I mean, if someone made 100 threads, then they are clearly an active member, and being productive to the ZD community. Rupees are rewards for being a good citizen of ZD, although I do not approve of completly random/innappropriate threads like the booger one.
Well. It was yours

he made a thread asking what color your boogers were
I didn't think you were talking about me, because I never made this thread, and I only got 1000 rupees.

Besides, 90% were Zelda questions, which actually help this community.

Well, for quite a few of my threads, I looked to see if there were recent versions of the same thread, and for most there wasn't one at all, or it was pretty old (although I simply revived a few, like the "Favorite region in BoTW").

I don't know where you're getting your info from (and it doesn't matter too much to me either), but either way, I consider what I am doing to not be harmful, and actually consider it to be good for ZD, because it lets us have more conversations about Zelda, and to learn a bit more about each other throught the conversations like the Allergy thread.

If I did something wrong, I'm sure we can talk about it (probably elsewhere would be best), and I'm sorry, but I don't consider making a myriad of serious threads wrong.

No hard feelings?

The more threads the merrier. Someone has to be the overlord of thread creating while our prophet @Spirit is recovering! ;)

It's refreshing to see many threads being created about various topics because it sparks discussion and as YIGA said, we can all grow closer together and know each other based off of replies. This is a pretty tight knit community, so I welcome the increased activity and more importantly, the meme potential. :)

Is it possible to get first and last tabs added to the pages list? Also, threads with a lot of replies are kind of hard to navigate so if we could be able to search for a specific page number, that'd be great.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the first part, can you rephrase that please? As for the second part, you're already able to search for a specific page number by changing the number in the search bar (i.e. zeldadungeon.net/forum/threads/official-suggestions-thread.10047/page-171 )

Where it tells us we got a thread reply can we get told what thread has been replied to please? Makes it easier than searching the forums for the icon of someone to find it.

Lately we have seen a few instances of gossip occurring against various members in the shoutbox and it is getting out of control. Be reminded that we will not be allowing gossip sessions on this forum, and those naming other members on here in an attempt to drag them through the mud over some personal quarrel will be dealt with accordingly.

Let me remind everyone of the first section of the Forum Rules

Forum Rules said:
Treat All Members With Respect

New, old, ranked, unranked - all members shall be treated with the same respect.

Insulting or Flaming Another Member: Talking down to another member based on who they are or what they have posted is considered flaming. Talking about another member in a demeaning way is also not allowed. There is a clear difference between flaming and constructive criticism. If another member has posted something that you feel is wrong, that you disagree with, or that you feel is not appropriate, there is a better way to get the point across than insulting them or giving feedback in a demeaning fashion. This rule also forbids ad hominem attacks in debates. (Infraction: 5, 10, or 15 points, based on severity and repetition)

Trolling or Baiting: Trolling and baiting describe actions which attempt to elicit negative - often humorous, emotional, or inappropriate - responses from others, and will not be tolerated. This includes mocking, antagonizing, harassing, or otherwise targeting the nerves of another member or group. Although by definition these depend on a member's intentions, moderators will judge incidents based on the perceived effects on the target. Be careful to respect other members' dignity. (Infraction: 8 or 15 points, based on severity and repetition)

Gossiping about members on this forum behind their backs and/or in the shoutbox is contributing to unnecessary drama and if we see this happening we will be considering it as Insulting or Flaming Another Member. Repeated instances will also become Trolling or Baiting. For those who haven't received warnings for this, consider this your warning.

We will be taking a hardline on this from now as this issue is one that is making various members uncomfortable on the forums. This is a place to come talk about video games and relax, not one to breed drama, hate, and gossip. If you don't like someone else then ignore them, don't make it your mission to make others also dislike that person. If need be, involve the staff rather than gossiping (and rather than retaliating to gossip) and of course myself if you are not satisfied with the response of other staff members.

@Jimmu this is ********. The whole thing. I don't know if it was you, Mases, the mod team, or a combination that made this decision but whoever did really needs to rethink their vision for this forum.

The interpretations of the rules you listed state that no member of this forum may, at any time, post anything negative about another member regardless of what they did. For a completely hypothetical example, if a member posts, say, hardcore Nazi porn in the SB according to the rules you stated, no one may "ad hom" that user and call him a moron to his face or behind his back. It even applies to inactive users. No one may express their opinion and say "That guy was an asshole, he just insulted people in his threads and never listened unless you agreed with him." Nope, can't do that.

You also state that this is a forum for people to relax and talk about games. This is utterly false. If that were the case, then delete every sub section other than World of Zelda and Gemeral Gaming.

You also state that you could just ignore the person instead of gossip. It goes both ways. If someone doesn't like the troll/gossip, just ignore it. There's literally an ignore button so you don't have to see their posts. It solves the problem without censoring anyone.

Lastly you state that the mod team will strictly enforce this policy and that no one gets warnings because this is the warning. Imma tell you right now, this policy will hurt the forum. It's not gonna work. This is a policy more suited to death threats, not some ****ing gossip. Whatever vision the person who made this has for the forum is terribly unrealistic. It's a vison where everyone respects others. Sounds simple, but it's not gonna happen. At least not through force like you're trying to make it.

My suggest is to completely trash this hardline policy.

When Smash 4 first came out, I made a discord server to organize tournaments. Since we couldn't even finish tournaments and since users outside if ZD joined, I dropped the ZD name and it just became a Smash server. They wanted a place to post unrelated stuff so I made another channel on that server were people can post and say whatever they want. PM me if you want a link, and I only have 2 rules:
No child porn
No irl gore
If you already have a place that fulfills that role, then shoot me a pm with a link, cause I wanna chat with my ZD peeps without fear of being banned for gossip or something.

In the mod chat we've actually specifically discussed how to deal with discussions regarding inactive/banned members as we've recognised that can be something of a grey area. Perhaps we could better discuss this and make the wording more clear.

You also state that this is a forum for people to relax and talk about games. This is utterly false. If that were the case, then delete every sub section other than World of Zelda and Gemeral Gaming.

"utterly false"? The primary focus of this forum is video games, it is in fact a video game forum. We don't need to delete every other sub-forum for this to be the case, of course we will allow some other types of discussions. Slander just doesn't fit into that.

You also state that you could just ignore the person instead of gossip. It goes both ways. If someone doesn't like the troll/gossip, just ignore it. There's literally an ignore button so you don't have to see their posts. It solves the problem without censoring anyone.

There is only a certain degree of "just ignore it" that someone can handle. Slandering or trolling someone is going to likely also make others think negatively against that person, often for biased and/or unfair reasons that the listeners don't get to hear both sides of. If someone gives you a reason you believe is enough to slander them, tell the staff instead so that we can fix issues without creating a toxic environment.

Lastly you state that the mod team will strictly enforce this policy and that no one gets warnings because this is the warning. Imma tell you right now, this policy will hurt the forum. I'm not so sure this hurts the forum, the "Treat All Members With Respect" section has been in the rules for years and I am sure is generally accepted at least in principal by most members here. Of course though, it is not usually going to be possible that 100% of members will agree on a policy. Quite a few people liked my post in the rules thread and based also on my discussions with more users I think that they agree that my post has the sentiment of creating a good atmosphere for a video game forum. I think it is what most people here want, but of course I am happy for others to chime in if they enjoy forums that don't value mutual respect between members more or if they otherwise disagree with any part of my post. We aren't saying you have to personally hold great respect for a member or think highly of everyone, but they should be treated civilly/respectfully and not slandered (again, go through the staff if you have reasons you see as worthy of slander and we will look into better solutions). The past few years have been fairly drama free until the recent few months, I for one don't want this forum returning to be an uncomfortable and drama-fueled place again so I see this as necessary.

When Smash 4 first came out, I made a discord server to organize tournaments. Since we couldn't even finish tournaments and since users outside if ZD joined, I dropped the ZD name and it just became a Smash server. That's great, if people are into a place with such few rules then they are more than welcome to spend their time in that place, I'm not going to tell you where to spend your time. I believe more rules are necessary to avoid a negative atmosphere for the majority of people. It is my job here as the administrator to adopt policies that are best for the forum and that the majority of users of the forum will agree with, and I feel as though I have done so. Of course there will always be people who disagree but there is no way that I can please everyone unfortunately. As I've said many times I am happy to have respectful and civil discussion about any policy though, so I'd encourage others to let us know what they think. Almost nothing is ever set in complete stone so long as users are willing to debate and give their opinions.

Wait, no warnings? So if someone says "Jamie is such an asshole" in the shoutbox they get auto infracted? Can we take our own names out of the "you can't gossip about this person" sweepstakes? Granted my name is probably out by default lel but I don't people to be infracted without warning for anything.

I believe this is wrong-headed and verifiably false just by looking at ZD alone. More rules, ZD was filled with drama. Less rules and it's a nice place. There are less people like me ****ing around and complaining about rules and there are less people whining to the staff because someone posted a funny ass post in a thread that didn't "intend" it. There are also more people who feel free to enjoy themselves. Less people are whining, but also there are more people are happy.

In some super ideal forum I'd say we allow nearly everything and then if we don't like a user we can just ignore them but as ZD is obviously going to have rules and that will never change, I think the ruleset should still aim to be as small and loosely enforced as possible.

Perhaps infract on first offence is too harsh and we should warn on first offence instead? If enough people think so I am willing to budge on that. Obviously though if someone is joking around with the person they are naming we will take that on a case by case basis. We aren't entirely binary robots.

To clarify, I mean more rules [than "No child porn, No irl gore"]. I'd agree that taking a relaxed approach on some rules (such as spamming, signature sizes etc) compared to the past has been beneficial. We've had far less infractions than the past this year (even relative to the activity drop) and we avoid infracting over petty things as much as possible. I just disagree that less rules regarding other things such as insulting, flaming, trolling, baiting, and slander are better.
