If I could choose, Link would be male as he is supposed to be.

I have said all along there should not be a female option for this established character. Him being male is one of his defining traits. A female Link would not even be link. It would be like making a female James Bond or a male Lara Croft. They wouldn't even be the original character. It would be better to create a new female character separate to Link to play as if there were to be a female option.

Nintendo could use Linkle to do that though.

I dont know if you realised or not but I somehow posted the same thing twice so you replied to both of them with different answers.

Yes I wouldn't be against Linkle as a separate character just so long as the distinction is made between Link and her.

The distinction has been made already. Nintendo would probably slightly alter her out fit, as the slightly altered the looks of all characters that already made their first appearances in LoZ games (I know of a few exceptions to that). So Linkle having first show in Hyrule Warriors Legends would have an altered look for the main LoZ games. ^^:zelda:

It would be cool, but I'm fine with Link as he is.

Nintendo has proven themselves to make strong female characters like Midna and Tetra, so I don't think it would change Link's personality much, or his relationship with Zelda. I've always imagined Link and Zelda just being close friends anyway.

I don't think Link needs a new name either, Link is the "link" between the player and Hyrule, nothing more.

I just don't think it's necessary, but I would like to see another male companion.
