General Zelda LoZ Characters You Want To Know More About

Pamela's father? Yeah, he's an interesting one. I'm sure we'd all want to know more abuot the Deku Butler and his plight with his son - whether the tree is the corpse of his son and so on. :'(

I think it's almost undeniable that the tree is or once was the Deku Butler's son. But I'd really love to know how he came to be there and how he was turned into a tree and so on. The only theory I can think of is Skull Kid turning him into it but who knows.

I was under the assumption that that tree was a gravestone under which the Deku butler's son was buried, but your notions are equally as plausible...

I've always wanted to know more about the Sheikah. However, I fear that learning more about them would be double-edged sword. How so? Well, while we'd learn more about their origins and way of life, doing so would also take their long-lived mysterious qualities away. Their mysterious nature is what kept them cool and interesting for all these years. If Nintendo were ever to divulge [some of] the secrets of the Sheikah race, then they'd have to go about it in a way that keeps them mystifying and intriguing...

I'd like to know more about Skull Kid, the one in MM (and in OoT, if it's the same one...). I think the flute annoying creature in TP lost woods is also a Skull Kid (the same? another one? is there a race of Skull Kids???), so yeah, I'd like to know more about him too.

I'd also like to know more about the Hyrule's Castle court, as far as the games go it seems in that palace there are only soldiers and the princess... Where are the ministers? Where are the nobles? Where is the damn government?

Hmm neat thread...

To be honest it's quite hard for me to single out some, there are so many characters even npcs that I would like to know more about, this is usually because Zelda tends not to go into huge depth and it usually leaves more questions than it answers. So for me there are a quite a lot of characters I'd like to get to know in more depth and sometimes just brief in game information would be helpful to give us get more of an idea who exactly that characters is.

Fierce Deity
Probably one of my favourite "characters" in the series, of course he isn't really a character as such but I think the main reason I'm intrigued by him is that there is a huge sense of mystery and almost unlimited possibilities, speculation wise. The world of Termina is generally a twisted abnormality to what we know in the series it gives a sense of mystery to even the most basic npc, the lore is generally alien to that of Hyrule and I think that's what makes FD that all more intriguing.

With a this fresh world and lore that we generally no nothing about it gives us more freedom to speculate and if Nintendo were to go deeper into FD's character I think it could add something to the overall lore. The Fierce Diety himself is very similar to are young hero, Link and I think this is what interests me most, there could be some kind of connection between the two and we could be delving into the origin of Link himself. SPOILERS We have this rule of three in Hyrule mythology, basically this balance of power by three and we have the Triforce which is evenly split into three parts and given to their rightful holders. We have Ganon(dorf), Princess Zelda and Link, Ganon(dorf) origins begin at Demise while Zelda ordinates from the Goddess Hylia. Link though is just this young hero with literally any background, I suppose this is one of the many possibilities that FD could actually be.

Tingle
A lot of people see Tingle as this novelty character, kind of like the comic relief of the series, people like to make jokes about him and why not, he is an odd character that differs from the average cliché characters the series is full of. In a way though aside from being this novelty character who makes the odd appearance here and there, Tingle could in fact be much more and I know I would like to see more from him.

It's obvious that he is quite delusional, I mean he sees himself as a reincarnated fairy and who knows maybe he could be but I think that something must have happened to Tingle to actually make him what he is. If we look at his..... rather strange attire we see a tight green body suit with red underpants on the outside (yes I am describing Tingle's clothing ;p). Anyway his choice of clothing seems to be very reminiscent of what a super hero would wear, like Tingle is trying to emulate a super hero of sorts and this could be a specific Link, due to the green clothing and reference to him being a fairy in his past life/form.

Tingle also seems to don a clock necklace, maybe a reference to the whole time theme in Majora's Mask ut it always interests me when I see it. There is also the fact that Tingle seems to have this obsession with rupees and he seems to go to out of his way to go an d retrieve maps and whatnot in order to sell them to Link within said game. I feel that Tingle is a middle aged man trying to replicate something he couldn't do in the past and I would love for a Zelda game to delve deeper into his character.

Link
Now a lot of you are probably thinking "what is this guy on about lol" however besides us controlling Link do we really actually know him? We rarely get an insight into his personality, his motives, his beliefs, his background and so on. In my opinion it bothers me that the main protagonist is one of the less detailed characters. There is one main reason for this though and that's the fact that Link is a silent hero, now I know this is the case for all characters (apart from the occasional gibberish/mumbles) but Link actually never speak in the Hyrule world. The communication we see is through dialogue and Link never takes part in conversations apart from indirect communication and player choice (yes/no etc.)

I'm not proposing Link should speak or have voice acting but the fact is that Nintendo could do with giving Link a distinct personality and background. We have seen some small step ups recently, Wind Waker Link generally showed over expressive emotions through facial detail and this was a huge step up but we could generally see more interactions between characters and Link. I would also like to see Link's Legend passed down through history to give us a sense that what where doing in games is being recognised through time and this could build up this aura and heritage surrounding him.

One other thing that I would like to see regrading Link is some sort of background. We usually start the game and never delve into his past experiences, it's usually all about the present when it comes to Link. It's like the future hero is insignificant until we take control of him, this for me damages are connection and how we can relate to Link and it also damages his possible character development. Link is essentially a different perosn in each game but this gives no reason as to why Nintendo can't touch on his origins... Maybe an insight why he is where he is, why his personality is like that and why we never see him with a large family etc.

I can tell you a little bit about the Skull Kid(s). From what I remember, and I believe OoT originally talked about this, but if a Kokiri ever went into the Lost Woods and got lost, they turned into a Skull Kid. I'm about 90% sure that's accurate but read up on it, replay OoT and MM even and pay attention to anything involving the mysterious Skull Kid(s).

In LttP, how is it that Link came to live with his uncle? Is this one of his parents actual siblings, or a family friend? And why does their home only have one bed?
A while ago there was a Dorkly video on the main site that had a humorous take on the uncle's death...
Uncle said:
I whispered scary stories into your ear before you went to sleep to make you have nightmares...you've always been a burden to me. Can you imagine meeting a woman and having to say: "We can't go to my house! My mute nephew's sleeping in the only bed!" Oh and by the way...there's some...porn in the dresser. Nasty stuff...I want you to destroy it.
Anyone else reminded of that? Lol. I wouldnt think anything of the one bed...it seems to be common in video games. They're not going to program anything that's not needed, like extra rooms/beds.

Let's see...I'll agree with the people saying the mask salesman, and add Pipit and his mom. Where is his dad? Also the entire twili race.

Can i say 'everyone in Termina'?

I'd like to know about Happy Mask Salesman, i know its a generic and lame choice but really that creepy dude knows more than he lets on. I swear he knows what Majora is and where it comes from, there also has to be a reason why he sells masks... and those freaky things in the meadow on the moon look a little like him, why is that? Is the happy mask salesman even human? Is he the same guy from OoT in Castletown who ran the shop or is he native to Termina? I wana knooooooooooow

I have a theory that the happy mask salesman may be part of the ancient tribe that created Majora's Mask. evidence for this is that he wants te mask for himself, he knows what it can do in the wrong hands, the children on the moon in the end have a strong resemblance to him, and they even say,"can you be a mask salesman, too?" Also, the happy mask salesman seems a little bit disappointed in the end of the game that the mask lost its power, then he disappears. In the MM manga, he says that he doesn't have a care for this world, and all he wants is the mask and then he will leave. What if his world is the world of the ancient tribe?

i know right? thats all i know, and he is the creepiest most mysterious villain in the game, an nothing has ever been mentioned about him, he does as PT said "pops outta nowhere and attacks"

Ive always like characters that are the yin to the leads yang, Like Negaduck in Darkwing Duck, those are my favorite type of bad guys, Like the Dark Prince at the end of the "Sands of Time" trilogy! Love it!

We need to know more about Midna and Majora.

We know that Midna is the queen of the Twilight Realm, but what is her relationship with Zant and the citizens of the Twilight Realm? Why does Zant and Midna hate each other?

All we know about Majora is that it's an evil mask created by an ancient society that used it for hexing and the mask itself wants to bring doom to the entire world. Why does this mask want to destroy Termina? What will it do after Termina is destroyed? Has Majora thought about what destroying Termina will gain him? That's the one thing I find wrong with people/things wanting to destroy a world. They plan how to destroy it, but never plan what to do after it's destroyed. Let's see this unfold in a conversation between an evil villain and his henchman
"So master, what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to destroy the Earth!!! Hahahahaha!!!"
"Good. But what will you do after you destroy the Earth."
"Hahahahaha....Wait, what....oh....let's see....I....never....thought....about....that...."
"So what is your plan?"
"I don't know! DARN YOU LAWS OF NATURE!!!"

SPOILER AHEAD

Actually, after seeing the Lanayru scene when they are talking (their only scene "alone," I think), I really thought Zant had a crush on Midna...
