robots in the series now <.<).

Either a pistol or a shotgun. We can't have any long range guns or else that would eliminate the need for the Bow & Arrow
But I don't see how any gun would work...

Maybe they could replace the slingshot with the pistol, but a shotgun would be too strong and people would use it over the sword.

This is exactly what should happen. The Slingshot has had very little purpose in any game but OoT. Even SS didn't fully capitalize on its potential (although the Scattershot was pretty badass). A gun would be much more enticing to use, though. I mean, come on, if you had the choice between a gun and a slingshot, which would you pick? Most likely the gun. Of course, like you said, it'd need to be short-ranged. Leave the long-range stuff to the Bow.

There could also be a sound penalty involved with the gun, i.e. shooting it alerts all enemies to your general area, making it not very wise to use in stealth portions (which NEED to stay in the series). Of course, I suppose an upgrade to the gun could be a silencer. That would be tight.

All in all, what you said is what should happen. I'm confused as to why you said you didn't know how a gun could work. It's pretty simple.

Maybe Link should get a portal gun. Then you could have this amazingly complex dungeon. Link should be thinking with portals.

I wouldn't mind seeing a similar musket to what they used in the american revolution. Inaccurate, and it would take a while to reload, but it could also be very powerful.

Guns again?

Just give him his cross bow if everyone is so keen for a rapid fire projectile.

Maybe its my hate of guns and their never-ceasing presence in nearly game where the guy's face is in shadow on the front of the box, but right now guns are the last thing that need to be implemented into Zelda.

I'm not gonna bang on with the argument that 'guns won't fit', because they probably would. We've played Link's Crossbow training which saw Link stalking through the woods, sniping and rapid firing numerous enemies to death, so projectile handheld weapons already work in Zelda, a little more of an advanced Hyrule or New Hyrule and guns would probably be commonplace and enemies would probably even shoot back at you.. quick! which one of these buttons isn't crouch and where is the nearest waist high wall? If we ever get a probably very possible Steam-punk Zelda then we'd have guns again with no questions asked, but here is my reasoning for the no guns route; Zelda is an honourable title which is a rare thing compared to everything out on the shelves and a gun would diminish its integrity.

What is wrong with the bow and arrow? if Link could target and fire three arrows at once would that satisfy?

I think a musket would suite the franchise more. I think it's a neat idea , but once again harcore Zelda fans won't want a gun in there precious legend of zelda game.
