I thought the big issue was the Wii U not being wildly different. It was so similar that the marketing made it look like a Wii peripheral. It being compatible with all the Wii controllers didn't help.

Hard to say right now. The design is absolutely similar enough that I could see it happening. There are plenty of parents who might look at the similar design and assume it's just some generational thing versus a new system, but the 2 at the end might help.

I think that the 2 in the end will save it? But we'll see. It definitely won't be the same level of hit as the first Switch, but given what the other two consoles are doing right now, I feel like it will still be a success.

Yeah, just being called the same thing as the last console with a “2” on the end of it is a disaster waiting to happen. I’m sure every parent in the world will not understand that this is a new console.

Generally speaking, people tend to recognize that 2 = sequel. Nintendo was harshly criticized for not using a 2 when naming the Wii's successor.

Exactly, and PlayStation 2 is one of the most successful consoles of all time.

I think it works, they can come up with their whimsical name for the next console.
