I usually only name my starter. If it's water, it's Hellsing. If it's fire, it's Firaga. If it's grass, it's Yggdrasil. In my SoulSilver verion I've named all my Pokémon after gaming companies.

I nickname all my Pokemon and it's usually something stupid and not creative.

I think my most creative ones were naming Pidgey, Kaepora and Spearow, Gaebora.

Just got the Rock type catcher badge in White 2, so here are the nicknames of the Pokemon in my rock box as some mixed types are elsewhere

Golem - Crabbe after the Slytherin
Aerodactyl - Renado after the shaman from Twilight Princess
Omastar - Omi from Xaiolin Showdown
Kabutops - Bucha after the Kikwi from Skyward Sword
Sudowoodo - Orielle from SS
Corsola - Impa from The Legend of Zelda
Lunatone - Diana the moon goddess
Solrock - Sol from the suns in the Twilight Realm in TP
Cradily - Stritch the bug freak from SS
Armaldo - Flik from A Bug's Life
Relicanth - Gorko the Goron from SS
Regirock - Crackle from Snap, Crackle, Pop rice crispy
Rampardos - Scrapper the flying robot from SS
Bastiodon - Golo the Goron from SS
Probopass - Karane from SS
Gigalith - Biggoron the Goron from OoT
Carracosta - Squirt from Finding Nemo
Archeops - Petrie from The Land Before Time
Terrakion - Alex from Charlie's Angels

I was running out of names by species so I went to Zelda Dungeon and looked up the character list for each game. Which is why so many of them are named after Zelda Characters, most were by random chance.

I named my piplup in Pearl 'Mercury' because it would be a water/steel combo type when it evolved into empoleon and Mercury is a liquid metal, and I named some water type Pokemon, I don't remember which one, Neptune, after the God of the sea.

It took a while but soon I named my team after the planets and I didn't even know.
