Majora's Mask My NEW Thoughts

Well if anyone here has seen me talk about Majora's Mask, you could probably tell I hated it.
I played it on my computer, the time limit rushed me, I couldn't explore, I found it very difficult, I TOTALLY ignored the bombers notebook, so I had no idea what all of the hype was about.

However I recently gave it a second chance and this time decided i'd manage my time more wisely and actually pay attention to the masks and the people i needed to help.
Right now I have 1/2 of the masks and i'm about to go to Great Bay. And I have to say, this time around, i LOVE it.

Now I get why people like it so much. However i've been using a walkthrough for a lot of the sidequests and how to manage my time and stuff and I can't help but think that I would never be able to get all of these masks and complete all of these sidequests without a walkthrough. Maybe I could've figured it out, but it's still difficult to find out certain little secrets when you have a time limit, even with the inverted song of time.

Great game, but can't help but think about what it'd be like without a walkthrough for at least some parts. And I rarely ever use walkthroughs when playing a Zelda game. What do you guys think?

Majora's Mask is an excellent game but I too require a walkthrough for some parts as I would feel overly rushed without one. The first time I played the game, however, I simply couldn't get into it. The save system and time mechanic were too frustrating. I can see why fans abhorred the game when it first released since they were expecting an Ocarina of Time 2. Over time, however, the majority realizied the creativity on display and Majora's Mask has risen as a cult classsic. Since there are only four major dungeons, most of the fun is sapped from the sidequests and they sure are interesting. It's nice to know that you can still help people before the world falls apart on its hinges. My only gripe is that some sidequests need to be completed on certain days which can lead to a frustrating experience. Also, good luck with the Great Bay Temple. You're going to need it.

It's great that you had a changed of heart towards Majora's Mask. It is still one of my personal favorites from the series. I love the genius idea of having a time limit really makes a person use the best amount of time and use their time efficiently! I really love playing the game again and again, and it never gets boring for me! ^^

I think it's good that MM is being recognized more and more. I use a walkthrough all of the time, especially for Stray Fairies. Once you get through it enough, though, the game becomes like the back of your hand in that you know it 1:1. Don't fret over using a walkthrough, I'm sure everyone who has played the game has used one before.

Glad to see your opinion has changed! Compared to other Zelda games, MM is very unique in many ways, which is why a lot of people love this game and consider it a favourite.
Maybe it's because I'm horrible at games, but usually for my first time through a Zelda game I have to use a walkthrough at some point, whether it's for heart pieces or other collectibles, or for when I'm stuck on a puzzle. So without them it would take me forever to beat it!

The time limit on MM makes it a different experience every time you play.

People complain about the time limit spoiling exploration in the game, but for me it was all about exploration; you just had an added dimension to your exploring. And the Bomber's notebook is pretty damn obvious when you look at it. I remember the first time I got to Romani Ranch (it was day 2) and realising I had to go back in time. I'd have another Zelda game with this mechanic, cause it really made you think.

I only used a guide for 100% completion (i.e. all hearts and sundries). The masks just came (mostly) from following the notebook.

I think that there is nothing wrong with using a walkthrough. My rule is i usually have to 1 beat the game first or 2 give my best human effort before using one. But asking for help is not a shameful thing especial if you are not used to the time on a game like this. But i am glad you like it now i love it.

MM is a unique Zelda- game, with a darker and melancholical side, which makes it special. The story is interesting, with a LOT of sidequests, and optional masks you can collect. The dungeons, even if there weren't that many, were enjoyable, and the boss battles for that fact were memorable as well. But aside from all these great things the game has to offer, it still has a few of those really tricky story events and quests you need to use walkthrough with, so in that part, I do agree. Nonetheless, I'm glad you have changed your opinion to a positive one:).
