Lack of Parental Role Models

I don't mean to be a prude or anything but has anyone noticed that neither zelda or link has any parental role models or otherwise you have scattered references to the king of hyrule but does a king not need a queen and then if so how do you explain the birth of zelda for one and also why is it that zelda is an only child? Also, we have a veiled reference to Link's mother in OoT but who is she and why did she abandon Link with the kokiri instead of with the hylians with whom he shared blood. One more irritating thing but obvious question where is daddy link? or is it a magical travel through time where one women gets pregnant with the same kid generation after generation someone help!!!!!

The reason parental characters are background roles is probably because the largest demographic doesn't want to think about parents while playing the games. :| Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Link's mother left him in the forest because his father had recently died in a war, and it would be safer there. She knew he would eventually recognize that he was Hylian, and leave the forest. Then there is the 'Hero Prophecy' that when evil rises, a hero will rise to stop it. That hero (Link) can have a variety of hair colors, from brown to bright blonde, and for some reason or another always ends up wearing a green tunic.

Well, you're right when it comes to Zelda, but Link typically has someone kind of like a parental role model. In OoT, he had the Great Deku Tree. In MM, he was already mature enough from OoT to not need one. In TP, he had Ordon, where he grew up, and probably learned from various males and females in Ordon. In the WW, he had his grandmother, and well as the boat. In the MC, his uncle, and Ezlo. I just think it's decently unimportant to Nintendo, as Link and Zelda both show enough mature qualities to not really need a parent watching over them.

It might have made it easier for him to leave home without having to leave his parents and have them try to keep link from leaving. Plus it adds that air of mystery to him. Now that you mention it, there are actually a good amount of kids in the series that are missing a parent and its always the parent of the same gender as the kid who is the one thats missing.
