I accidentally put a magnet next to my phone, and now the touch screen is all mussed up. Is there any way to fix it?

Is it the screen quality, or is it not responding to your delicate touch?
Alright, after a bit of research, i've found that a magnet will not affect (effect?) a smartphones display. I believe that the culprit is a faulty screen touch receptor thingy mcboby which I can't remeber the name of. I don't think it can be replaced easily.
