All was tranquil in Skyworld. Despite the ongoing war with the Underworld, Palutena's forces, combined in a temporary alliance with the Forces of Nature, had been able to keep the fighting at bay. The humans were the only ones suffering the brunt of this destruction.
However, this peace was quickly disrupted as a messenger Centurion burst into Palutena's council room. "Lady Palutena!" he cried. "We have urgent news! The Great Sacred Treasure has been stolen!"
At the same time, the leader of the Forces of Nature was receiving the same message. "It was the Space Pirates," the messenger gasped. "The Great Sacred Treasure, which was built by the God of the Forge, Dyntos. It's said to be even more powerful than the three treasures of old that were used against the Queen of the Underworld, Medusa! And... the Underworld is after it!"
And at the same time, a mysterious alien force was approaching on the horizon...
Soon everyone knew about the Great Sacred Treasure and how it had gone missing. Now that it was no longer safely enclosed in Dyntos's compound, it was quite possible that one of the other sides could obtain it and use it for themselves. With such a powerful object, no one would be able to stop them! Alliances were formed by those who did not want the power to fall into the wrong hands, and the more greedy characters gathered their underlings to prepare for attack. Others knew the amount of people that would gather, so they arrived in hopes of furthering the destruction.
Meanwhile, Lord Dyntos sat in his realm, quietly thinking to himself. He then chuckled. "Well," he said, "I was planning on giving that out to whoever I deemed worthy. Now I suppose this just speeds up the process." He stood. "Let's see who survives this encounter!"
He clapped his hands, power spreading from them and a mischievous glint in his eyes.
As all the gods and goddesses arrived upon the Space Pirate Ship, bringing their strongest (and not-so-strongest) servants along with them to face any resistance, eager to claim this powerful prize, a forcefield suddenly descended upon them all. Their were shouts of surprise and despair as they all realized that none of the faces around them were recognizable any longer.
Dyntos appeared in front of them all, the only discernible face among them. "You are all now hiding amongst friends and foes," he announced. "If you want the Great Sacred Treasure, you must defeat your enemies!"
And with that, he disappeared in a wisp of smoke.
The figures immediately started arguing and shouting over one another, trying to decide who was who. But it was no use. The evil ones refused to reveal themselves, and their enemies felt the same. If any of them were to succeed, they would have to work together, trying to determine who to trust and who was lying. But with so many enemies that were not afraid to kill without hesitation, it was only a matter of time before heroes fell...
