Lyrics of the Day

Half - PVRIS

Some days I feel everything, others are numbing
Can never find the in-between; it's all or nothing
I never, never, never said that I wanted
I never, never, never, never said I wanted

Never wanted to be here now
One foot in the grave, other on the ground
I can't process what I'm feeling now
This skin I can do without

Half my bones in city streets, the other in my sheets
And I don't think they'll ever get the chance to meet
I never, never, never said that I wanted (That I wanted)
I never, never, never said that I wanted (That I wanted)

Never wanted to be here now
One foot in the grave, other on the ground
I can't process what I'm feeling now
This skin I can do without
This skin I can do without

I never, never, never said that I wanted
I never, never, never said that I wanted
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...

Never wanted to be here now
One foot in the grave, other on the ground
I can't process what I'm feeling now
This skin I can do without

I never wanted a body
I never, never, never said...
I never wanted a body
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...
I never, never, never said...

Doctor, my eyes have seen the years
and the slow parade of fears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
to see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can

Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long

As I have wandered through this world
and as each moment has unfurled
I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams
People go just where they will
I never noticed them until I got this feeling
that it's later than it seems

Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what you see
I hear their cries
Just say if it's too late for me

Doctor, my eyes
they cannot see the sky
Is this the prize
for having learned how not to cry

Save The World, Get The Girl - The King Blues

From the fiery pits of Camden Town
To Elephant and Castle Underground
There ain't no teachers in the school
They're all out hustling playing pool
The neighbours complain about the noise
There's girls in labour with Tory boys
I say my prayers and go to bed
And wake up with a horses head

But if we lean on you, we are gonna fall
When it's all for one and one for **** all

I will save the world, I will get the girl
I'll dismantle a ticking time bomb
With just one second to spare
I will save the world, I will get the girl
And you will all point up at the sight
As I fly right through the air

Mother Earth is begging you to quit
So you reach to the moon and stick a flag in it
Well I believe in the people of America
But I still can't believe the Terminator's the governor
As the soldiers prepare for combat
Someone asks do you want freedom fries with that?
We put the 'oops' back in 'troops' now, it seems so absurd
But going to war, to prevent war
Was the most stupid thing I ever heard

I will save the world, I will get the girl,
I'll dismantle a ticking time bomb
With just one second to spare.
I will save the world, I will get the girl,
And you will all point up at the sky,
As I fly right through the air

I'm a twenty-something OAP
I'm screaming at my TV
Playing knock down ginger, kiss me quick
Karate chop and kung fu kick
I try to live a life that's full
To keep my damage minimal
But only the bailiff visits me
And he never stays for a cup of tea

But if we lean on you, we are gonna fall
When it's all for one and one for **** all

I will save the world, I will get the girl,
I'll dismantle a ticking time bomb
With just one second to spare.
I will save the world, I will get the girl,
And you will all point up at the sky,
As I fly right through the air.

Working Class Hero - John Lennon

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
'Til you're so ****ing crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still ****ing peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill

A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me

It's a windy day today, so...

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely
She was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playing low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we move
Caught like a wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove

And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Against the wind
We were running against the wind
We were young and strong we were running against the wind

And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home and I
I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worrying about paying or even how much I owed

Moving eight miles a minute for most of the time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again

Against the wind
I was running against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind

Well those drifters days are past me now
I got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in
What to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still running against the wind
I'm older now but still running against the wind

Girl From The North Country - Bob Dylan

If you're travelin' in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

If you go when the snowflakes storm
When the rivers freeze and summer ends
Please see if she's wearing a coat so warm
To keep her from the howlin' winds

Please see for me if her hair hangs long
If it rolls and flows all down her breast
Please see for me if her hair hangs long
For that's the way I remember her best

I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all
Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day

So, if you're travelin' in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

Somewhere out on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be something better
But there's nowhere else in sight

I was born here in the city
With my back against the wall
Nothing grows here life ain't very pretty
No one's there to catch you when you fall

In the city

It's survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don't have much pity
When you're down that's where you'll stay

In the city

Somewhere out on that horizon
Far away from the neon sky
I know there must be something better
And I can't stay here another night

-Joe Walsh "In The City" Warriors Soundtrack

Paper Thin - Dangerkids

I guess I never found the right time, did I?
To tell you I'm sorry I gave up
But until you're broken
You don't know what you're made of

There's a part of me that you'll never know
A filthy lie that I'm keeping close
Cuts at the skin and it's sinking in
How deep it goes
And there's a piece of you that I'll never see
Between the lines and found underneath
Of these calloused eyes (yours and mine)
But it never shows

I was a broken wreck, lost in noise
Pulled me out and I found my voice
You told me once and I won't forget
You don't pull a punch, the fly south effect
And I'll face it down, not like you
The only way out is a way through
So put your hands up if you've had enough
And it's time to choose

I guess I never found the right time, did I?
To tell you I'm sorry I gave up
But until you're broken
You don't know what you're made of

I feel my heart caving in
This line I'm walking is paper thin
And it's hard to hide the scar beneath the skin, skin
'Cause I've been burned and broke
And I wanted out, but I'm better now
And I know I won't be giving in, in

Yeah, I can't help the way that I sound
Or the fact you're not around
But you told me once before you left
How to live my life out loud
You can hide in the dark, but they'll never know you
Or speak your mind, and they'll never own you
It won't bring you back, or the time we had
But I hope it shows you

It goes--
(We've been waiting)
(We've been waiting)

We've been waiting
You don't know what you're made of
We've been waiting

Go!

From the top of the world
I can see where the sky breaks
Until you're lost in the dark
You don't look for the way

I guess I never found the right time, did I?
To tell you I'm sorry I gave up
But until you're broken
You don't know what you're made of

I guess I never found the right time, did I?
To tell you I'm sorry I gave up
But until you're broken
You don't know what you're made of

It goes--
We've been waiting, yeah
You don't know what you're made of
We've been waiting

When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful
A miracle. Oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, they'd be singing so happily
All joyfully. Oh, playfully watching me.

But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical. Oh, responsible. Practical.
And then they showed me a world where I could be so dependable.
All clinical. Oh, oh intellectual. Cynical.

There are times when all the world's asleep.
the questions run so deep
for such a simple man.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned?
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am!

I say now watch what you say, or they'll be calling you a radical.
Illiberal. Oh, fanatical. Criminal.
And won't you sign up your name, we'd like to fell you're acceptable.
Respectable. Oh, presentable. A vegetable.
Oh! Take it, take it, take it yeah!

[Scramm'n Sax Solo!!]

Oh at night when all the world's asleep
the questions run so deep
for such a simple man.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned?
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am!

Who?
Hey!

You know it's getting so logical.
D-D-D-D-D-Digital!
Oh one, two, three, five!!

Oh! It's getting UNBELIEVABLE!

Sweet Virginia - The Rolling Stones

Wading through the waste stormy winter
And there's not a friend to help you through
Trying to stop the waves behind your eyeballs, uh-huh
Drop your reds, drop your greens and blues

Thank you for your wine California
Thank you for your sweet and bitter fruits
Yes I've got the desert in my toenail, uh-huh
And I hid the speed inside my shoe

But come on, come on down sweet Virginia
Come on, honey child, I beg of you
Come on, come on down, you got it in ya, uh-huh
Got to scrape the **** right off your shoes

Yeah, I want you to come on, come on down Sweet Virginia,
I want you come on, honey child, I beg of you.
I want you come on, honey child you got it in ya, uh-huh
Got to scrape that **** right off you shoes.

But come on, come on down Sweet Virginia,
Come on, come on down, I beg of you.
Come on, come on down, you got it in ya, uh-huh
Got to scrape that **** right off you shoes.

Kingsmen 2 Spoiler
To Merlin!

Take me home, country roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue ridge mountain, Shenandoah river,
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma,take me home
Country roads

All my memories, gather round her
Modest lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
To the country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
Country roads

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
To the country roads

Take me home, that country road
Take me home, that country road

Oh joy's arise
The sun has come again to hold you
Sailing out the doldrums of the whole week
The polyphonic prairies here, it's all around you
It's all around you, out here

And if the whole world is crashing down
Fall through space out of mind again
Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising
Blows all the shadows far away

The falling alcohol empire, is here to hold you
Rolling out and haunted 'til it sleeps

Little memories, marching on
Your little feet, working the machine

Will it spin, will it soar
My little dream, working the machine
Soon like a wave that pass will fall
And closing in on you they're going on

Little memories
Your little feet, working the machine
Will it spin, will it soar
My little dream, working the machine

Soon like a wave that pass will fall
And closing in on you they're going on

I Know It's Over - The Smiths

Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
Oh well, enough said

I know it's over, still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Oh...

Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
See, the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me?

Sad veiled bride, please be happy
Handsome groom, give her room
Loud loutish lover, treat her kindly
Though she needs you more than she loves you

And I know it's over
Still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over and over and over
And over and over

And I know it's over
But in my heart it was so real
And you even spoke to me and said
"If you're so funny
Then why are you on your own tonight?
And if you're so clever
Then why are you on your own tonight?

If you're so very entertaining
Then why are you on your own tonight?
If you're so very good looking
Why do you sleep alone tonight?"
I know

'Cause tonight is just like any other night
That's why you're on your own tonight
With your triumphs and your charms
While they're in each others arms

It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind
Over, over

Love is natural and real
But not for you, my love
Not tonight my love
Love is natural and real
But not for such as you and I, my love

Oh mother I can feel the soil falling over my head...

Family - Noah Gunderson

Say something awful
As if ****ing the world is your right
And I watch you stumble
Drunk out into the night

To catcall ladies
You're thirsty for blood
You're picking a fight
And I wanted to ask you
"Man, what do you do in the daylight?"

So bum me a cigarette
Buy me a beer
Til I'm happy to be here
Happy to be here

With all of my family
Hookers in heels
And the men who watch them
Like hungry black eels

Run into me Sunday
Tell me you had one hell of a time
And through the haze and the gunsmoke
I'm forced to believe you're probably right

And someone lies bleeding
Someone got violent and did not think twice
And I watched you, my brother
Making a fool of the moon tonight

So bum me a cigarette
Buy me a beer
Til I'm happy to be here
Happy to be here

With all of my family
Hookers in heels
And the men who watch them
Like hungry black eels

Am I just a spark?

Nowhere important
It's not unusual to be loved by anyone.
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone.
But when I see you hanging about with anyone,
It's not unusual to see me cry, I wanna die.

It's not unusual to go out at any time,
but when I see you out and about it's such a crime.
If you should ever want to be loved by anyone,
It's not unusual it happens every day, no matter what you say.
You find it happens all the time.
Love will never do, what you want it to.
Why can't this crazy love be mine?

It's not unusual to be mad with anyone.
It's not unusual to be sad with anyone.
but if I ever find that you've changed at anytime,
it's not unusual to find out that I'm in love with you
whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh! Whoa-oh-oh-oh! Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
