Being an extra doesn't mean you will just be a minor character. Of course you can be a pirate, that's what mainly the story will be about, Pirates and stuff. So yeah, she works great.

I really need to get this story started before I get to hooked with Pokemon, which I already am.

Oh shoot, I just noticed you posted here. I was too busy bringing SOTF to a close to take notice of this, but here I am...

Special means you get to be special in the story...I guess you will have to wait and see what special means. Does it mean you are special? Yes it does, your character will be very noteworthy and have lots of story time. Not saying the extras or other positions wont have story time, they will and will also play a huge role in the story.
