It has my attention, I'll say that. I've been somewhat disillusioned from Pokemon, as I personally believe the series has changed very little and I no longer have much purpose in buying the next game when it comes out.
I'm impressed by both the move into full 3D and the decision to place X and Y on the 3DS instead of being lazy and relegating it to the plain old DS. I've been waiting for those two things to happen for awhile, so I'm glad Game Freak did. That said, the graphics and animation look basic and choppy like they belong on the DS anyway, so hopefully these graphics are just a starting point and not the final destination. Watch a video of Resident Evil: Revelations and tell me the 3DS isn't capable of so much more. Not to say X and Y need to become all realistic, but it can be cartoon-like and still be detailed. What I see is incredibly bare-bones.
I'm not particularly concerned about them adding more Pokemon. If the overbearing Event Pokemon stop and we actually have a snowball's chance in hell at catching 'em all, I'm all for it. Finally a Pokemon game we can fill our PokeDexes in without being unreasonable. If it's more of the same and we're reminded of our helplessness in filling the PokeDex anyway, this may be another Pokemon game I pass up.
I want Game Freak to take its time with this. There's no need to rush it out just to give us (poor) 3D graphics, more Pokemon, and a slightly different location. Change up the gameplay a bit, iron out the old flaws (HMs, for instance), polish those graphics, and throw in a bunch of cool ideas we'll consistently use. Please don't rush this, Game Freak. Renew my interest in the series.
